He has a different ex wife on the show Preachers Daughters. My husband read a book that he wrote. According to the book, his daughters are from his second marriage. He remarried about a year after his first wife died. One thing that I can respect about him is you never hear him saying anything bad about anyone else.
nothing but respect for Nikita. always liked double A, but not here. some people bashed Nikita for leaving the business for a time when his wife, mandy, had cancer. how could you not care for your family. this is a great man here, again, Nothing but Respect for Nikita.
In 1985 I took my son to Raleigh's Dorton Arena where the whole show was featured including you and Ivan in a tag team match. My then 11 year old son thought you were just a terrible person (Russia, heel, language, etc.) and was really cheering against you and Ivan. Anyway, after the matches I took him down to the floor to wait for everyone to get out of the dressing rooms and get some autographs. He was hoping for R&REx and Magnum TA. The whole crowd was waiting in front of the good guys dressing room, meanwhile, over on the heel side of the gym, there was no one. Buuuuttttt... Tully had not gone into the dressing room yet as he was talking to a female fan while holding a side door open to let in the cool night air. I suggested to my son he get Tully's autograph. He protested mildly that he was a bad guy and I said so what, he's a well known wrestler and you'll have his autograph. besides, your friends will consider that you were brave enough to get a bad guy's autograph. So he got it and to Tully's credit, he took several minutes to talk to my son asking the simple basic questions but putting him at ease and they parted with big grins. By then, YOU had come out of the dressing room in your street clothes and so I pointed him towards you. NO WAY DAD am I getting anywhere near Nikita Koloff! I again reminded him how brave his friends would think he was having Nikita's autograph. I had to walk with him part of the way before he mustered the strength to ask you for an autograph. It was funny because like Tully, you acted like you were not used to having young fans seek your autograph. And again, like Tully, you were kind to him and took time with him to make it something more than just giving some kid an autograph. And for that, I thank you sir. For sure the memory of the whole thing has long since faded in his mind, but not in Dad's. And when Ric came out, same story all over again. I can honestly say the three of you touched my heart in a way I never expected and all I can say is may God bless each of the three of you. Best of regards...
When I was probably about 16 or so, my church youth group and I went to hear Nikita speak at a service. When it was over, I went up and had the opportunity to shake his hand and speak with him briefly, even doing my Dusty Rhodes impression I think. Seemed to be a really nice guy. I also have been checking out Arn's the new podcast entitled ironically enough, Arn with Conrad Thompson, and if I had to describe it in one word, I would say it's real. You don't get the character Arn Anderson, but in a lot of cases you get Marty Lunde the man behind the character. I obviously can't say for sure if there is legitimate heat between the two, I just think it'd be cool to have the opportunity to hang out with them for a couple hours, seem to be down to earth people. Thanks for the Post
It's still weird to hear Nikita speak this way. When I was growing up we were led to believe that he is russian and he did a good job of making me believe that.lol I truly believe that he is a good man.
He's a Minnesota guy like the late Road Warriors, Mr. Perfect Curt Hennig, and Ravishing Rick Rude.... Good Lord rest their souls😇 R.I.P. Nikita seems like a real chill dude, no accent included 😂 lol
Being around Ole "Get Off Of My Lawn" Anderson for so many years actually left an impact on Arn when dealing with people in general...whether you are a close friend or not.....he seems insecure and obviously The Russian Nightmare is fine in his own skin.
Only in Pro Wrestling could a guy who's actually from Minnesota pretending to be Russian have a 25 year real life vendetta against a guy who's actually from Georgia pretending to be Minnesotan.😂B.W.
@@robertbenthal9396 well he may of been born there in North Carolina but he attended High school in Minnesota . Same High school as Rick Rude , Curt Henning , Hawk , Ric Flair Scott Norton .....etc Robbinsdale Minnesota .
I got to meet James Parres aka Ivan koloff. He talked a little bit about his career. He spoke mostly about what God had done for him. Another truly good man
I wish he would have done this interview in character. I used to love listening to Nikita Koloff Interviews. I remember when I was a young kid in the 80s I thought he really was the Russian bad guy that he portrayed. I always rooted for Hills as a kid and I still do now, so Nikita Koloff was one of my favorites untio they made him a baby. I never will forget that interview that he did in the gym working out when he was talking about Lex Luger. I was maybe 9 or 10 years old when I saw that interview and I was actually scared for Lex Luger. I thought Nikita Koloff was going to kill him.
