Just picked one up brand new for 119 bucks. Thanks for the tutorial.
Wow ! How did u get it’s cheap ?
@@okiefoodieking floor model at dicks.
Thank you. I just bought one. Your startup process with the video helped me out a lot. Putting aluminum foil over that grease pan was smart makes clean up easy. Thank you so much.
Good deal! Thank you for watching! Yeah you will be glad you put that foil down over the grease pan bc it keeps it clean to make it last longer and it makes for easy cleanup. I put the stronger foil on mine and change it ever so often
Just got an 18 model in the box XT version new to this. Looking forward to this ! Great video
Congrats! U are going to love it!!!
I just picked up a used one yesterday for $170.00. It looks almost new and in great shape. I did a test run on it yesterday and it worked flawlessly. Doing some pork ribs on it today. I subscribed and liked.
Wow how and where did u find they for $170??? Congrats to u! Thank u for subscribing and liking. So awesome!
@@okiefoodieking Found it on market place.
Your southern accent automatically builds trust in smoking. Really enjoyed your video and your enthusiasm. You made me even MORE excited to get my DLX24 going! . Mine didn't come with instructions. Following your lead. Cheers and Thank Ya from Colorado!!!
Capt. Scott Graney Thank you Captain! This thing will not disappoint! It is amazing and use it weekly since I got it in September if 2019. Everyone loves the meat this thing cranks out. I just set it and forget it. I buy my pellets at Sams. They have the cheapest for the money and it’s a great flavor ! I hope my video really helped explaining what to do for breaking in your smoker. Enjoy ! You are gonna love it! Great investment
@@okiefoodieking Keep up the great work and keep us informed please. Well done sir!
Oh....firing up the Camp Chef right now. :-D IN LOVE!
Capt. Scotty Awesome you got one! Can’t wait to see what you produce on that thing. What are you smoking my friend?
Just purchased this exact one.
Can't wait to start Smoking Meat.
Thanks for the walk through.
Heck yeah! U will feel like it’s Christmas 🎄 the night before you use it every time. Even a year later like me. I got some videos u should watch on my UA-cam how to smoke some meats with CampChef smoker ! Would appreciate if u could subscribe
@@okiefoodieking became a subscriber today. I will be checking them out👍🏽
@@chevasechols6327 thank you my friend! Welcome to the club. I will be putting out more videos also
@@chevasechols6327 my dude ! Awesome 😎. Let me know how it turns out
THE RE IS A ANGLE ON THE LEFT SIDE THAT THE DRIP PAN SETS ON AND SETS AT A ANGLE SO IT WILL DRAIN OVER TO THE RIGHT SIDE AND IN YOUR DRIP BUCKET
Very helpful. Thank you!
stewdogg42 Thanks for letting me know! Appreciate it. Have fun with your new smoker!
I'm here to say bravo on the maltese poop joke. It made me laugh out loud when I was just learning how to start up my camp chef.
Hahaha that’s awesome I forgot all about that ! Glad I could make your day
Excellent how to video.
I really appreciate that ! Glad to help
One more hint, from 20 years of pellet stove usage (Treager) I've found it beneficial to double cover the drip shield with tin foil, and once the tin foil is on and you have reinstalled it in the stove smooth the foil out by holding it in place on the top and running your hand down it toward the drain so the grease drains easily
Yessir! That’s exactly what I did after the first few smokes 👊😎
Like avoid the crinkly deal there. It’s so shiny n crinkly, got some wrinkly bits there… sooo shiny… what was I saying?
I have this grill got it for free I was having issues with it starting and going to like 500 degrees. Then I would get the error message and it would shut off. I replaced the thermostat and the rtd and I'm still having the same issues any idea what it could be?
Seen a guy throwing a DLX 2 out at the dump... asked him why and he said the auger was seized... Took it home and looked in the hopper. The pellets must have gotten wet because they formed around the auger. 3-4 minutes chipping away with a screw driver and it works.
Gunna clean it up and try out a rack-o-ribs.
Dude 🎉 You win!!! My brother had a neighbor throwing a masterbuilt smoker to the curb and it was the filthiest grimiest thing. I cleaned it up and it works great !
Congratulations!!!
My buddy just gave me a slightly used one. Looking forward to setting and forgetting it :)
Dude you are absolutely going to love it
@@okiefoodieking all it needs are the temp probes. Can’t wait to use it!
You really don't want to cover the drip tray during the break in procedure. There is oil on the tray that needs to burn off. Cover it afterwards when you are ready to cook.
It’s done just fine for me and it still gets the burn off
Just what I was thinking.
