HEY ALL!!! I know a lot of you feel some type of way about the hair stylist "cutting ALL my hair off" BUT it was much needed! No need to bash/name call/finger point. Not all stylist are bad! I thought I could be like other ppl and go 9 months without a trim but I was beyond wrong. Since my hair is thick a lot of my damaged ends are easily hidden! So that might be why it appears that I didnt need a trim but trust it was much needed! All and all my goal is HEALTHY HAIR...that's it! OK thats all I'll ever have to say about that topic! I think your hair is gorgeous whether flat ironed straight or natural. As for hair stylist, I admit that I do have a mistrust of them because of my own experiences and witnessing what they'e done to other's hair. (I also have a brother who is a dermatologist and knows the real deal on skin, hair and scalp). A lot of what hair stylist say isn't true when it comes to hair and is not backed up by dermatologist. Hair *stylist* are in the business to style hair. 90% of their training in cosmetology school is in the methods of cutting and styling hair and some train additionally as colorist. Hair stylist will always have the same M.O. which is to cut your hair, convincing you that it *needs* it because it is *split and uneven*. When really they cut it so it looks a certain way,(usually blunt across) and this has nothing to do with hair growth or health.
Hair does not naturally grow evenly all over the head so your hair will never be 'naturally even, or grow all the same length, doesn't mean it isn't healthy or split at all, but the hair care industry has convinced patrons that uneven ends, are not healthy and a blunt cut 'look is' and that's what people believe, So when their hair starts to grow out of that blunt cut which it will do since hair doesn't grow even, they will head right back to the stylist for another cut which is what the stylist wants, to keep people coming back, to generate business/clientale for him/herself.
That's what they are trained to do as they work on manequin's head and cut and style hair and all of the ends of the hair are 'blunt cut. They convince people that blunt ends are better than fairy tail ends. (Better meaning healthier). All of this is their sales pitch to keep warm bodies coming back to their salons to keep their hair trimmed. Its purely marketing and it works as people are convinced by this ploy. These marketing methods in the hair care industry have been around for many years.
The Hair care industry make the bulk of their money by cutting, coloring and styling people's hair, they don't make their money by encouraging people to not cut their hair, that is counter productive for them. So when they see someone come in with long hair, the first thing they will do is CUT it and convince them that it was the right thing to do usually with the same message, your ends are split and uneven and dead, (incidentally all hair is dead). None of this is supported by medical dermatologist. Hair stylist are not doctors.

iLivieforbooks Exactly!!!!! What bothers me most is the fact that there are people that actually think being mixed is associated with having long hair, or "good hair". The shit's annoying because WE HAVE GOOD HAIR. We have to tke care of it in ways differently from others but its still GOOD HAIR, and it can grow long.
Some people care so much about retaining length that they will keep raggedy ends . Your is is still so long and beautiful !

I cannot stress it enough. These hairstylists wack years of growth off. I refuse to let these butchers touch my hair any longer. I hate the Deva Cut. Stop please. Learn how to trim and cut your own licks.

Really cute hair. My hair is half as long as yours and I thought mine was long. I can never complain about my arms being tired after watching you do all that. It must have taken you forever to blow dry and iron that out. I would pay a family member to do it for me. I feel worn out just watching this video. lol

Woo girl you have a lot of hair! Your hair is long & beautiful! I use a heat protectant when I blow dry & flat iron my hair. I don't flat iron my hair often. I use my Denman brush & a wide tooth comb to deranged my hair during the blow drying process.

mwanamke2 lol well I got my last relaxer aug 2006 and i guess about last yr was when it hit tailbone. I never big chopped, I continued to flat iron religiously for the first 4ish yrs so it prob took me a little bit longer to get there. My hair also grows pretty fast. I would say just take care of it you never know what 5 yrs will bring! :)

Thats the same thing I do with my blowdryer....hold it with my knees....Next time Im going to get the blowdryer with the comb attached to it so I won't have to do it...Lol with this 4c hair I need to make it as easy as it gets.

To get my hair the smoothest it can be, I deep condition with a moisturizing conditioner and coconut oil, then a heavy keratin conditioner. I let it air dry in twists with Moroccan oil leave-in treatment, then use a Wigo smoothing brush to flat iron. I tried blow drying (once on my own, once at a salon) and the results weren't as smooth for my coily texture. The Garnier leave-in that you recommended is a new favorite so I will start incorporating that too!
That all sounds great!!! I def learned to stick with what works best....no need to switch it up if its working/giving you great results!! And I'm glad you tried the smoothing milk!!!! I'm in love with that stuff....if they ever dare stop making it they gonna have some probssss!!!

My hair is your texture and I've been natural for a year and a half I've never really had long hair but recently it grew to the longest length my hair has reached (a couple inches past collar bone length straight) and im hoping if my hair continues to grow at this rate it could be long like yours one day and way great videos you have a new subbie ☺️
