Nikita Koloff was one of the all time greatest but underappreciated talents. He was the biggest heel going for a while. Love that guy

Nikita, Vader, Flair, and Muta round out my all-time favorite heels; Koloff was the most intimidating.

I enjoy Nikita's early wrestling stories, especially the one where the Russian ambassador actually thought he was Russian and demanded that he stay in the Russian Embassy while he was over in the Middle East doing some shows.

Nikita had overstayed his departure abroad on one of the old Soviet exit travel visa's. I believe one of the Russian Embassies wanted to lure him in to then return him to the Soviet Union.. Nikita did the right thing and basically had defected at that point.

One of my favorite wrestlers of all time. Too bad he never shined beyond NWA. He had the intensity, speed and power to dominate in every other federation. It's weird hearing him speak in his normal voice as I was so used to his heavy Russian accent. The Russian Nightmare rules!!!

Love this brotha. One of my many favorite wrestlers next to Rowdy Roddy Piper Andre the giant Bundy and many more as far as heel wrestlers go. His voice threw me off when I first heard this video. I expected a heavier voice. Could definitely work the crowd as a heel and crowd favorite.

I’m 59 (about 20 months younger than Scott, uh Nikita) and I remember him being introduced in 1984 as “Ivan Koloff’s nephew.” And speaking of powerlifting, I also remember 2 or 3 years later, when I happened to be in the Central YMCA weight room in Winston-Salem, NC, and saw a chalkboard with guys’ recent lifts. At the very top of the list was a 575 lb bench press by “Nikita Koloff.” I think that was close to an American record, if it was legit (obviously not sure).
