When you were born somebody had to bathe you and take care of you, people you don’t even know. Same thing when you die. This is very humbling and makes you wanna help where you can as a human being.
Yoh this is some scary iish. I have massive respect for people who are in this type of work. It makes you wonder what would become of us if no one was brave enough to do it.

He's a practical man. This industry is much like medicine, you cannot be there for everyone. You just need to do your job as objectively as you can.

This is my elder brother. It's very sad that this interview was done on the 24th October and a week after he almost lost his life, he was involved in accident. It was almost broadcast posthumously. He is currently sitting at home he can't walk both his legs were broken

He is so professional making us understand that it’s like any other job. You get there, do what you have to, then leave.
As high school teachers, we need to come to terms with the fact that our kids have some much going on for them except just schooling. 😭
I feel like this guy has blocked off so much and I’m so worried about the day he’ll wake up and start processing all those emotions it’ll be overwhelming! He is dissociated , in future he could experience ptsd , anxiety,depression and all that he’s putting up a strong face but he needs to be in touch with his emotions and possibly seek some psychological support just for the future . He talks about how he doesn’t react to certain aspects of this job eg the rituals and comforting, he’s blocking all those emotions off . I hope you see this and try to avoid future mental health issues because it’s real, you’re still a hero in my eyes but take time to take care of your mental health dear.
The day you start watching morticians videos,you begin 5o understand that they do take care of their mental health especially if it's their passion😊.There is one on YT who's based in America and the other one in India who retrieves dead bodies from rivers,lakes,seas.He says that he enjoys the work so much.
If you think of it as any other career, as he explained it so well himself, you'll realize that he has not dissociated. He is working professionally and is so respectful of his career.

I relate so so much to this guy's experiences shame because my mom also owns a funeral parlour. My highlight of this video was Relebogile's facial expressions 😂😂😂🤞🏾. My face was always like that until I also got involved in the family business, mind you I'm a girl.
It's really a sad reality shame. One thing I always pray for is to never come across a corpse that has eyes wide open😩, I think I would die or pee on myself in that instant.

When I discovered this channel this year , it had just about 33k subscribers now is over 100k. It is growing fast. Well done Relebogile, you are doing great work. Actually you are born for this!
I worked at the Hospice where we were losing patients more often, now i'm working at the Hospital, i am still dealing with dead people, meaning to clean and to wrap the body, ready for undertaker.
I don't get used to see someone dead. It is heart breaking to see a person suffering from pain, at the same time it's not nice to see a person passed.
I think a lot and i picture the deceased for a long time.
You really help me by saying this i already pay money i wanted to do a diploma in nursing but if it involves dead bodies i really cant manage i wanted a breakthrough in my life as i have been hustling an office admin job and i dont get it so i wanted something that can give me jobs but honestly im not a strong person eho can close somebody s eyes wash dead bodies oh i wonder what can i do in order for me to get a job

I had to be the one dressing my mom at the funeral parlour the day before her burial. I remember being so upset about the 2 men who worked there who were supposed help me. They just carried her like they didn’t care, they didn’t show any emotional concern when I cried, I mean not even give me a hug and I was in that room alone. I understand maybe they remove themselves emotionally but I wish they could be trained to learn to learn how to deal with mourning families.
Remember men naturally are instrumental not emotive like women,they want to see the work done,especially dealing with the deceased that's why they seem impersonal,my dear..its sort of adaptive mechanism because it's not nice to deal with the deceased,weshu.
I think these people go through a lot...they need counselling. Their emotions are numb. It is not that they dont care🥲
Remember you're NOT the ONLY customer they see, imagine if they were to hug, cry and comfort 10 people a day, ijoo! You were expecting a lot from them.

They were honestly giving you space to say your goodbyes.
And some families have rites they need to perform so that also gives them a minute if they stay out of their way. In a sense .
They also do this on a daily. From 9-5. Sometimes longer.
Perspective, Sometimes a different set of lenses frees us.

I am sad to read a comment of his accident and subsequent inability to walk. He has such vast experience and knowledge to actually start his own practice.
I have a cousin who does this job and he is now a little mentally unstable and is highly addicted to drugs .... In reality we all need this services and they need our prayers this aint easy

After dealing with a mafia funeral parlour in 2019 that kept on threatening us the then grieving family, I researched more on morticians jobs and I think I can do the job for the sake of giving people a decent farewell. I believe that dead bodies or spirits cannot hurt anyone who is trying to help them.
There's a channel of a mortician I like watching and makes it look fun😊.She says even if she had another career being a mortician fulfils her as it's her passion.So,go for it girl and never look back😊.

