  • Nestled in the picturesque town of Jardín, Colombia, we had the unforgettable experience of visiting the "Los Naranjos" coffee farm, a gem in the heart of Colombia's renowned coffee region. Owned by Wilson, this farm is where the rich, authentic flavours of Colombian coffee come to life, cultivated on steep mountain slopes at an altitude of 1,877 metres.
Our journey began with a steaming cup of freshly
brewed coffee at Wilson's home. The deep, rich notes of dark chocolate and sweet caramel set the stage for our adventure into the world of coffee cultivation. Soon, we found ourselves amidst the coffee plantations, learning the intricate process of hand-picking these precious beans.
Established by Wilson’s grandfather, Los Naranjos farm stands as a testament to the dedication and hard work passed down through generations. The steep terrain requires careful navigation, making the daily labour of workers-who harvest up to 300 kilograms of coffee beans by hand-nothing short of heroic. With only 1,000 pesos earned per kilogram, their work, whether under the scorching sun or in the pouring rain, is truly a labour of love.
In an effort to understand this demanding work, we joined in the harvest. In 30 minutes, I managed to gather just half a kilogram-enough for only a couple of cups of coffee once processed. The meticulous process of peeling, fermenting, washing, drying, and roasting these beans further deepened our appreciation for each cup of coffee we enjoy.
This immersive experience at Los Naranjos farm has transformed our morning coffee ritual into a moment of deep gratitude for the effort and passion poured into every single bean.
Visit Jardín, Colombia, and discover the artistry and dedication behind true Colombian coffee at Los Naranjos farm-where every sip tells a story of tradition, craftsmanship, and the beautiful landscape that nurtures it.
