    Lyrics:
    Oh, the summertime is coming
And the trees are sweetly blooming
    And the wild mountain thyme
    Grows around the blooming heather
    Will ye go lassie, go?
    And we'll all go together
    To pluck wild mountain thyme
    All around the blooming heather
    Will ye go lassie, go?
I will build my love a tower
    Near yon pure crystal fountain
And on it I will pile
All the flowers of the mountain
    Will ye go lassie, go?
    And we'll all go together
    To pluck wild mountain thyme
    All around the blooming heather
    Will ye go lassie, go?
If my true love she were gone
    I would surely find another
    Where wild mountain thyme
    All around the blooming heather
    Will ye go lassie, go?
    And we'll all go together
    To pluck wild mountain thyme
    All around the blooming heather
    Will ye go lassie, go?

LOVE THIS!!! You really have to watch John's face as he gets into the song and just let's his sense of fun take over. This was and always will be the BEST make up of the Irish Tenors. I was able to see them quite a few times and always left the theaters smiling and with good music in my ears. Thanks for posting this with our John in the group, Mr Studio. :)

I had never heard this song before until I saw The Irish Tenors sing it from the Dublin concert. I didn't know it was suppose to be sung slower. I finally heard a version where it was sung in the traditionally slower way. You know what? I didn't like it. I was so used to the faster version, that I went back to The Irish Tenors' recording of it. I like it this way. I wonder who suggested the upbeat tempo in the first place. Anyway, I'm glad they sang it as they did. Bravo, Irish Tenors!!

I can't believe this post is from 4 years ago. Well now it's March 2018 and again it's time for St. Patrick's day and time for me to upload to Facebook my favorite song by the Irish Tenors. There is another upbeat song on this album about the 'lady brushing her hair'. The rest of the ballads are mournful but beautiful, it's a nice mix. And then there is John McDermott's album about songs of World War 1, about Willie McBride, and Waltzing Matilda - all so sad but beautifully sung. I miss you John McDermott.

John is Scotland born of Irish Heritage. I prefer him solo although he can hold his own with the others who are professionally trained while he is a natural and only trained for 2 years at St Michael's Choir School in Toronto. so glad he never did get the opera training!!!!

Well, I'm so glad this video is generating so much disapproval. I don't know why so many people hate this song so much. I love it, to be honest most traditional Irish songs are rather... dare I say- too slow. Its a nice change to see something sang with some haste.

    • @ebookpioneers

Well then, someones technical. I guess I should correct myself. This rendition. I don't know why so many people hate this rendition so much. Saying that, I do acknowledge the reason being the speed of the rendition.

Come on people, a Celtic ballad performed in Italian style - this is ridiculous... This could be a good soundtrack for the Looney Tunes but that's it.