Nikita Koloff was slated at one point was heading towards the World Wrestling Federation. I can only imagine the epic battles between Nikita versus Hulk Hogan, Curt Henning, Randy Savage, Ultimate Warrior.
Just curious here, but how many of you remember when Pro Wrestling Illustrated aka PWI ran the story of Nikita's wife Mandy having cancer? Seems I recall a picture of the two sitting on the floor in front of a fireplace in that issue of PWI, though I could be wrong on that last part.
I don't know because I wasn't there, but I wonder if Arn had a dislike for Nikita because he was put over a lot, became very popular, always seemed to win against him and the Four Horsemen especially when it was Koloff , Rhodes and the Road Warriors against them? It might have been a personality clash but who knows maybe there was a bit of jealousy there because of the big push that Nik got? But to still be bitter seeing each other 20 years later, wow....something was very wrong there!
prolly more perceived as not being properly appreciative of the chances he was getting, and the people who were making him, more because he was so new that he didn't get the locker room culture of bending over backwards to the elders in a show of appreciation for how they were building him. thinking about, nikita, lex, ultimate warrior and Goldberg were pushed super fast as well and were all perceived to be that way. like the kid who had to save up for his beat up used car might look at the kid who's parents bought a corvette for that he bitches about not being a porsche.
Joseph Scott That's a very good analogy and very real possibility. I would have thought "Uncle" Ivan would have set him straight about it being a veteran but who knows. I'm sure when Nik was teamed with Dusty as the "Superpowers" that also could've irked some guys too. Talking about it now he has nothing but respect for those guys and what they did, but back then who knows how he reacted. I would also put the Road Warriors in your list too, and Nik was buddies with them, mostly Animal, they were pushed fast and almost made unbeatable for quite awhile too. Good observation!
It's a heel's job to get heat and put the faces over at the end of the day, so I assure you that Ric and the Horsemen had no qualms and pretty much expected to put the Roadies and Superpowers over in the War Games matches. Unless it was to further an angle, heels almost never won matches like that and on that type of big stage.
I just listened to it again and the part that struck me was when Nikita said to Arn that he works about 4 days a month Arn said "see, there you go, that's one of the reasons why I hate you". tells me that it is jealousy and/or that something rubbed him the wrong way about Nikita that he can't let go. Yet in his interview Arn said that Nikita was "smart, he knew what he wanted and got out of the business instead of hobbling out like some of us guys did". I think he just disliked the fact that Nikita could do that and he couldn't or maybe he could, I don't know, I wasn't there but to say something like that after not seeing someone for 20 years, well......
There were certain guys in the business that could call their own shots. Arn wasn't one of those guys and ya it probably bugged him. He's one of those guys that loved the business and than you have a guy like Nikita who basically got the job because of luck and the fact that he had a great look.
It may have been Jim Cornette he told to get up---Flair has said he told off Nikita one time when he tried to bully Jim ("You know how much money this guy draws, and you're treating him like a jabroni??"). Cornette said they would be on Crockett's plane & Nikita was still using the accent, so Arn would lean forward & yell "Hey GQball! We know you're Scott Simpson from Minnesota, you can drop the Commie act around us". But I've also heard guys (DDP, Chavo Guerrero) that have said AA talked down to them, so it may not be all Nikita
MP25DIII I can definitely see Arn being a prick. I'm sure a lot of those top guys were pricks with the exception of Beautiful Bobby Eaton. Almost every wrestler who worked that territory said he was cool. 😎
AA was, he was a real Dick to the Nexus after they beat Steamboat up on raw, here in Philly, he treated them like shit, and Bret was there, and stuck up for them, Putting Arn, MY SPOT on Blast, Bret Sayin,Who Are You? Dude, who are you? To say Tully was an all-timer (overrated son of a promoter is more like it) compared to Arn shows me that you're a knownothing crybaby.
DENIS DEMEY I love the Bobby Eaton stories. I hate so bad I missed getting to meet Bobby in Memphis a while back. Been trying to catch him doing a meet & greet.