Yep, cuz that heat can’t get through the foil. Aluminum is like carbon, or… silicon, or other insulating THINGS. Do you breath through your mouth? Fish do that.
Do you know what it’s wattage?
Did the grill heat evenly when you covered the drip tray with tin foil?. It has perforations which a assumed was to allow heat through?
jdenton1010 yes mine does
Just bought mine and that buzzing noise pissed me off. Contacted coustmer service... the said take bottom panel off under hopper. Motor fan was hitting the metal shield. Push it away towards the right. Fixed issue, super quiet now
That is great news! I got a new one and it doesn’t do that anymore. But that is good to know. So happy for u. No more buzzing !
how long after you select shutdown can you safely bring it into the garage?
John Miller I usually wait about 10 minutes to let it cool off bc I store it right up against the wood in the garage and that thing gets so hot when in use.
I'm new to this and shopping for a new grill. How does this work if you're just wanting to grill some burgers one afternoon versus the conventional grill with propane and burners ? Time ? Even cooking ? Thanks.
Hey welcome to camp chef Smoker! U will love it! With propane I usually get my grill to 450- 500 degrees and get a good seat on them. If u are smoking the Pattie’s in your camp chef I would turn it to 225 degrees and smoke them for about 25-30 minutes for a Smokey flavor vs chargrilled flavor. Try it out and let me know what u think. Don’t forget to do your first burn in
So why did you have some wood pellets in the ash cup then close it?
Jay Esparza I was a first timer and just wanted to see how it worked
I just bought the bigger one of this version and I gotta say that sumbich caught on fire under burning off all that oil. It says to do a 350 degree 30 minutes but about 5 minutes in it was like a big flame. Idk if it's suppose to or what.
Whoa.. I don’t know if that is normal on 1st time burn off You may want to check where you bought it and talk to them about it
Same thing happened to me today with my brand new one straight from the camp chef website
Sorry y'all, sort of a noob here. But how full should my firepit be when its activated to "feed" mode. I can't seem to figure out why my igniter wont light when its full. But will work when the pit is only 1/4 full. Please help! 😅
I usually have mine full. Not sure why it’s not working
Seemed like it took a long time to get the fire in the pot. Seems pretty loud or is that just your cell so close to the grill?
It was loud. Turned out this first smoker was messed up and I got a new one. But everything I do in this video is correct for the first start up
@Lane Salvatore yup, have been using Flixzone for since december myself :)
From cold. How long does it take to get to 500f?
Now that I do not know the exact answer in the cold. I don’t think the cold effects it too much from my experience though
I've read your supposed to leave the lid open when starting a pellet grill. Dangerous to leave it closed during start up.
Hmmm… I usually do. I wonder why it is dangerous?
Did you treat it with any oils?
I rubbed some olive oils on the grates
Remember people, when you first start up a pellet grill, it might start shitting pellets. That’s normal. It is not normal if you start shitting pellets too. Unless you’ve been eating a lot of rice and cheese.
😂
Wish it had wheels in the other side too.
varispujols man wouldn’t that be nice and would help my back out a ton moving it out of the garage to smoke some meat. Every time I use this thing it never disappoints though. Food is amazing
Add some wheels🤷🏻♂️
Hows the noise on this when it's running? My GMG DC makes a super loud grinding sound and i want something quieter so I don't irritate the neighbors haha ua-cam.com/video/NCZUrpsQQr4/v-deo.html
Wow that is super loud! This is very quiet my friend! Way quieter than that one. You will love this smoker. Two months after I bought this it went out on me. But when it got delivered it came in damaged to the electrical box and Lowe’s took off another 20%. So I took it as is. But thankfully they ordered a new one free of charge and it was not delivered damaged and thankfully it has been nothing but perfect for me the last 7 months. It makes the best ribs you ever had
What's that loud noise throughout your video? I hope it isnt the grill lol
Red Hot Chili Peppers man lol. Well this is my first Camp Chef Smoker the electrical box was delivered damaged and slowed gave me 20% off so I took it. Long story short this one petered out and stopped working. So thankfully Lowe’s sent me a new one free of no charge. I have had my 2nd one for 7 months and it is so quiet and perfect 👌
Wasn't expecting the Maltese comment.
😜🤣🤣🤣
Yeah, me too! I spit my Yoo-Hoo all over the instruction manual!
you arent supposed to have your trap door open when its on lmao!
when in feed mode initially the door is open so you can hear the pellets fall in the cup, thats the signal to close it and turn to smoke or heat mode
Bad idea on foil, unless you remove it after every cook. Trapping moisture and unavoidable food debris between foil and metal rack, is worse that not having foil.
Chris Moore I have been using foil for over a year and it has been great 👍 meat always comes out amazing.
