He dominated the whole season and the play offs until Avs games where they could subdue him and his buddies.
They Kane,Draisaitl and Hyman do occasionally but Avalanche has done great job at keeping them down.

Colorado Avalanche Lineup is playing a 200ft Game, blocking shots, and sacrificing to make smart plays while Oilers Superstars are sandbagging in the D Zone and not winning puck battles or sustaining pressure. This series is over. Game 4 will be a blowout.

Winning 4 in a row is a tall order. Doing against a team that has out chanced you for 2 straight games..... Oilers will play for pride and not want to get swept. I think they win game 4. But i truly think this is all over in Colorado in game 5.

Funny,& he was awful in Denver...but ya can't blame that 1 on him...just bad luck. But they can't scratch him-thats the point of what some of us said before the series...the bluelines are the 1 major mismatch-even without Girard.
Nurse is clearly injured,but even when healthy,isn't a #1 dman. More like an ok #2,or good #3. Edmonton has the 2 best players on earth,but Colorado has the 2 best dmen in the series,& nobody else is even remotely close. Byram might be #3, especially with Nurse not 100%. Byram would certainly be Edmontons most TALENTED dman,though Bouchard does seem to have a bright future,but not the ceiling of Byram.
Steve watches the Oilers prolapse on the ice and still says “The Avs have to play hard to beat them”… I thought fans of other Canadian teams didn’t want to see the others win?
we do need to play hard. lazy changes and clears are responsible for a lot of the Oilers' goals this series. see: McDavid's in this game
My understanding is most Canadians even with a Canadian favourite team would still prefer seeing a Canadian team win the cup if it's not theirs.. as long as it's not a rival team

I've seen every Av's game this year. When fans of other teams play a team as dominant as the AV's a part of you hates them. They built this team while the owner treated them like red headed step children. Joe Sackic was a dominate player and now as GM. Oilers are done. The Lightning were harder to beat than the Rangers. If the Rangers pull the Eastern Conference out, the AV's will own them. Lightning would make them work harder, but the AV's will hoist Sir Stanley's Cup.

Mike Smith played a good game even though he has been inconsistent. First two goals, not much he can do about it thats hockey, but that last one he has to stop no matter what, thats how you win games for your team and the stanley cup. I dont think Edmenton recovers from this.

There was plenty he could do on the first goal, like staying tight against his post. Had he done so, instead of jumping, the puck just hits him and stays pinned against him and the post.

@@paulwatson that’s actually a little understandable… if my Leafs are playing the Anaheim Ducks and Zegras pulls off an amazing goal then I’ll cheer/be surprised before I think “That’s a great hockey play” but if my Leafs score… then I’ll cheer as hard as I can. (Same goes for any Canadian team in the playoffs, during the playoffs, because it’s been awhile since it came to Canada)

The Avs are the real deal....fastest blueline in nhl history with makar and byram....fastest transition game, fastest team probably in history, the Avs losing so many players to injuries (Girard, Kadri, Kuemper, Burakovsky etc) yet still chugging along.....such a curse of injuries the last 3-4 years this team even though they have been the best team almost every year.
Makar is so effortlessly fast. I remember watching him during his RBC Cup game. He made every other kid out there look like they were standing still. Just greased lightning!

Game 1 was reasonably even.
Game 2 was a Smith melt down combined with oilers getting out chanced. and game 3 repeated game 2 in the respect of the Avs getting the better chances. Just watch the play. look at the shots. the scoring chances. all the advantages are favoring the Avs. It's not just numbers on net. It's quality. So few Oilers shots are of any real quality. and yet many of the Avs shots are.

D is playing on one leg, Smith was shaky at times before he was clearly playing hurt and Reves is not available for an elimination game and possibly several more.
Being down Naz is something the Aves can’t just shrug off. Then you got McD the one man army. I guess it’s not hopeless when you look at it this way, but man I’m not seeing it.
I hope I’m wrong. It’s always sad to see a team who had an honest shot at the sterling silver lose it due to key injuries.

I understand why they pull the goalie. So they can have an extra defense/offense player.
But wouldn't it make more sense for the team that's ahead to take the risk of an empty net goal?
Unless the team that's ahead is shorthanded, they run the risk of icing the puck if they miss the net. And icing a puck means a D-zone face-off and players can't get off the ice. That's why players will try to lift the puck out with a high flip, instead of shooting it. And they try to make it to red line before going for the empty net so that they won't run the risk of icing.

Because he's an Oiler. My hypothesis, is that whatever team McDavid's on, all the media is going to simp for that team, and say nothing bad about it. That's probably a requirement to get into hockey media, have a hard on for McDavid

Both Mackinnon and Makar are better than McDavid. Rantanen, Kadri, Landeskog, and Toews are all better than Draisaitl. MacDermid is a better goon than Kane. There's more to hockey than JUST scoring points, although looking at the point production this series the statements remain true
