I love climbing, ziplining, skydiving....But I am afraid of heights. Even if I know I'm mostly safe strapped into safety gear it gets me everytime. My legs start shaking, I get sweaty, and the heart rate goes up.....Such an overwhelming feeling of happiness and accomplishment when it's over though. That's what makes me wanna do it
Me tooooo and it happened to me suddenly !!!!
Love ur vids Lex! Keep on the good work
I went to a mountain several weeks ago and used an open lift to get up and down.
Getting up was 'easy', however going down was a nightmare. Being confronted with the heights now, i started uncontrollably think how i will fall. Falling down became like a magnet and i started panicking. Jumping off the lift became less of a crazy idea (20-30 meters from the ground). In this moment i grabbed the lift on two spots, closed my eyes and tried to think i was somewhere else. My sister was on the other seat, she was asking me what is wrong, but i could not answer. I was sweating and i thought i would pass out. My blood pressure dropped. One part of me knew i was safe, but a larger part was not. I always had fear of height, but this time it was a powerful experience. Went we finally got down, i felt so dizzy. I was drained mentally.
Heights is my number #1 fear and I begin to tremble.
It ticks me off. I've always been athletic and have a great sense of balance but that completely disappears the moment i'm more that 10 ft off the ground. Was building a roof for my shop a few weeks back and literally had to crawl on it while my 52 yo dad just walked from 2x4 to 2x4 not bothered by the slight sway and 14 ft drop.
@@logoski589 just gotta make it your bitch. The only way out is through
Awsome! cant wait till games have 360 video!
In the Ted talk (going blind in space) of astronaut Chris Hadfield (99% spelled wrong) he describes how the fear is different than the danger. It was such a strong talk. Highly recommended
I used to jump from heigh places, climb high trees, fear of heigh did not exist in my book...one day I woke up and I realized that I became afraid of heights all of the sudden my legs would not move I can't look down even tho I know it's irrational...I've been trying to figure out how did it happen or why :(
Lexxx another great guest!!!!
The ocean waters and car accidents are my biggest fears as of this moment. Not a fan of heights either.
My fear of heights negates me from taking a flight, anything. When I was young my Uncle took me on a Sesna flight, no fear. Something new.
Always think about those poor people in the twin towers couldn’t imagine
Or, even if not on the same level since they chose it, the people who fell from the towers depicted in the thumbnail. But yeah, the people who jumped on that day shall stay seared into our collective memories...
I have ZERO tolerance for the have my cake and eat it crowd. Like it or not everything you do is possible only because of the very people you so despise and their despicable deeds. Personally I am quite comfortable knowing ruthless decisions are made and orders carried out so I can literally do whatever I so choose. Doing “whatever “ also comes somewhat stress free because I needn’t worry about some hodge E driving his suicidebaru into my daily round(s) of golf or my wife’s place of business, children’s school etc. Suck it up buttercup, your idealistic utopia is sponsored by the military industrial complex. Deal with it in short order so you can join the real world. Dinah Shore and Fred McMurray aren’t green acreing their happy asses through the door anytime soon. You don’t want to be that person do you?
@@michaelstilger8410 you won't last long.
Is this man Scarecrow from Batman?
"Hey, Andrew, what do you want to be when you grow up?"
''Boogeyman"
It just occurred to me that John Carmack would be a great guest to Lex show
Or John romeroe and Tom Hall... Carmack is a genius...
Peter Molyneux 😏
Lex could play himself, in this position, in movies, and be just fine lol
Fear is just an emotional state of the mind which is personal experience of thought(s) that makes one feel to the big “What If’s”.
My dna says I have a fear of heights; I went skydiving 12times loved it.
The movie The Walk about the guy who tight rope walked between the twin towers in the 70s. Watching the scene from my couch where he steps off the edge on to the wire I got very stressed out and curled up on the couch. Yeah my fear is heights.
It would be interesting to see how people who work at heights would get on in this test
Like he said it’s most definitely universal. I’m not even high per-say usually 6-40ft but still scary. Just gotta make it your bitch. The only way out is through.
Fear of height is universal, apart from Alex Hunold.
Look into 8d audio
I look forward to being high. My fear is rooted in NOT being high.
24/7-365
Buzzin like a dozen
The ONLY way to get by
Sharks, yep I'm out.
Lol sick haircut
I’d be super interested to see what parkour athletes or other people who have intentionally conditioned themselves to heights would feel
One wonders if those who are suicidal can be helped with that jump VR environment?
Haven't watch the vid yet but before I do, I just want to say am only scared of one thing in the world and that's heights
Hey Lex, I really enjoy your videos, but the amount of plastic water bottles being used always sticks out to me. Maybe you could give out some Lex Fridman reusable bottles?
I learned nothing. Heights scary. The end.
Does Lex have a bet with someone that requires him to say "philosophical" in every question no matter how senseless?
I also think it’s part of the rules that he has to act like he’s less interested in being there than the guest...
I don’t have a fear of heights. I have a fear of lazy humans cutting corners, so fuck tall buildings and airplanes. Hahaha
Can we please get a VR story where we get to be in the room during this episode? I mean, good lord. Quite literally 2 of the most attractive men my mind can conjure 😫🔥
I'm a straight guy and I can tell these dudes are good looking.
fear of heights is common with contactees
horror games of the future will be designed in labs
*actuall Black Mirror episode*
You did a pretty good job Traumatizing me, thank you.
Public speaking. Yikes!
This guy is built like a wrestler
This guest is talking as if immersive game engine developed virtual reality content is not a thing. He talks as if stereoscopic audio and mono source environment audio does not exists. Why are you using 360 video when the ability to create content like Half-Life Alex and Rhythm of the universe: Ionia vr games are possible!
maybe he just doesnt have the funds for it
can imagine that stuff like hl alyx is quite expensive to code
(Political Playbook)
Here's how it works. In Iran General Solemoni was gaining popularly for his actions in Iraq. This made him the Ayatollahs only competitor...now Russia gets most of its oil from who? Iran
So the Ayatolla sold out the General, and needed Trumps help to what? Stay in power.
So after the drone strike killing the General, and they dropped a shitload of munitions on him. Because if he survived he would surely know the Ayatolla had sold him out. Then Iran is allowed to launch 22 missiles onto a base housing US troops with no retaliation, reassuring the Iranian masses of the Ayatollas power. Just as Trump assured the American masses of his.
This is the world we live in people.
As you can see today theyre up to their old tricks. Trying to run the "end around" play again with this strike on a nuclear site.
Just like the Republicans and Democrats do you stateside.
They are all capitalists duh??? And you, your a forced educated Uncle Tom who thought he was smarter than some other Tom back in your hometown.
