An honor I never thought we’d receive.
Let me just say it: my Carolina Hurricanes lost the first two games against the Washington Capitals in round 1 back in 2019. Yes the Caps had home ice advantage that year but everyone thought we were dead in the water, but we fought back to win the series in 7 games, winning game 7 in double overtime. Point is: yes it's not looking good for the Leafs right now. But they still have time to turn this around.

Caps had nothing to prove, they got fat and happy. Panthers won't get fat and happy, they didn't just win a cup the year previous like the caps did in that case

Bob has been the difference maker. The series is far from over considering we lost games 3-4 vs Boston but we like our position obviously
I read somewhere, and totally agree with that : "Florida is not a bad team that made the playoffs, it's (still) a great team that almost missed the playoffs". Sure, they lost Hubby and Weegar but they still have a very good team that won the President trophy last year. Boston thought they had them after leading 3-1 and completely underestimated their fighting spirit, so no other team should do the same. The Panthers are legit!
I'm a Habs fan whom would gain something from Florida's lost.

Panthers goalie is giving his team confidence, every good save emboldens the team to keep digging, that's what their doing, it's not rocket science, their burying their chances, and bounces go your way when you do that, their on a roll, probably the best timing in hockey history, the balloon will pop, probably, but they look solid. Who knows how far they'll go, if they keep this up they'll be holding the cup above their heads.

Let me put the Leafs' season in a nutshell (as I see it). It's late in period #2 (actually about 6.5 seconds left) Leafs are trailing 3-2 and the puck is thrown in to the Leafs end mid way along the boards to Samsonov's left. Tavares is the first to reach the puck and can easily just backhand the puck out of the zone to end the period. Instead, he inexplicably tries to shield the puck and as he is prone to do, instantly loses possession and it's passed to Tkatchuk with 2 seconds left who skates in front of the net and attempts to take a shot only to be tripped by Matthews at the 19:59 mark (2:00 penalty to start the 3rd period)! A careless, mind-numbingly bad play by Tavares resulted in the Leafs having to defend a scoring chance that they never should have needed to defend! So, that left 18:00 of the 3rd period to tie the game instead of 20:00. These constant gaffs, turnovers, unforced errors, and just plain bad plays are why the Leafs are not a championship calibre team! A well-coached team does NOT make these same mistakes over and over again, and that's on Keefe!

Plenty of good offensive chances against a tough opponent in bobrovsky, but the defense is letting the offense down big time. Maybe the offense could be a bit better but really it’s gotta be on the defense to be better, lock down and protect the leads that the offense gives them

There is a rumour that Sheldon Keefe and brother Adam Keefe are planning a friendly game between the Leafs and Adams team, my team the Belfast Giant’s over here in the UK/non UK. The Giants have actually played an nhl team before back in 2010 against the Bruins the Bruins won (surprisingly)I think the final score was like 7-3 Bruins or something close.

The injury to Knies was an impact in a negative way, after that they showef little pushback.
With 9 minute left in the game a sense of urgency happened, Unfortunately they didnt seem to concern after they lost the lead.

Why when Gudas gets "slammed" to the ground there's no mention of no call? It's unfortunate that Knies got hurt, but there was no call on Lafferty for essentially the same play that you called a slam. I just wish you didn't come across this biased in these. Not a Panther fan.

Panthers have been completely clogging centre ice. The leafs attackers can’t even skate into their zone.
This has been forcing players like Nylander to try and get past 3 defenders at once. It’s forcing the leafs to play solo on attack, while giving the Panthers the numbers advantage, on defence.
It would be the most leafs thing ever to finally win a playoff series and get all of the fans who had checked out over the years to come back and get emotionally invested in the team again only to immediately get swept in the second round

See I called it after the first two goals Steve, Toronto put it all out in the first. And the Panthers had more energy for the rest of the game, Toronto could set up good plays but they couldn’t execute the money shot, that Bobrovsky was tough to get though. They played hard but when they got tired they let the goals slip back through, they tried to win the game in the first. Instead of playing the long game.

Forget the way they outplayed you in just about every aspect of the game, IT'S THE REFS! Whining is such a staple of Leaf Fandom that most of them don't even know they are doing it anymore. Leafs fans have become Red Sox fans pre-2004. You could have gotten your 2 minutes on the Knies play and still would have lost. Even 4. Hell, even 5. Even if the Leafs played a man up it would have *maybe* made the last 2 periods look even.

Unpopular opinion. I think trading Anderson was a mistake, and keeping these big contract players was not and is not worth it. But the thing is they need to work with what they have but they won’t, they will keep trading players and mixing up the team and thereby they will never find cohesion, never be a team, just high paying contract players working alone and carrying the team, dumb strategy because other teams know this and all they have to do is shut theses players down, which Florida did perfectly, bullying the hell out of them, constant denial, great defence and getting their head. Samsanov has carried but he is not good at this level imo.
