I will NEVER get used to seeing this guy out of character! Hearing him and Ivan a speak without their Russian accents during interviews really blows me away! WOW!! RIP Ivan.
From what I heard from other interviews about him, he even stayed in character around the boys and spoke with the accent when he was an active wrestler.
I enjoy Nikita's early wrestling stories, especially the one where the Russian ambassador actually thought he was Russian and demanded that he stay in the Russian Embassy while he was over in the Middle East doing some shows.
Nikita had overstayed his departure abroad on one of the old Soviet exit travel visa's. I believe one of the Russian Embassies wanted to lure him in to then return him to the Soviet Union.. Nikita did the right thing and basically had defected at that point.
One of my favorite wrestlers of all time. Too bad he never shined beyond NWA. He had the intensity, speed and power to dominate in every other federation. It's weird hearing him speak in his normal voice as I was so used to his heavy Russian accent. The Russian Nightmare rules!!!
After Magnum TA got hurt in the car accident and Nikita turned face I will never understand why Nikita didn't win the NWA WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP.
Love this brotha. One of my many favorite wrestlers next to Rowdy Roddy Piper Andre the giant Bundy and many more as far as heel wrestlers go. His voice threw me off when I first heard this video. I expected a heavier voice. Could definitely work the crowd as a heel and crowd favorite.
Watching him back in the early 90s, it never occurred to me that he wasn't an actual Russian or at least from Eastern Europe. A fine example of protecting a gimmick before the internet made doing so pretty much impossible.
Wow I can’t help to imagine if events in there lives would’ve been different where Nikita would of persuited wrestling instead of pro football and just maybe we could of seen animal and Nikita as the Road Warriors! WOW!
I’m 59 (about 20 months younger than Scott, uh Nikita) and I remember him being introduced in 1984 as “Ivan Koloff’s nephew.” And speaking of powerlifting, I also remember 2 or 3 years later, when I happened to be in the Central YMCA weight room in Winston-Salem, NC, and saw a chalkboard with guys’ recent lifts. At the very top of the list was a 575 lb bench press by “Nikita Koloff.” I think that was close to an American record, if it was legit (obviously not sure).
man we all thought he was real Russian when he gave a promo he had that 1000 yard stare he would go maaaaana ta I must destroy you.and we new are boy was goning to get beat!!!!! we was hot over it we just new the Russians was coming me and my buddies would hord.ammo no idea he was from minnesota this dude had us fooled big time hey he done a great job on us me and my buddies
That little laugh at 1:26 after the interviewer mentioned him and Animal being bouncers together tells me there are some more stories there that came to his mind but he didn't want to tell lol!!!
One of the scariest wrasslers in his day. He was a beast! Huge fan, Nikita. Glad to see you still look good bro. Looks like he could get in the ring today no problem.
I wish Nikita did this as his wrestling voice. . . That would have been great if Nikita was talking then all of a sudden his wrestling voice busted in on the conversation.
So glad he never went to wwf they would of ruined him. Make him a gimmick or teamed with nickoli volcoff. Was badass when he had the feud with the warriors. Or went face and teamed with dusty against the horseman
Nikita Koloff was one of the all time greatest but underappreciated talents. He was the biggest heel going for a while. Love that guy
Nikita, Vader, Flair, and Muta round out my all-time favorite heels; Koloff was the most intimidating.
I'm 40 years old and never knew his voice was really like this 🤦🏿♂️ and he was one of my favorites
He always does a great job when giving an interview. Glad to see him doing well. Seems like a real down to earth guy.
I will NEVER get used to seeing this guy out of character! Hearing him and Ivan a speak without their Russian accents during interviews really blows me away! WOW!! RIP Ivan.
Nikita Koloff, Road Warriors, Curt Hennig, Rick Rude, Barry Darsow The Minnesota Crew!
mandela effect...Curt's name is Hennig.....
Krusher Kruschev
Tom Zenk.
mandela effect? What's that suppose to mean?
Scott Norton to
It freaks me out to hear his voice. It’s not how Nikita is supposed to sound
I honestly thought he was Russian😀
@@lexbeltran1354 just a Canadian
RIGHT!!! As soon as he started talking I was like "WTF!?!" Damn.....He really got me on that. My dumb ass fell for the gig. 😂😂😂