Hand Solo lol I'm just not a fan of his bro. What did he have? He was a horrible worker, he always said the same thing " who's next" , the only thing he had was a look, but the one thing i despise about him the most is his reason for getting in to wrestling, money. He was never a fan but saw an opportunity to get rich when his football career ended prematurely, he never once paid any dues, turned in to a egotistical asshole that refused to do any jobs
Ian Meadows - Good wrestler and good worker are not the same thing. Meltzer with his bullshit has conflated the two things. Good worker means people believe in a guy. Goldberg was not a great WRESTLER, but was an excellent WORKER because when he came out, the people popped big time and bought into him 100%. Shit like Benoit, etc couldn't draw flies, but because he did some dives, he was a great "worker"? Nah, he was a decent wrestler, but a shitty worker. Don't mix up the 2 things. Big deal if if he didn't "love" wrestling. He made more impact than most of these boring midgets today that "love" wrestling. A guy is either over, or he is not. If he is, then everyone makes money on his back, if he isn't, everybody suffers. You sometimes have to accept a guy that you don't think is a good wrestler like Goldberg because it gives exposure and money to a guy that you do like, but who cannot draw like Malenko, Saturn, etc.
I love listening to Nikita. Love guys who speak well. He seems like a nice guy who you might meet at church. Thank you so much. Love the interview. Thanks, Nikita.
Has anyone ever mentioned to Nikita, Bill Goldberg seems to have emulated much of his posturing & mannerisms? I think the Russian Nightmare could have been booked in a similar direction. Just my theory.
Me too .. there was a period where I would hit my little cousins with the Russian Sickle whenever I saw an opening 💪😈 .. just for the hell of it .. they hated me and Nikita .. lol
Arn seems like a respectful person but in some of his interviews he seems bitter.I think he would try to cash checks with guys he couldn't cash remember he got stabbed once and Buzz almost broke his back .
For those here commenting on Nikita being shocked or disappointed upon hearing his voice so differently in this interview, I must tell you... Nikita did a GREAT job convincing you he was Ivan's nephew from Russia. Thats what he's supposed to do as a wrestler.
@@TheHannibalTV I’m just playing a hunch here , but Nikita’s first wife was a Miss Alabama , or something , and Arn worked for a territory that ran Alabama every week till 85 and I’ll bet a lot of those guys knew her and Arn , too . I wouldn’t be surprised if Arn was into Nikita’s first wife . Arn’s explanation of not liking Mikita because he wanted to get in make money and get out of wrestling doesn’t make sense .
Hi, I'm searching videos to see if Nikita has ever discussed Steve Austin and vice versa? Stone Cold recently watched some old clips with Jericho and it struck me how much he looks like Nikita now.
To all the people taking sides, you should know it is very possible they are both telling the truth. Here is how. Being on the road makes you tired, perhaps one day he was tired or in pain, many of these guys took painkillers, and someone got in his seat. In a moment he probably regretted later he may have blown up at some poor guy, but later forgotten all about it. I believe he may have done this, but i dont know if he was an all out bully like arn claims. Often, things are not always black n white, there is usually some gray. Ultimately what is important is that he doesnt seem to be that kind of guy anymore (if he ever was) since giving himself to god. It appears to me, he has grown and matured as a man, seems like a cool guy now and that is what really matters, we grow and mature.
I agree with you. I think people do not realize how much people can change over time. I know that I did things in my teens and twenties that I am not proud of and would not do today. If someone did not like us and were offended by something that we did, they usually remember it a lot longer than we do, especially if it had happened about 25 to 30 years ago. People can have personality conflicts where both can get along with other people and seem to be good people, but can't get along with each other. I think this may have happened in this case.
I had a whole other soundtrack going in my head. It sounded like a bad Russian accent by a guy that could still rip your arms of and beat you with them. Like circa 1988-89 Nikita.
I think he's one of those guys without an exit plan. He loved the business and that's all he ever wanted to do. But that's not how life or the wrestling business works. Nikita on the hand said that he didn't want to be one of those guys that sticks around too long.
I heard in other shoots that Nikita would pick on some one and Arn would start picking on Nikita and Arn was never afraid of Nikita. Arn would put Nikita back in his place.
