But there is a difference between acknowledging the need for inclusion, while understanding the motives or marketing objectives of a doll manufacturer. I suspect that the market researchers at Mattel cannot hire enough "experts" quick enough to tap into every conceivable, politically acceptable campaign for marketing a Barbie version or caricature. Is Barbie's face the real face of someone with a particular identifiable condition? My instinct, and personal acquaintance, say no; but the suggestion of what seems only a slight resemblance is provocative. And the hosts of this segment are sincere -- enough. Yet, who will deny the happiness of a child?
