This was a nice winter day in Norway with nice light conditions. Then it was time to test the Dji Pocket 3 against the Insta360 Ace pro. Many will probably think that the choice is easy, but it is not always so.
Dji Pocket 3 is the latest pocket size camera from Dji. With a sensor size of 1 inch. It is something many have been waiting for. The camera delivers quality and superior image quality. The stabilization is fantastic due to the mechanical gimbal. You have color profiles D-Log M and HLG, with 10 bit. This gives you options that are rare to see in such small cameras. But it has its weaknesses, it cannot take a beating, it is not waterproof. So this won't suit everyone. Are you only going to vlog in good weather and you want to use it as a studio camera. Then it's perfect.
Insta360 ace pro is the newest action camera on the market. And Insta360 surprised many. It is solid, with good image quality. You have a flip up screen that is perfect for vloggers. But it also has its weaknesses, you cannot change the lens. The flip up screen is not good for action sports. An sd card door that detaches easily
So which ones should you choose?, simply what are you going to use it for. There you have the answer.

I love the pocket 3, I use it on a daily basis. The blurred background it’s amazing for me. I hope they add a vlog mode in action cams that can give you the same look as the pocket 3. Because I love more the shapes of action cams and the ace pro it’s the best in shape in my opinion. Your videos are always beautiful. Keep them coming 💪🏻👨🏻

I have both, and sold pocket 3 last month (kept Ace pro). Ace Pro is more all around camera than Pocket 3. Benifit of Pocket 3 is gimbal (actually pro and con mixed), and low light that's all. Low light condition, I use my Sony ZVE1 + 11 mm 1.8 which is heaven and hell difference
The use of pocket 3 is limited, its a awesome vlogging camera. But not for much more than that. Ace pro is a great camera. Thanks for watching 😀

Great review. I have the Action 4, Pocket 3, and the Insta360X3. All are great cameras with slightly different purposes. Between the 3 of them, I feel ready for anything I wish to record!

@@paulchin4094 Silly me - I just ordered the Nikon Z8 Full Frame body from B&H Photo. I already have the 24-70 and 70-200 F2.8 Nikon lenses to fit it. With this camera, I can film extremely high resolution photos as well as shoot 4K or 8K video, for those shots that the small cameras just are not capable of getting. Wish me luck - this should be my final camera purchase. I have a grand daughter that plays soccer and I need to reach out for those type photos and videos.

I haven’t had any problems with the sd card door. It seems very tight to me. It’s the same basic design as the GoPro 5, 6 & 7 side door.
Some people don't have any issues with it, mine is fine. But it's extremely easy to flick it open. Thanks for watching 😀

But maybe you should take a look at the DJI action 4. That's a awesome cameras to.

I'll be taking my Pocket 3 to Tromso on a cruise in October. I asked DJI about the low temperature limitation on the camera since it might be used in temperatures below the minimum specified. The agent told me that the only thing that will happen to the camera is that the battery would drain faster. So, in addition to the power handle, I'll be bringing a power bank when we go Northern Lights hunting. Obviously, I won't take the camera out in rain or snow.

Oh as for the snap on mount for the Ace Pro, I covered this in one of my videos, if you read the manual, it actually shows you how to 'snap' it on easily and effectively, I actually did the instruction and it works just fine. But once it's on, it's more solid than the DJI mount, there's no play with Ace when it's locked in, whereas the DJI's mount has a slight wiggle. Also, I also disagree with actioncam being not design to use in low light. In my years of selling action cams, it was one of the biggest demands/requests. There are many action events that are in low light, scuba divers, hunters, mountain bikers are some of the events people use their action cameras in. Action cam use has changed quite a lot in the past 5 years as technology advances, an innovative action cam should allow us to shoot in ANY environment, it should not limit our action.

The wide shooting angle + night shooting ability + battery life + no need to be careful when using it is the best! It’s the best!

Great comparison of two really strong performers. Your introduction was really valuable. There are some who may not understand how important objectivity is, but when you're spending your own money, it really matters. I think both cameras are well worth the cost. Looking at a different subject, I'd be really interested to learn something about the tripods, mounts and other accessories you use to capture your material - and how you use them. Perhaps other subscribers would too.

Yes im gonna do that, just did a low light test with them. But next time I can ad magnifier so its easier to see. Spoiler, pocket 3 is way better. Video will be out tomorrow, I hope.

the pocket 3 has a limitation down to how many degrees? i didn't quite hear what you said. .... also, i will be in environments of -20, -30 maybe -50. ... if i attempted to use the camera for say 1 minute, would it permanently damage the battery? do you know anything about this? i didn't consider this at all. ... already purchased the device.
Hi 😀, the Pocket 3 can handle temperature down to 0 degrees. I did test it in - 6 and it was just fine, but I wouldn't film too long. This is not a camera for low temperatures, then action cameras are better. But it's a fantastic vlogging camera, and excellent image quality. Thanks for watching 😀
Great video. In my opinion the Pocket 3 should be nowhere near the outdoor elements since it is not waterproof or shockproof. It seems more suited for cocktail parties, exhibitions, cooking classes, real estate sales and safe vlogging.

Interesting comparison. You said yourself they are quite different. I need something I can strap to my chest and go mountain biking. And it gets dark in cloudy Scotland when in the forest. Bit worried about the lens and sd cover. I like the look of the GPS viewer unit though. Especially adding GPS data to the video in post processing.
Thank you 😀, in weather like Scotland and Norway you need a durable camera. The ace pro is a good camera and the gps data looks cool. SD card slot door should be ok, not the strongest solution. I've seen videos that you actually can replace the lens. But I'm not sure about warranty.But in my opinion that action 4 is a better action camera. Thanks for watching 😀
@@EspenJohan I've seen a video where someone takes the lens off the Ace Pro too. They've just glued it down. It unscrews if you use enough force to break the adhesive I guess. Might be an option after the first year.

