  • Hey guys, I can use your help with this one. I picked up the new insta360 Ace Pro primarily to create content for this channel and need your help in deciding if it is better than my already awesome DJI Osmo Pocket 3. I'm looking to constantly improve the videos on the channel and of course improving video quality is a great way of doing that.
    Take a look at the comparisons and let me know which one you like better and why in the comments. Thanks!

    The stabilization of the Pocket 3 has won me over. Shaking on the Ace Pro footage is quite noticeable and kinda makes me dizzy.

    it comes down to low light performance. Got to say in spite of me having a new Ace Pro, the Osmo pocket 3 does a better job than the Insta 360 Ace pro. The image does not jitter and it much sharper than Ace pro.

    @Walking Exp, good comparison.
    Yeah different tools that complement each other for different use cases. Curious, are you able to match colors of both if you use say P3 for travel and AP for active sports and but into one video?
    For me, it was easier to recognize P3 with more natural colors and the bobbing but you did a good job to hold more steady whereas others were hard to watch.
    The AP are much more stable during daylight but the colors were over saturated. Did you have it on low?
    Are you keeping both?

    • @thewalkingexperience
      @thewalkingexperience  4 місяці тому +1

      Yup both cameras are good for their own purposes and have strengths in their own unique ways. The main comparison for this video was to figure out what’s the best walking camera for the channel overall.
      I agree with you on the saturation being too strong and processed on the AP. The settings were out the box so basically untouched and normal. I think for the walking channel vids I’m sticking with the OP3, but since I do bike and drive vids also I’m wondering if I should keep the AP or stick with my older GoPro.

    For two completely different class cameras, I'm glad to see them as a very comparable duo. Both have their strengths and have very different uses per individual, at the end of the day, it's the footage coming out of the camera for the majority of users who don't have to NOR do they have the skills, software and hardware to post edit.

      Yes indeed. Both are superb and at the top of today's portable camera setup. For a traveling walker like myself, I can really appreciate having such a power camera in such a small form factor from both cameras. BTW, great channel and love the videos! Just subbed.

    On first look they both look great at night. On closer inspection the P3 has crisper details for night shots.

    I had both for 2 weeks and at the end I kept the Pocket 3. The quality of the 1-inch sensor is unbeatable whatever the light conditions. In addition, the 10-bit color is an advantage if you want to color grade. Insta-360 is a top class action cam but it suffers the smaller sensor size and the electronic stabilisation which still creates artefacts.

    • @thewalkingexperience
      @thewalkingexperience  4 місяці тому

      My thoughts exactly! Its really hard to beat that 1 inch sensor but the AcePro really does come close. I'm finding that the insta processes the image a bit much for my liking but as they say quality can be a subjective thing that depends on the viewers preference.

    • @bruceskousen5451
      @bruceskousen5451 4 місяці тому +2

      I don’t think the Pocket 3 “blows the insta360 outta the water in low light” as you say. I noticed very little difference in low light between the two. This is because they both have 1 inch sensors. Now if you compared the Pocket 3 or the Ace Pro to the GoPro 12 in low light, the GoPro 12 wouldn’t even be close because it has a smaller sensor.
      Edit: I looked more closely and I do think the Pocket 3 is sharper in the low light examples, but I’m not sure if this is because it’s actually sharper or if it’s due to UA-cam video compression. There’s no doubt the Pocket 3 is a very good camera, but they are for entirely different purposes.

      @@bruceskousen5451 well that ‘s your opinion! Look, I’m a total Insta360 fan! I’ve had the x1, ONEx2, now the X3. I’ve had the go1,2 & now go3. But this Ace doesn’t hit the mark for me. The lowlight footage on the ace pro has too much noise and the colors are too oversaturated. Look the shot where he pans down on the Christmas tree and back up. The insta has blown out colors and glow around the lights and the pocket 3 is crisp and colors are on point (despite the low light) it BLOWS the insta outta the water! It's almost not fair to compare the two using their standard color profiles. The Pocket 3 can shoot in 10-bit log and have the colors and shadows be rendered much better than they are in the standard profile.

  • @AlfredStoppels
    @AlfredStoppels 4 місяці тому +2

    Looking for image quality? The Pocket 3 beats all small form factor cameras. For the price it is superb and even beats a lot of way more expensive camera's. Even without post (as seen in your videos) it comes with fantastic footage (sometimes even cinematic). Everyone talks about having to shoot in D-log, M-log etc ... but on the Pocket the standard setting give a much better HDR and come on, look at the image with standard settings .... it is amazing! Great footage without timeconsuming post, comes in very handy sometimes
    Down sight might be the external gimbal where it comes to damage-sensitivity. Thats where a strong case like the Insta for sure wins it. Pocket is for sure more fragile.
    For a walker .... I would take the Pocket anytime, you want to show where you walk .. the pocket delivers the images in unbeaten quality.

      Thanks for the through comment. I agree completely. You can’t make an accurate 4k comparison here because the UA-cam video compression is pretty harsh. I’ve seen uncompressed 4k 60 Ace Pro footage and it’s very clear. It’s definitely not 1080p. While the Pocket 3 does outstanding video, it’s not a clear winner. It’s MUCH more fragile with its mechanical gimble, it’s more expensive, and it cannot realistically be used as an action camera. If you only had money for one camera, I would lean towards the Ace Pro.

    • @cristianspiridon
      @cristianspiridon 4 місяці тому

      @@bruceskousen5451 Depends what you look for. But how come one camera gets hit with the compression and the other no? Lets be real.. acepro cant even compete for quality! Yes, if you need an action camera then pocket 3 is useless! In my opinion Action 4 or acepro are the only options for an action camera! But for family, vlog or even trip documentaries.. pocket 3 is at least 4 times bettern in IQ than anything else.

      I don't think you'll go wrong with either camera. Like others said, it really depends on your use case and in mine its walking around and filming for the vids on this channel. Personally if action sports and an action cam is what you would primarily use it for then the Ace Pro would be the choice but for everything else I would go with the Pocket 3.

    If you're making videos for UA-cam there's really not a big enough difference between the cameras as far as video goes. If you're making videos for the Discovery Channel you're not watching this video for advice. 😉
    The big difference is going to be weather and location for most people.
    If your weather is more nice than bad and you're not being rough with the camera the Pocket 3 is great.
    If your weather and location are a little more demanding the Ace Pro wins out.
    If you can only have one and you need a camera you can use "no matter what" you would be better off with the Ace Pro.
    If you can afford both, these two would be a good choice for most people.

      I agree. I don't know if it comes across much in the video because of the UA-cam compression but even with the PureVideo (lowlight mode) on the Insta360, you can see some jittering at night. For Walking Video purposes which is what I do, the jittering is kind of a no go. However, when I go skiing or a bike ride, I'd def want to use the insta360 over the Osmo Pocket 3.
