Yes... absolutely. Spread the word brother. Better and more exclusive options out there people....not saying people should not buy Hot Wheels anymore. But keep it at retail Premium if you must.
As someone who has missed numerous releases due to web site issues or been too busy and just forgot about a release this is a small price to pay considering I would have to pay more for scalper prices.
Totally worth it.I did the math and divided the releases by the $100.And it's only $3 extra per car.Well worth it. Plus we don't have to sit by the computer every Tuesday at 9 AM and pray that we get the car when we're just guaranteed it right off the bat.
Hot Wheels is a sad reflection on the stupidity of collecting. I say start with MiniGT which look far more realistic or Choro-q for far more unrealistic. Or just regular mainline HW for good value.
literally 1000% this is what I've been preaching this entire time. I know the diehards think all I do is bash hot wheels but honestly it's a mindset shift and they're just too stuck in their ways. There's literally a better life out there for true passionate collectors.
Yup. This might be my last year with them as well. When my membership expires i will say "up yours" and Bu Bye.. At the current cost for an RLC with Shipping to Canada is around $50, I can get 3 maybe 4 from different companies and get better quality. Looking at other options and yours my friend is making the switch very promising.
PREACH! 🙌 This is a total money grab. They are NOT giving us we don't already have with our $10 membership. IF they included the master sets like the STH and Master Mainline Set but they DON"T. I'm going to take a wait and see approach.
I just "renewed" my RLC membership just so I could get the Nissan that was just released. I hear that more cool cars are going to be release this year. With this new upgrade to the membership, it should be interesting how it works out for collectors like me that only get a few releases of the RLC cars. I forsee that it's going to be even more troublesome to get some of these releases because of this overdrive membership that alot of collectors are going to have enough and kiss hotwheels goodbye.( me probably included) I think that in the long run, Hotwheels just shot itself in the foot with this program. I don't think they thought it thru completely.
I quit the RLC years ago due to all of the problems. One of those problems being all the scalping that goes on. With guys that have 3, 5, 10+ memberships and enough money to buy the fastest possible internet, taking all the cars and then reselling them at an absorbent price (scalping). Tell some of these guys even pay their non collector friends to help get the cars for them. You know like a small finder's fee. and yes, it is nothing more than a way for Mattel to grab even more of your money.....
I made a video on my channel discussing this. I agree with you with paying for shipping, taxes and not having any type of rewards. I don’t agree that scalpers will have an advantage just because you can only get one unless the limit says 2. Also scalpers would probably be using bots to secure a large quantities of stock. So why spend money on a membership when you can use bots?
I just got 2 RLC cars I wanted in a row. No reason to leave. However, I have taken an interest in 1:24 cars recently. Especially Big Time Muscle and Jada.
Im with you on this one! This is just a blunt insult to the "Fans" But sadly they will pay for this. Its cheaper to buy on ebay at this point I would much rather buy collector grade models from various other brands!
Bro I collect both hot wheels and other brands like inno/ignition models. But bashing one kinda gets old. People collect what they like. Like tryna conform people to a religion on car collecting 😂. No hate. Just speaking my mind how you do brotha.
It's perfectly OK to actually NOT be apart of something just because it exists. Don't become a sheeple. You realize I have access to EVERYTHING but even I draw the line.
Yeah, it's wild that Mattel found a way to scalp themselves while writing themselves a million dollar check. (10k*$100). They mentioned in each of the overdrive emails that it's limited to 10k memberships and you know they're not making 10k more of each car to compensate as that will hurt the "value" of limited run RLCs, which means they're even harder to get on the drops and the cost of the overdrive club is now overhead the scalpers and resellers will pass on to the collectors. Mattel wins, the resellers and retailers win (no judgement. You'd be silly not to take advantage of it at your shop) and the rest of us lose.
I did it, reluctantly. I collect the other brands too, however. I don't care too much for mainlines and the STH/TH stuff. I work during most releases and my profession doesnt always allow for sitting and staring a computer screen to fight for a car that sells out in 30 seconds. I do feel that this should have been something that is guaranteed as a basic member, maybe set up differently. instead of opting out of each release if they gave the option to opt in to a release. each member is guaranteed 1, can battle it out at the drop for a second if they so choose. WIth that said, I'm moving my concentration to building dioramas and displays rather than gathering more pristine packaged cars to stick in a box and stuff in storage.
Got the rlc drive. There is going to be taxes and shipping fees everywhere. Now i dont have to rush at 11am to get a casting lol. If i dont like it ill just skip it or re sell it. Scalpers would have to buy many rlc drive on each account and that doesn't make sense. Not every casting is sought after
weird. im not an overdrive member and ive gotten the max amount of rlc's each drop. i just log on at 9am put it in my cart and pay. whats so hard about that?
Rlc was always bullshit to me, I've tried my hardest and never could get any of them, such a rip off, then add scalpers... I tried my best for the longest time for even cars I didn't want... always sold out or page messing up.
Some of you take these cars waaaayyyy too seriously they're just cool looking toy cars that are fun to collect, humans make everything political it's kinda stupid
I'm so glad i've moved on to other brands. 2 years ago i would want to get every RLC. Now i don't care. If i miss it that's more money going to other brands. Not paying that 99 bullshit
Im waiting for the release of 5 different cars i already paid for. i think the new F1 is the longest wait right now, which is june 2025 my next one is either the matchbox g wagon or the RLC VW DRAG BUS id have to check 😢
This guy has no idea what he's talking about. If you do the math and divide the hundred dollars by other releases it's only three dollars per car extra and you're guaranteed the car Well worth the hundred dollars
For me this hobby is way more than Mattel. I mean if I won't have an opportunity to get the model for the right price (I'm EU), well, okay. It will be sad, but I won't pay more than it's worth for exactly me. Like with Inno64, I have CLDC for the right price, but I don't have TopSecret. I can buy one and I believe it would be the most amazing model in my collection. And still it is not worth the money in current price with all shippings and other things. Mattel just canceled shipping to my country. Of course there are other ways like resellers. But at all I can't understand their strategy and if I will not have an fair opportunity to take that models, well.. It is as it is. Even if they make really great RLC's (those with display cases). It's just sad, because it is hobby and they do things so hard. But from their side they always were about only money making, but not about money making + fair hobby. Maybe in old times, but not in nova days.
For real rlc collectors, it worth to sign up rlc override. No need to spend more money buying from reseller. Just hope all the rlc is ur favorite cars. Yes I'm going to stop buying rlc. I jointed rlc last year. N my 1st rlc purchased is the green jaguar n mattel misssed out my order n refund my money instead post out my order.
No it's not worth it. It's a scam man. They make 35000+ You just watch thee complaining where most of the stuff is ready to get after the sale. Except for 2 or 3 releases this year most stuff will take hours to sell out.

