Yeah something I like to reiterate (you can tell I don’t get invited to parties anymore) is that a lot of “traditional” foods must have been created after the Columbian exchange, which is pretty “modern” (1500s) when we talk about the way thing a have always been
That’s a lot of thai and hmong food in america. Ask people in the mountains or countryside and see if they eat those types of food that we consider thai/hmong food and they would have no idea. Some don’t even use chopsticks
I think stinky tofu is a Chinese dish but its more popular in Taiwan for some reason

As a Canadian, the best ever: Moose Roast! With fingerling potatoes and Bannock! Can't get any better ! You guys have got to try moose meat. Bison is a close second. All the Casinos in the West & Prairies serve Indigenous food and you will love it ❤

I used to work with a lot of Filipinos for a few years and pancit was the only Filipino food that I somewhat enjoy. Lumpia is basically egg rolls but 50% reduction in size. My previous boss was white and he worked in the Philippines for 4 years and after 2 months, he was so close to calling it quits and move back home because he was tired of the food and how limited in choices there were in the Philippines. So when Steve describes his experience with Filipino food, he reminds me of my previous boss lol.

Bart don’t worry im with you, Thai food just doesn’t do anything for me. I think its just trendy right now. I love Chinese and Viet food the best. Japanese and Korean are ok for once in a while. Also i LOVE greek style mediterranean food NOT the turkish kind. Greek got a lotta lemon and tastes healthy in a good way.

All Asian cuisines > any European cuisine EASILY and I’ve traveled to Europe. UK food easily the worst, some the blandest most basic food I’ve ever had. I was there for 2.5 weeks and I only liked 2-3 restaurants tops
Yo French food is good though, Joe. I went to a bistro in Paris and had beef bourguignon. It blew my mind how amazing it tasted. Just warms the soul.

I'm a Filipino and at some point I understand Steve's sentiment about our food. Coz some Filipinos doesn't know how to cook. We are just to respectful specifically to those who are offering us food that even if it tastes like crap we will it eat. I'm sure there's a lot of Filipinos out there that visited their family or friend and the food tasted bad but still they ate it. It's traumatizing 😅
As a southeast Asian I think everything about Philippines is weird. Idk what it is but they have a vibe of being tangentially Asian.
And then they'll say "Don't be shy, you should eat many many of this" then dump more of it to your plate.
