Walthers well cars are diecast metal and they run great empty or loaded. I hope they offer their NSC version in a articulated model and their spine car unit to carry the 53' containers.
I agree, I have a bunch of single NSC 53's from Walthers, they are great runners, I would also like them to make some NSC articulated 53's, they are very common in the real world. I also have a bunch of their Thrall single 40's and just got their new Thrall 5 car articulated 40's.
Great video James. To the ones that mentioned about converting couplers to kadee’s. This should have come with a conversion kit. Same with the little package at beginning of video.
they do look like they would have a few pieces that would break off easily. but then again, most of our models are like that now a days. we all ask for more details, and they are giving it to us. very nice.
These are beautiful well cars. However there is one fatal flaw. The coupler box is to narrow to accept any KD coupler including the whisker types. I bought 6 sets and cancelled all 6 because of that. Any car that won't accept a KD coupler is junk. On the Container issue a previous run would not hold several brands and types of 53' containers in the well, including some of Atlas' own containers. This was corrected on the last run.
Even though people are saying that they are shit, they are the best looking 53” well cars on the market the next best thing is from Kati they don’t look as good but the are made with metal and heavy!
I know real trains have up to 100 well-cars, but in HO scale, how would I fit that many in a layout? I doubt it is possible. It seems like I would have to scale that down to 30-40 well-cars. Let me know what you guys usually do.
The club I'm in has an HO scale layout that was built in 2019 and you can easily get away with a train of 60-70 wells (it would stretch around about half of the layout) depending on the type of locomotives you had on hand as well as the type of couplers used!
I bought one set of these. They are pure junk. They do not take Kadee couplers at all and the pockets are designed for those super junky Accurail scale couplers only. The cars themselves are very light and fragile and parts were falling off. Mine derailed often as the parts between the cars were glued on incorrectly and caused them to derail. The original run of these did not accept most 53' containers and this run barely accepts them. Put one container in but try and get it back out without destroying the car. Atlas quality control and detail to quality at a long term low. Do not waste your money folks.

@@jimwebster4267 actually, I emailed Walthers about that and got a response yesterday! They are passing the idea on to their product development team.
I want them to make those, too! I emailed them and received a response yesterday and they are passing the idea onto their product development team.
Where do you get the cars I want to start doing that as my father worked for C&NW for 22 years

Those containers all look like Atlas. I have this model and haven’t had problems fitting athearn walthers or scaletrains containers in.

Ty james for your review on these 53” cars from atlas!

Which brand would you recommend? I heared that on the Athearn ones only fit Athearn containers?
I believe I commented on this video last week when it was posted accidently. Great video as always James 😉👍
The wheels on the articulated area are very large. Larger than 36's. Thanks for the review.
Great review of a nice product, I have broken those stantions a lot on those well cars.
I am a big fan of the Walthers Gunderson Rebuilt All-Purpose 53, I like the metal body weight
@@jeffstrains4014 they discontinued their 53 all purpose well car!
Awesome review video of the container cars
Exelet video james like always

LOVE YOUR CHANNEL :)
What's up James! Great review!
Great video, love the Broncos shirt.
What track in would you recommend for a 53ft well car because I put them on a 18in track and it’s derailing bad please help
Only downer on these cars. Walthers is metal same with Kato. Athearn / atlas is very detailed.
Great video as always
How did you get those on TrainWorld??
Nice well cars James
These wont drag on EZ track curves will they?
Awesome video

It is possible to make them that long in HO Scale, but it depends on how much room you have on your layout
EpicCSX so about 20-30 should be sufficient. You don’t really have to have as many cars as the real trains normally do.

I have to put these light plastic ones behind any die cast cars I have or they will derail in the corners.
I bought a pack of these and tons of parts fell off I have yet to repair them the glue must be bad or something
trains all over might of been cold in transit and glue failed

Ok. I recently purchased some of Kato's new MAXI-IV Well Cars, and they work great, wonder if it was a good idea to purchase those instead of these
@@epiccsx Does the KAto have no issues with other branded Container fitting In?
@@eremyjay No, they don't at all. Best HO Scale MAXI-IV well cars in my opinion
Nice pack
How much are they.

I don't think it is supposed to be that tight of a squeeze
I got these highly detailed well cars and love them a lot. You can find the blue ones in my video: ua-cam.com/video/CUfJ9zkV6s0/v-deo.html