Loved Nikita Koloff and the Russian Nightmare back in the 80s. And all his feuds with Magnum TA and Dusty. But come on man, all you had to do was watch his promos and listen to him talk to realize there was no way he was Russian. I don't know what he was trying to sound like but it was a bad attempt at an accent. lol
Probably pushing a little bit of elbow into a joke / wisecrack. I doubt it was meant to sting. Nikita probably just was caught up in moments. Arn seems like a very normal down to earth guy, just passionate about the industry. Otherwise he probably could be done too.
Only a wrestling will you find a guy from Georgia so insecure about his spot, not his liver spot or his dog spot, but his spot in the pecking order that he would legit carry a 20-year grudge.
Fair enough. Its not like it was a huge issue anyway. He said the jist of what I heard Arn say. They weren't exactly tight and they sparred a bit back and forth, but worked together, learned together and made it happen.Non issue. And Arn said even tho he felt that way at times back then with Nikita that he understood Nikita had a change of heart of late and good on him for doing that.Non issue on either side👍💪
The old, "Flair carrying people" again bullshit. Ok kid, sling me in the corner and I'll flip over it, run down the apron then you clothesline me. Now, slingshot me in the corner and I'll bounce out into a back body drop. Ok, now, I'll do the rolling knee drop. Now, body press me and then I'll beg for mercy. Flair sucked!!!! So repetitive

I love listening to Nikita. Love guys who speak well. He seems like a nice guy who you might meet at church. Thank you so much. Love the interview. Thanks, Nikita.
You didn't ask him about Arn having to tell Nikita to stop the Russian accent he was staying in character around the boys
maybe Arn can be asked about throwing beer bottles at people and stabbing them with scissors for daring to criticize Ric Flair.
Actually he talked in great detail about kayfabing the boys in the full interview
Is it possible to purchase the full video?
“Hey, GQ Ball, the boys all know you’re Scott Simpson from Minnesoter.”

Has anyone ever mentioned to Nikita, Bill Goldberg seems to have emulated much of his posturing & mannerisms? I think the Russian Nightmare could have been booked in a similar direction. Just my theory.
Yes, Nikita should've had a Goldberg push. My god, can you imagine the heat?
@@trannongoble7722 He didn't want it. That's when his wife got sick.
Arn wanted him to continue wrestling.
Even though Nikita played a heel I adored him
Me too .. there was a period where I would hit my little cousins with the Russian Sickle whenever I saw an opening 💪😈 .. just for the hell of it .. they hated me and Nikita ..
Seems like a common thread regarding Arn is that he throws shade on everyone and everyone is kinda like "that's not how I recall it..."
I don’t know why but this sounds like Arn has a case of the green eyed monster .
Yep
@@TheHannibalTV I’m just playing a hunch here , but Nikita’s first wife was a Miss Alabama , or something , and Arn worked for a territory that ran Alabama every week till 85 and I’ll bet a lot of those guys knew her and Arn , too . I wouldn’t be surprised if Arn was into Nikita’s first wife . Arn’s explanation of not liking Mikita because he wanted to get in make money and get out of wrestling doesn’t make sense .
It's still weird to hear him talk in his own voice
When was this interview?
Late July 2018
THE HANNIBAL TV thank you sir
He held up the best of all of the wrestlers!
Wow! Robert Duvall is looking good these days.
Hi, I'm searching videos to see if Nikita has ever discussed Steve Austin and vice versa? Stone Cold recently watched some old clips with Jericho and it struck me how much he looks like Nikita now.
There is one about Austin talking about rooming and traveling with Nikita on the road for a short time, he was very complimentary towards him.
What a great guy!
I had a whole other soundtrack going in my head. It sounded like a bad Russian accent by a guy that could still rip your arms of and beat you with them. Like circa 1988-89 Nikita.
Sounds like Arn didn't plan as good as Nikita did
Or he's greeder
I think he's one of those guys without an exit plan. He loved the business and that's all he ever wanted to do. But that's not how life or the wrestling business works. Nikita on the hand said that he didn't want to be one of those guys that sticks around too long.
I guess it was just now I realized he wasn't really a Russian.Damn,he played the part well.
