This video is more like a testament to the insane difficulty of the violin. I think she made great progress, as far as I can remember I was way worse at the end of year three.
Thank you so much for the kind words! I guess it is just a thing where you need to keep at it and where the journey needs to be fun, not just the results! The satisfaction of those little improvements here and there!
Keep up the good work! The violin takes many years of practice daily to sound beautiful. I have just crossed the 5 yr. mark and am just now beginning to like my sound….not always, but sometimes.
i feel you. i have been playing violin for 11 month ago and an some days i would have preferred to stop, because sometimes i have the feel i don't make enough progress. It is a very difficult instrument. it takes a lot of patience and time. keep it up!
Oh! It's very nice to see your progress, I've only been there for a year and a half, and the truth is that it encouraged me to see your video, because I feel identified in several of the moments that you showed. Keep going! It's beautiful what you do.
Hey Vero, Thanks for watching! And I can't be more thankful I am encouraging people! I have been pretty much at it for 4 years! I need to get editing, haha! Cheers, Sonja
Great progress, Sonja! You have a lovely tone and nice bow control and most importantly, it sounds like you're loving the journey :) I got a shock when I saw the timestamps include Mendelssohn and Tchaikovsky violin concertos haha. Such a great idea to have first position arrangements. I would have loved to play those when I was learning!
Hey! First of all.. Thank you for all the nice words! 😊 Glad you like my tone and bow control.. it is an area I am still struggling with I find. Haha, I needed easy arrangements from the pieces I like. They motivate me! I usually play them after my practice for fun...
@@DanielLearnsPiano nah, I need to catch up in its totallity.. I really enjoy your videos! I have switched careers and now I am also going to school.. so time management is hard..
I Have played the viola for almost 10 years now and your vibrato improvement is amazing. It took me almost 7 years to learn vibrato at the highest level. Keep improving I can't wait for 4 years!
Thank you! I will try to edit my 4 years soon and upload it somewhere! I wonder something about the viola.. I have tiny hands.. but I assume the fingerboard is bigger on the viola.. how does someone with tiny hands play the viola? The sound of a viola is so pretty so deep!
@@SonjaKreukniet The Fingerboard for me is not much bigger. I started out playing the violin in elementary and middle school then migrated to the viola in high school. The vibrato is a bit different due to the slightly larger strings and slightly larger fingerboard but you would get used to it if you played a violin after a couple of weeks.
That's truly amazing. It's so good to see people being so passionate, and consistently improving their skills. I've seen your one year progress, then second and now third year. That's truly inspiring. I hope to see some more during the year and will be back to celebrate 4th year with you 😊 Congratulations 🎉
Firstly, thanks for watching all of my videos! I like playing the violin. I sometimes need some inspiration and I need to look back at myself playing..progress is slow 😊 I will try to upload more. I am currently changing careers and time is sparse. I am happy if I can practice daily atm. I do want to do another "whats in my violin case" video this year. My entire setup changed.. so that might be fun.. what other content would you like to see if I may ask?
@@SonjaKreukniet I know what you mean. I have a piano channel as well and it helps me staying on track a lot. I hope you don't feel any pressure. Awww I’m so proud of you! I just restarted my violin journey a few months ago. I love your creative ways of practicing like playing duet/multiple part songs with yourself. That’s so fun! My first violin teacher recommended I get a 7/8 size violin too! You’re the first person I’ve seen that’s heard of one. >< my current violin teacher had no clue what I was talking about. I’d started on a 3/4 size because I happened to find one at an antique shop. I play a full size now.
Thank you so much! How long have you been practicing all together? 4/4 was just to big for my tiny hands.. also the height was to much for my neck! Never going back haha!
Congrats on the progress. You have done quite well. Keep it up and let us know after your 4th year 😊. Just got my student violin today and will also start my journey 😅
I just started relearning the violin as an adult too! I just played 2 years in middle school and a few times on the street busking after that. It’s fun but difficult and this is so inspiring to watch! Thank you for sharing your progress
Cool to see someone's progression like this! I just started playing myself 6 months ago. I'll have to make a montage one day of my progress. And it's good you learned to read music. I play by ear and basic theory that I know but I can't sight read music.
Thanks for watching! Cool! I hope you will enjoy your journey! I envy by ear players.. I would be so bad at that if I would try! I am a bad sight reader, haha!