The supra and rx7 are membership year 24, but I doubt we will see those until 2025. This overdrive ends dec 31st. 2024 so for those it will have to be 2025 overdrive. The chameleon r34 shouldn't be too long away. We're already seeing people offer pre orders for unspuns and loose of it.
It's time to move on people. There are far better alternatives in 2024!
Yes... absolutely. Spread the word brother. Better and more exclusive options out there people....not saying people should not buy Hot Wheels anymore. But keep it at retail Premium if you must.
They can’t fix the site or shipping problems but they got time for a new membership.. they want your money and dont care about ANYTHING else.

still wondering why some people always get blinded by nostalgia rather than admitting the facts that hotwheels is not the best diecast brand todas

For the price they are. Go buy mini gt for a dollar if you can lol

The membership limit is 10k. So I imagine that’s the total they can make on top of regular memberships.
There could be 1 million member ships but I’m from Canada so no matter what I wouldn’t get one.
Yup. This might be my last year with them as well. When my membership expires i will say "up yours" and Bu Bye..

To be honest. 10$ a year for membership is not much. If was 10 a month like a ring camera then no doubt I would be upset
I am moving away from Hot Wheels to Mini GT and Tomica Premium instead.

If tried 5 times. 2 times i managed to get the magnus Porsche and white integra. Both times I had to put my card info while in line. So it's possible
At least cars don't run out as fast with so many more being made. I buy to collect not to flip. I only buy the ones I like anyway.
Never getting RLC again even in the secondary market