The guy is so brave and collected, I lost my dad 10th of November, I thought I understood death but NO!!! I always hear his voice and his face is always with me, I am failing to sleep 😭😭😭I break down everyday it's a month now, death is traumating,
It is indeed, the trauma stays for a long while. I would also hear his voice calling my name, but with time you begin to embrace the thoughts and images that brought the trauma. A month is still fresh, one day the tears will dry up and rather you will have a smile on your face remembering the precious moments shared.

My Granny passed on early July and as the family we were afforded an opportunity to see her for the last time inside the coffin and I knew from that moment I'll be dealing with crippling trauma. The sight of a casket creeps me out, now a dead body is a whole different story even though it was of a person I knew and loved dearly. Since that day, I haven't been able to sleep at home let alone be in the house alone. It breaks my heart but it's my reality and people close to me do not understand it at all.
Your granny was a spirit in a body, just like you and the rest of us. She used that body to express her love for you, to hold when you were a baby, to hug you when you fell trying to walk for the first, to hug and hold you when someone hurt you as a such. Through the same body she continued to express her love, support and protection throughout her life with you. In the later years of her life she didnt have to do much but her presence through that body was everything. The lifeless body you saw represent an end of a journey, an end to her expressing herself through that body. She is loving you now from a distance. For a while her energy or sense of her spirit or the emptiness left by her departure will still feel the walls of her house. Accept her passing and surrender, she still loves. Why would allow yourself to be tortured by an image of a body that was used to express love for you? You wouldnt have known your granny except through that body. Life is stages, in one stage she was in a body in another she is a spirit connected with the divine. Loving you from a distance this time around. You can also be grateful for mortuary people who tried their best to give you the best possible last image of her. Celebrate her life.

We have a lot traumatic stories from this industry, I used to work at a funeral home/mortuary as well as forensic unit and I honestly feel that I felt a sense of purpose during that period in firstly handling the deceased with dignity and dealing with the grieving families and give comfort. It’s imperative to be patient, peaceful and project strength when in this type of business as you dealing with families in a vulnerable state and you need to take a role of pillar.

😂😂 Rele's facial expressions. I kind of relate in some way. I'm a medical student so for the first 2 and a half years of my studying atleast once a week, we had to work with cadavers(bodies donated to science by families and unclaimed bodies from government hospitals). The room was ALWAYS cold and you had to literally touch and cut different parts of the body depending on the system we're studying. And we were taught to always respect those bodies cause they were someone's family. It truly was a humbling experience.

When he described the last breath the dead body give after being put in a stretcher I almost threw my phone with horror 😱, but after he described the situation where he had to hide in a grave.. ...that lifted my spirit with laughter 🤗🤗🤗.

Found my dad in a bad condition when he disappeared and he was discovered inside a river😥😥 i still cannot unsee what I saw since 2017 till today but thanks to guys like him my dad was dressed properly and the wounds on his face were covered so that we could see him for the last time 😭😭😭 its so scary xem the cold room is hell on its own🤞🤞

Culture and tradition differs from tribe to tribe. Not everyone conducts funerals the same way. Just like in some tribes they bury their people in the early hours of the morning, just after sunrise, in the afternoon or at night. It honestly just depends on the family and their culture.

What would we death-fearers do without these folks. This is more than just a business. It is more of a calling that one gets ordained for somewhat in this life ,an undertaker family friend once remarked to me. I guess most us we hardly express gratitude to these service providers once the funeral is over simply because we believe it was a business deal, finish. May I use your platform to express my gratitude to these fine gentlemen and ladies. In my parents' family I have seen them literally bury everyone from parents to siblings. Out of a family of ten, I am the only one still alive. Thank you for the show Relebogile...
This was very informative as Environmental Health Practitioner doing inspections at mortuaries I can attest public facilities need an upgrade honestly and mostly dnt even comply regardless of fines and summons and worse with state of the country closing them down is not the best option😒 kunzima you end up don’t eat because it’s baaaaaad😩
On the other side i’ve always wanted to ask my partner such questions because at his home also have same business but he’s always just neutral and relaxed, where as after inspections am always terrified🫣 But now I totally understand his side but mina am still not fit shame no matter how much I try am too emotional 😭

Hes mature, never comfort a weeping person except if its family but not on a professional level, just make sure a person is not gonna hurt themselves, i learnt from a counselling training. Allow ppl to cry to get the emotion out, otherwise you might say comforting words that dont make sense to them.
