    Just found your video. Love your design. When you bring your bobbin thread to the top, you move your threads back and forth while tracking. I've never seen that and was wondering why you do it. I look forward to more videos.

    Fantastic tutorial & music! What are you doing with the threads you trim off? I don’t want to toss them on the shag carpet floor.

      @whirlsnswirlsquilting4362  4 роки тому

      I do have a small garbage bin under both sides of my frame so I try to hit those. Whatever the bin misses, the floor catches. I don't have carpet though so it's easy to sweep or vacuum it up.

    Absolutely beautiful stitching! I recently bought a BabyLock Jewel, but have been midarm quilting on my homemade 12ft frame with my Juki 2010qi for 8 years. I’m so happy to now have a stitch regulator finally! I have been watching your videos nonstop. I’m “collecting” my tools as I go, and would like to know more about your erasing pen that you use to get rid of your blue lines. Where can I find it please?

      It takes a lot of talent and spacial awareness to go backwards, upside down and frontwards to make it all look so even. Fantastic job!

    Dette var så flott å se på. Jeg har kun vanlig symaskin, men quilter alle mine prosjekt på den. Lurte på den pennen du fjerner strekene med, er det rent vann du fyller på ? Hvor er det mulig å finne en slik penn ? Har en med lange børster på, din var mer fast i tuppen.

    May I ask what the difference is between stitch regulator mode and what ever else is there when you free-motion with the swirls and leaves? I was under the impression that the stitch regulator gave evenly spaced stitches. Thank you in advance.

    • @whirlsnswirlsquilting4362
      @whirlsnswirlsquilting4362  4 роки тому

      Sure! When the stitch regulator is engaged, the machine governs the stitch length. In manual mode, I am responsible for the even-ness of the stitches. Does that make sense?

    • @happytraveller8953
      @happytraveller8953 4 роки тому

      @@whirlsnswirlsquilting4362 yes it does. I have a stitch regulator on my Bernina for my attempts at free motion meandering and the stitches still often come out jerky and the tension is wonky even though I try to balance it out before stitching. Not sure if I am going to fast, though I have my speed at the lowest level...so even with the 'help' of a stitch regulator my quilting is still not pretty...

    any thoughts on using a "cheater quilt fabric" 50% cotton, 50% poly. to practice free motion designs? . I've been FMQ'ing for a long time with my domestic machine, getting a longarm soon so I'll have some practicing to do! wondered how well it will sew on 50/50 fabric?

    • @whirlsnswirlsquilting4362
      @whirlsnswirlsquilting4362  3 роки тому +1

      That's a great idea and one I teach my students. You can work on your 'ditch' stitching, ruler work, free motion and filler work with zero investment (in time) piecing quilts for 'practicing'.