Charles Smith It is interesting to hear Nikita’s voice. That great Minnesota accent. Which happens to be my home state. Ya sure you betcha!!!!🤗🤗🤗🤗
Ill never forget playing Hide&Seek in the Walmart on Albemarle Rd in Charlotte, NC with Nikita Koloff when I was around 5 years old. (around 1992)
Did he use the Russian accent? I heard he was always in chrecter
LOVE this guy. Great teacher as well. God bless this man for being a positive man throughout life. ...
Thank for all the entertainment and hard knocks to bring us a great show, God Bless you Brother in Christ
I enjoy Nikita's early wrestling stories, especially the one where the Russian ambassador actually thought he was Russian and demanded that he stay in the Russian Embassy while he was over in the Middle East doing some shows.
I would love to hear that whole story

@@markdp1983 hopefully you do realize that Nikita was actually born in Minneapolis, Minnesota, as Nelson Scott Simpson.

Some folks referred to Simpson as the Russian Road Warrior, he was a badass!💪💪💪

That was some real BS. He should have!
Can you imagine getting into a fight at the bar where Nikita Koloff, Animal, Hawk, Barry Darsow, Curt Henning and Rick Rude were bouncers?
Dunno about henning but hennig yes lol
No
And Scott Norton
I'd apologize and leave quickly and quietly..
I enjoyed watching him wrestle when I was young 👍👍👍👍👍
Rest in peace Road Warrior Animal! Nikita Koloff is a real one!

It's amazing how far back Nikita & Animal go back.
Watching him back in the early 90s, it never occurred to me that he wasn't an actual Russian or at least from Eastern Europe. A fine example of protecting a gimmick before the internet made doing so pretty much impossible.
Wow he aged gracefully.
i love these ! thank you
I could listen to these all day, I hope they put 500 of them up lol!!! Great stuff!!!

Nikita's awesome!!!💪💪
Have a lot of respect for Nikita Kolof, he seems to be a very nice person.
Soda Popinski dreams of becoming Nikita Koloff.
They put sting in the hof nikita should be in.
His career was too short for the hof
Dude was in the original WAR GAMES....put him in.
Mr t is in the fake Hof....how long was his wrestling career?
Wwe sucks!!
Nikita was great in the NWA and UWF

@2:43 that face still intimidates me!
I used to watch the old NWA shows on Saturday's in the 80's. Nikita was intimidating with that scowl he had😀
This is such great insight and history.
Not really Russian. Just ruined my childhood😂

You'd have to be very drunk and/or stupid to try to cause any trouble with him and Animal as bouncers!
Les Schoenberger facts. Lol.
Hawk as a bouncer?

Les Schoenberger isn’t Nikita a minister now? Those stories probably aren’t suitable for the pulpit.😂😂

Aww I wanted to hear more 😢
So... the Road Warriors didn't really grow up in the tough streets of South Chicago?
Chicago was the biggest city in the AWA territory, so it makes sense.
They did the same with lex
Both lived in Chicago as kids...
@@thomoswald712 no they didn't that was all a work including the part in their WWE DVD.
Wait... but they did train with construction workers to prepare for the skywalkers match, right?
First time I heard Nikita talk American...

His English has gotten pretty good over the years.
Never heard him out of character
Finally dropped the kayfabe.
That's not Nikita Koloff!! He's not even a Russian!! 🤣😂🤣 Loved wrestling back in the day 👍😁
It's REALLY WEIRD to hear him talk
The glory days of wrestling, where long-time friends off screen can convince you that they don't know each other as wrestlers and hate each other...
He and the late Ivan Koloff were great actors. I truly believed that they were Russian.
Animals mother was named Lorna Laurinitis :o)
Russian Night Mare
2 best u.s. champion to Magnum t.a.!
He didn't comment on Jake's side of that story lol
There is a video on here about him talking about Roberts!
