Perfect timing. I just bought it new of these last week. A 6" hanging basket from Walmart. They had all the babies tucked up inside the pot. Also, my mom had one more than 45 years ago.
I was calling this a strawberry Begonia! So glad I now know it’s true id, thanks to you! I grow three in a open terrarium, one in a drainage-less teacup and two offsets in a moss filled glass thimble. I love how a small threadlike appendage appears and then tiny hairs, then a small cluster of leaves that grow quickly. It’s one of my favorites. Mine are pretty thirsty.
The runners make me think of strawberry plants. I lately saw this online. It was cute and rather cheap so I ordered it. We'll see if it survives in my home.😅
Oh I love this plant and many years ago I had one, but I wasn't as knowlegable about it as I am now, so I killed my first one, but if I found one now would repurchase and try again, it does remind me of a begonia, and the little plantlets that hang down are super cute and give the plant such character. Thank you Summer for all the tips on this plant, now I can't wait to get another one.
Oh I love this one. It's one I have at home but didnt know so much about, it is one I wouldnt normally gravitate to but something about it caught my attention
You can cut the runner as long or short as you want. I like to cut it about 1/4 inch from the baby. Not sure if they can root in water but I bet they could as long as just the base touches the water.
I've never tried rooting mine in Wwater. I just lay them on top of damp soil and they always root. I'll have to try them in water to see how that goes.
Thank you, I asked for this 4 days ago and you delivered! Now for a little experiment... will you marry me? lol! Wonder how long I have to wait for a reply to that? lmao!
Finally, I plant I have at home! Thank you for the tips!

I like the ‘earthyness’of woodland ground covers, of which this is one.
if you like this, you would adore the piggyback plant, its a close relative of the strawberry saxifrage
@@KerpooHater does it produce runners? Or just creep along.
Creeping Charlie is a nice one. It’s more of a vining ground cover.
I had 1 of these 40 yrs ago. Beautiful

They also produce very nice flower spikes during spring,if given a winter rest.

I was thinking that too !
You were not listening too carefully my friend 😅😉
Saw this in my local nursery last week and nearly wanted to get this, but I guess it will never do well in my north facing balcony. T.T
Summer, can I root the babies in water?Where do I cut the runner? They are quite long!
