How to repair your skate shoes so they last forever

- Beat up shoes from tricks is a struggle every skater goes through. Here's a way to recycle some of your old skate shoes, and extend the life of your current shoe. If you have any other shoe repair hacks, leave them in the comments! Also, how long do your skate shoes last, and what shoes do you skate??
Reasons I like do this:
- Saves some money
- I don't like breaking in new shoes
- Forces me to get rid of / recycle my old shoes
Other notes:
- Try to buy skate shoes that have suede near the ollie patch of your shoe. Suede lasts much longer than canvas.
- My ollie spot tends to wear out after one or two months of skating, but the sole of my shoe can last anywhere from 8 months to an entire year (I tend to buy shoes with special soles that are meant to last longer -- Etnies Michelins specifically, not sponsored).

Cool tip bro
Bro you are so good at teaching
You could just keep on adding parts to your shoes without it already having a hole so you don't need tape.
Just started skating and tried to do it in converse, never again 💀
the one stars and louie lopez pro are so good
I’m wearing ctas pro, it’s just a regular chuck taylor but it’s made of suede
@Trey Pope gross feet havin ahh, (all jokes.) How are they? I jus got a pair
@@pirty-dirty-bops3734 they are de-stroyed there’s a big ahh hole on the side I would flick on and a smaller one closer to the front
board control is stupidly good but the durability is absolute garbage
I just put the straight up goo on my shoes. It’s like getting a new layer of rubber. Granted, my toe wears down first from kickflips.
Good idea. I just buy used skateshoes off Vinted. Not beat up ones most are only worn a few times by people who don’t actually skate but cost like £5-20 depending on the shoe. Vans especially.
I started sniffing the shoes goo and now I can’t skate anymore:(
Thanks so much this helped
still on my first pair, skating nautica right now
So cool never thought about recycling old skate shoes like that to make patches. I have been using super glue , cloth , and duct tape to make patches for my skate shoes and it works well. We gotta figure a way to fix the worn down bottom of the shoe to make it last just a few more days 😂
Stick n Flick also is great!
Great video and method. Shoe goo can hold up on its own to repair holes as well, but just won’t last as long. I’ve actually used it to repair my sole and I’m surprised how long it’s lasted.
Actual genius right here thx jason
Shoegoo alone would be total fine aswell
If your laces are ripping as well, you can try getting sueded patches, cutting them in strings that are wide enough to have half of them in shoe goo and the other half on top of the eyelets of the shoe. Let it dry for a day and say goodbye to ripped shoelaces
This is exactly my problem. I put a hole there on my Converse in the first day, now I got some standard Vans and skated them twice, and I almost have another hole. It's beyond me why they would put the suede anywhere BUT the place where your foot rubs the most, which is at the ball of the pinkie toe. All they have to do is extend the suede a little bit.
Thanks soooo much!!!
my dunks just has a massive hole by my toe side and the sole has became a polony sandwich
I buy my skate shoes from Walmart..
Airwalks..
Don't judge.. I've been skating since the 80s.
Besides.. Skate Shoes for $20..ain't bad at all.
I've been skating the same Emerica Provosts for months now, theyre amazing
Any tips for fixing the sole? Always get a hole near my big toe, before anything else..
Same, mine always smooth out and rips before everything else has a chance to blow out
Not a fix for the sole, but possible a fix for the cause. You’re likely pivoting your feet in place as you’re about to pop. It’s a habit for a lot of skaters and it’s just something to notice and grow out of. Try placing your feet in the position of the trick before popping, and work on not shimmying your feet
I don't really have a good solution for the soles. I've tried shoe-gooing the sole directly, but this only ends up lasting 3ish weeks, and uses too much shoe goo to be practical. I'm all ears for suggestions if anyone else has any though! My only tip is to buy shoes with special soles (I usually get Etnies Michelins, which last way longer than any other shoe I've tried. Not sponsored btw =p)
@@JKSkateWax thanks for the tip! I'll definitely try that
@@RegularJason thanks Jason fot the tip. I'll try to find those shoes in my country :)
My half cabs lasted for 6 months and I'm currently using old skool
this is the vid i was hoping to find
I got some Nike SB shanes a week ago and so far holding up great
Update?
@@bobndomleonardi kickflip area has completely worn down, theres a small hole forming in the ollie area, despite this i dont really like the shoes
Shoe: Let me die already! 😢
I use that military pay to get the cheap ass vans at the exchange 😂 ima start doing this trick tho too. Once the left shoe goes out I’ll gut it to fix my next pair when that goes out.
I love skating vans pros but I also have some good experience with maranas
I get bullied at school for this with holes or no holes how do I prevent my shoes from getting messed up
When I was in school i was so proud of myself walking around with blown out shoes from skating. Some people just don't get it lol, their loss.
I use vans and my shoes wear from the inside at the ball of my foot and eventually through the bottom a hole after only a year and some months.. how can I keep some sole?!
I stop using patches because glue is expensive I started melting wat ever plastic I find dripping it onto the hole a straw or Weedwhacker string works perfect
Michelin skate shoes?
I skate in my older sisters air forces that she colored with paint and I look like a total freak when I skate
Just buy non abrasive grip tape if you’re not sponsored, I’ve been skating it for about a month now and haven’t noticed a real difference. Just make sure you inset it about 1/4 on an inch, basically cut the tape to the same ratio as a tech deck cause the rubber doesn’t wear like regular grip
my shoes last for about 2 months and my last pair were some dc tonik s
The inside of my converters are tore like where my toes are, fucking hurts man
What if you use leather shoes ?
its always the white rubber part 🙄
it will make your trick become weird, buy a new pairs and make sure using shoegoo before it get a hole on its
My vans lasted like 6 months..
What's really annoying is the trend where shoe companies skimp out on materials at the heel region. I primarily do heelflips and it's so annoying to see canvas or some other non-durable tech material while the toebox is the only durable part. Not everyone does kickflips all the time 🤦♂️
Jordan 3's so far holding up good
WAT
🤣
Joke
This is exactly what I do. I use contact glue though and I find it to be better. My cue to change shoes is the hole in the sole, but my question comes here....my back shoe is pretty much new and the hole is in the front shoe 😵 how is this possible?
Mine too. I think it's cause i lift my back foot to put it on the tail, but then i have to shimmy my front foot into position for a trick. I guess the solution is just to position the front foot first, that way there's no need to shimmy either feet. It's such a habit tho
Im still on my first pair bc im a beginner
I’m a very big vans skate slip on man
5months plus nike blazers
Crocs got insane board control
pls try the napa skatepark it is so nice
Napa skatepark looks sick! I'm always trying to check out new skateparks, so next time I'm in the area I'll swing by 🤙
thank you for reading my comment
I am skateboarding nike sb charge
Y’all sleeping on duct tape wrap that ish like 3 times and it’s good 🧍🏻
just use non abrasive griptape
How do you deal with torn laces?
not asking me but what i do is I get some suede patches and either glue them on or stitch them onto the eyelets so it acts as a little guard
Hilarious
How to make your skate shoes last longer. Stop skating etnies.