What should I buy Action Camera like Insta360 Ace pro or Dji pocket 3 or Point&Shoot camera like Sony ZV-1 or ZV-1F??
Hi 😀, I would consider a pocket 3 or DJI action 4. Ace pro is not a bad camera, but the colors are way of. DJI action 4 and pocket 3 are 10 bit cameras and have true flat profiles for color grading. If you need a camera that must be waterproof I would go for action 4. Sony zv1 which I have is a great camera, but stabilization is not good, you need a gimbal for it. So pocket 3 and action 4 is a perfect combo if you can afford them both. Thanks for watching 😀

If we are talking about the picture quality, the P3 looks a lot more like a real camera.

So if I take a normal mirorless camera like Sony FX30 and put it on a gimbal I will have a lot of problems with the people on the streets.
With the P3 from more than 70 videos I had only two.... ,,fights" and the first one was not a legit one, because clearly the girl had some problems with our planet, the solar system and etc.
Anyway....about the quality it is not so good like the quality from The Sony FX30 ,but it's more than enough for a 4K UA-cam video and a big 55 inches tv. and actually the P3 quality by itself is stunning 👍👍👍

And has no problem handling cold weather, and I agree with you when it comes to real image and look. It looks more expensive than it is. I see some people complaining about the stabilization, especially the up and down movement. Is it called the z akses?. Like you say it's easy to hide and it's not up in your face size. Hi, that's a good question. Well the ace pro is a little bigger than action 4, more like GoPro. I would say yes, it can fit.

I have the Ace Pro, arrived a couple of days ago and I have a very securely attached memory card slot door; the flip screen can be manually open, it’s almost impossible to open it accidentally. On a crash of course it may brake the lock mechanism, but very unlikely…
That's good, mine is not bad but not as firm as my action 4. But some people say they have issues with it. For extreme action I would use another action camera. Thanks for watching and enjoy your ace pro.
I have the Ace Pro, Pocket 3, and the Hero12. The Ace Pro is not nearly as good as the Pocket 3 at night. If I am holding the Ace Pro very still, the video is quite good. But even using Pro Video, the Ace Pro causes the light sources to shake in the distance when I am walking with the Ace Pro attached to the GoPro Volta. I wasn't even walking very fast. I'm sure it will do well with a gimbal, but if that's the case, it defeats the purpose of buying it over the Pocket 3 which has amazing low light video by the way

The good news is that the Insta360 Ace Pro lens is replaceable. Just twist the lens 1/4 turn to the left and it comes off like the GoPro cameras.

I just got back from Oslo and found your channel. Also, my wife bought me the POCKET 3 for Christmas and I am debating whether or not to swap it out for the Ace Pro or a more traditional camera. Hi 😀, well it's not an easy choice. It all depends on what you're gonna use the camera for. Pocket 3 is a excellent vlogging camera with awesome video quality and you get 10 bit. @EspenJohan I currently have a number of action cameras (Hero 7 Black, Insta360 One R and One RS, plus other chinese knock-offs) that still serve me well after many years, so I wanted something a little different. However, I am not sure if that is the Pocket 3. The long-term durability of the camera worries me. The gimbal is very exposed. Plus, the built-in battery is a downside for me.
@@JamesRichardson3rd I see what you mean, but I would still recom Dji Action 4 over ace pro. Just a better camera. And if you have Dji mic 2 you can use it wireless, just like in the pocket 3.

I have more than a few more videos from Norway, but they are set to private. It is one of the ways my wife and I are able to stay connected to friends in Norway. I hope to buy a vacation apartment there in a few years so we can split our time between NYC and Oslo.
To answer your initial question, one reason I was rethinking getting something else other than the Pocket 3 is the possibility of needing a camera I can use in more extreme climates. We were in Oslo in early December, right after that cold and snowy weather you had. I am glad that I had my Insta360 Go 3 with me instead of the Pocket 3. I worry that it might not have held up in that cold Norwegian climate. Lol

Great video but the action 4 has better image quality in other videos. Camera conspiracies says the insta front focus is not good or skin tones, and also prefers the Action 4.
I hope Insta can make an improvement on the next one because the Camera does have a lot of great things going for it.

I can tell you this my GoPro has issues but the insta 360 app …SUCKS!!!!! I sent my camera back. Tried and tried to figure out the app ..nope.

the big issue of pocket 3 is blur the background. as you stand and talking, the view behind you is very bad because it blur out. pointless to record outdoor without seeing the view while you were talking.

Some people like the depth of field. An adjustable aperature would be nice, I think that would give more options for adjusting things. I went ahead and get the OP3, because even though I film mostly outdoors, I rarely, if ever, have a central subject active close to the camera.
I'm more curious how the gimbal movement is. Is it every smooth when moving from a standstill or does it seem like it makes quick movements?
Either way, I should know in a couple days. . . it was back-ordered when I bought it. They said Feb 1st! . . then Jan. 19. Then I got a message they shipped it today. So anyone who is waiting on a back-order, they are shipping them out much sooner.

I would love to have both, the Pocket 3 is gorgeous and the Ace doesn't fall far behind but both are different class due to waterproofing and ruggedness. The both make a great pair tbh, drone a nice DJI drone in there and you have some insane photography/videography gear. That's what I'm building now, when the weather is better, I want to take my Ace and DJI Mini 3 Pro out for a shoot! Great video, keep it up and hope you will get sponsored.

The colors are so much better on the Ace Pro. On the Pocket 3, you were washed out. On the Ace Pro, it showed good colors on both you and the background. The Ace Pro's active HDR is really good!

You do know you can colour grade videos on the Pocket 3