I heard in other shoots that Nikita would pick on some one and Arn would start picking on Nikita and Arn was never afraid of Nikita. Arn would put Nikita back in his place.
Don’t feel bad, Arn(Marty) called Jerry Stubbs “Cueball” way before you in Southeastern (Pensacola).
Arn nicknamed Jerry Stubbs "Peahead" That was in 1984. Southeastern. Arn would also say," Get at yourself Pea"
Wait a minute. Wasn't Arn on those "Private Planes" with Nature Boy Number 2
I would love to see Nikita manage a young wrestler of his Russian Nightmare caliber in AEW
nikita koloff looking so well.
At least Nikita is really from Minnesota.
Nikita was the man
For years I thought Nikita was Russian. Come to find out after the Soviet Union fell, he was actually Lithuanian...
Arnold is the last guy who should call anyone cueball. hes been practically bald all his life
So what happened to Scott Simpson?
Only a wrestling will you find a guy from Georgia so insecure about his spot, not his liver spot or his dog spot, but his spot in the pecking order that he would legit carry a 20-year grudge.
This guy would of been bigger if he stayed on the gas and stayed heel. Probably would have if Magnum didn't have his accident.
I was expecting the russian accent. Soo disappointed 1st the Ugandan giant now the russian nightmare my life is a lie lol
Yeah but he still has that Minnesota accent . Good old Minnesota boy !
🤣😂
Nikita sounds like a good dude
I liked him better as a heel, with Ivan.
Arn who stabbed Sid and tried to kill him , is a P.O.S who needs to be behind bars !!!
Nikita was my favorite as a kid. I had his t-shirt. Caught absolute hell over it at school haha
Of course you caught hell! He was a damn Commie, lol! I didn't realize he wasn't Russian until I saw these videos of him speaking English!
I'm 60 and you make me happy to be 60. 5. 17. 59
He sounds like superstar Billy Graham
So disappointed he didn't do the interview in the Nikita growl Russian accent.
He did the opening to the interview in character
Nikita looks a little like ultimate warrior.
Nah! This dude has a pulse.
Looks a lot like Superstar Billy Graham now? Hmmm......
He looks fucking great
He was obviously kidding. Oversensitive much?
Wait, he WASn'T Russian?
That was his character!
Its a beutifull thing for a man to give up wrestling to care for ailing wife he's my respect goes out to him amen
Nikita biggest problem unless he had Flair carrying him in the ring he was bad. But one Goldberg copied his gimmick.
Naketa should have told Arne you what jesus can do about working and smiled and walked away
He sounds like Vlad T.V 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
People get out of life what they want
Some people move on. Others may choose not to
BROTHER YOU ALWAYS MAKE ME SMILE YOUR 2 months OLD AND 8 DAYS IF YOUR LIKE ME SOMETHING ABOUT 59 I NO YOUR A GREAT MAN ONLY 1 AND IT YOU IM IN MISSISSIPPI my home town for 60 years
He didn’t recall yeah okay LOL
I heard he a priest
He is an evangelist and his sermons are really good. Some of them are on UA-cam.
Arn was over rated just like Goldberg and Samoa Joe
I meant to say you see what jesus can do
Wtf!He isn't Russian?
Nope raised in Minnesota
😂🤣
damn is he american
Good old Minnesota boy !
tim allen wow
@@waynebeauford2334 his name in high school was Scott Simpson and a hell of a football player graduated in 77' out of Robbinsdale High school . Went to school with Rick Rude , Curt Henning , Hawk from the Road Warriors . That is the same high school that produced Rick Flair . Dusty Rhodes gave him his name as this was a wrestling hot bed in that era. Jim Brunzell ,Greg Gagne , Buck Zumoff are a couple others that were produced here. . @@waynebeauford2334 black Jack Lanza and Vern Gagne were always paired up for the belt it seemed . I was a big Crusher guy in that time . Loved him as he was so entertaining . Always had a cigar and would boast of going jogging with a 16 gallon keg on his shoulder and coming home when it was empty . Funny guy ! I can still hear him calling Bobby the Brain a weasel.
AA is telling truth 100%
Lol. Says a fan that wasn't there and probably never met either guy.
its called roid rage!
