The story of the Challenger 2 being immobilised, then pelted (ineffectively) with RPG's for ages before being rescued, lives rent free in my head. Imagine firing multiple anti-tank rockets at a tank at close range and the crew are so unphased they can just carry on making a brew..
"I think some fool just shot at us..." Baneblade jokes aside, there's something to be said for inducing tank shock by simply absorbing anything the infantry can sling at you.

Another thing about the Sherman, on top of all the things you mentionee, was that it was "average" for everything else. It's armor? Average. Gun? Average. Speed? Average. Average isn't bad, average is still a tank that performs as well as any other. Plus it's reliable, easy to learn and operare and high crew survivability. This contributes to it being such a successful tank.
I think the Sherman was above average in some areas such as turret traverse speed, optics, turret stabilization and its superb reliability and maintainability. The Jumbo versions could even survive an 88 hit. The reliability and maintainability made it a force multiple with a high proportion in service.
@@russman3787 They didn't loose reliability, they lost a little mobility in that they had to enter ditches more slowly and were not as fast. They were often used as lead tanks.
I usually only take half seriously this guy and I think that's what he usually wants, but his choice of ''loving'' the T-72 and derivatives because it's a bad tank and the tank of choice for the baddies since more than 30 years so it's a positive thing for the West is pure genius, one of the best moment of this series.

I've never heard of this guy, but he does a great job of imitating every comic book and hobby store commando I've ever met. His comments about the Pentagon reformists are spot-on.
Not really, it was a good tank when it was first built during the what late 60s and 70s, but today standards it’s out classed, plus it and the T-64 were the first tanks to have composite armour, while NATO were still fielding M60s with just cast solid armour, wasn’t until the Abrams when US used composite armour. Plus in desert storm the US was going up against sand monkeys who didn’t know how to use there tanks compared to the Russians, only problem with modern age for the T-72 is the advancement of modern weapons, and the T-72 is just outclassed today, why so many T-72 tanks have been destroyed, meanwhile fewer T-80s and T-90s have been destroyed cause there more advanced and can stand up to better to modern weapons
Okay, so Lazerpig was already my favorite voice-over video essay guy, but now I know he's also my favorite television presenter also. Somebody get this guy in front of the camera more often.
Have to admit the analogy of the brick being made into a sphere was brilliant. Growing up all I heard was how great the Tiger was and how bad the Sherman was, but as I studied more and learned more I realized why the Sherman is quite good for what it was designed for.
"the Sherman is quite good for what it was designed for." Well so was the Tiger. Proved it numerous times from North Africa, to Russia to Normandy. However, it was sometimes used in roles it was not designed for. Neither tank was crap.
And for the same reason the T 72 is remembered as one of the great tanks of the 20th century and of the new century. Designed with overarching strategic concerns warfare in mind it has adequate to above average tactical characteristics, but is best optimized for transport, repair, and production.
a case of the paper and the test range saying the Tiger is great vs a Sherman in a 1 vs 1 duel or a 3 vs 3 duel. fails to account for stuff like the logistic nightmare one tank can be over the other. Does not matter if you have the best tank in the world if you can get it off the little island it was built on (not talking about the UK here but more the small island on the river where some idiot put a tank factory on and now gets informed that the bridges can´t take the tank you just built. It does not matter if your tank is the best if it have the maintenance requirments of 20 hour of maintenence per 1 hour of driving. vs the US sherman that I think was like 4 per hour or so.
Well I'll be damned, we finally can put a face to the name, and he looks pretty epic. Good on you Lazer, love your channel bro, keep growing that puppy.

I noticed the other day, in. The video in tank camouflage, that the credits at the end for production included Lazerpig.
They didn't approve. He broke in at midnight on the way back from the pub.

The fact that we're getting a Lazer pig video, and a face reveal, on the tank museum's channel, is a fever dream. I'm all for this
Christmas has come early this year 😊
The story of the Challenger 2 being immobilised, then pelted (ineffectively) with RPG's for ages before being rescued, lives rent free in my head. Imagine firing multiple anti-tank rockets at a tank at close range and the crew are so unphased they can just carry on making a brew..
That's the sort of gear you want to go to war in, the absolute trust and confidence in your kit gives a massive morale boost
That is probably the most British reaction to that situation I could imagine.
@brettwood1351 Nah they would have had to smugly stuck their head up during each break in the fire and say.
"Problem Boy?"
To go full British.
"I think some fool just shot at us..."
Baneblade jokes aside, there's something to be said for inducing tank shock by simply absorbing anything the infantry can sling at you.
Challenger 2 qas destroyed instantly in Ukraine as soon as it got to frontlines. It just a mediocre tank

okay. I've waffled on whether or not I like Lazerpig's content.
I'm sold. That was priceless.
Yep. That was the most fun I had in weeks watching youtube. 😆😆😆

I love how you could hear the cameraman desperately trying not to laugh at the end
Is... is Lazerpig wearing a French General's uniform? Can you imagine the look on everyone's face at the museum when he shows up wearing that? lol. I really hope he went through the front door like that. Great video as always from the Tank Museum, and a great collaboration. I can’t believe they got the real virtual lazerpig. The hand to hoof articulation is remarkable.
I bet these guys had a lot of fun filming with LP, the way he can go from being seriously thought out in his arguments on why he likes each tank in the list, to ranting nonsensically in the most comedic way, just aces. Plus that Drip is top tier
I didn't think I could adore Lazerpig anymore than I already did, but it seems I can.
The way LazerPig talks about himself, I honestly imagined him being American levels of fat. Here in the States we usually call that "heavy set". I was wondering how someone his supposed size manages to maneuver in between all those tanks in storage. That'll do Pig, That'll do.
I don't know why but I was expecting him to be north of 400lbs
He's just got a scotsman's build.

Yeah all the talking down he does to himself made it seem like he's some sort of deformed monstrosity. Looks like a well put together lad that could be healthier but still oozes rizz
I am not even into tanks. I've never once had a conversation about tanks with anyone, thought about tanks outside of when there was some reason for them to be newsworthy, or could tell the difference between any one tank and another.
Yet I stumble across Lazerpig one day and now here I am, watching a tank tier list on the Tank Museum's UA-cam channel.
Congratulations to the Tank Museum, what a coup to get Lazerpig out and about and choosing his Top5! Hugely entertaining, well done to all concerned!
This really reminds me of Soviet Womble's face reveal. He looks normal and exactly as you would expect while simultaneously nothing you could expect.

@@williamzk9083 And don't forget ergonomics.
that "average" sherman is why it gave born to a many variant, and that's why l love the sherman jumbo
@@williamzk9083 The Jumbo kind of lost the reliability of the base M4 to be fair.

The fact that your second favorite tank is the T-72 simply because it was made out of sheer pride, and is an abysmal failure is just fantastic really.
For once, my mental image more or less lines up with reality, and not at all in a bad way.

Have to admit the analogy of the brick being made into a sphere was brilliant. Growing up all I heard was how great the Tiger was and how bad the Sherman was, but as I studied more and learned more I realized why the Sherman is quite good for what it was designed for.
"the Sherman is quite good for what it was designed for."
Well so was the Tiger.
This is one of the single most delightful things I’ve ever seen. Thank you. Keep up the great work!
