27:01 Among all QB's, Purdy is in the 90th percentile for 10-yard-split time…Brock Purdy: 1.55
    Christian McCaffrey: 1.55
    Lamar Jackson: 1.54
    Josh Allen: 1.60
    Patrick Mahomes: 1.65
    Saquon Barkley: 1.54
    DeSean Jackson: 1.53
It shows up every time he has to navigate a messy pocket.
Purdy is 84th percentile for 20-yard-split. And 59th percentile for 40-yard-dash. He has elite short area burst, but an average top speed. For a QB I'd much prefer that than if it was the opposite.

I just love watching this guy because it really makes you wonder how many other Brock Purdys have existed throughout the history of the NFL that just never got their shot. If he had gone to any other team we could very well have no idea what he was capable of.

@@riteousrighthand6144 I think he does, but it wouldn't have been last year. He'd have shown enough for them to finally let go of Jimmy G and then Trey was gonna implode again (either bad play or injury) and Brock would have gotten in.

What's even more crazier is that purdy and his family all was dolphins fans and his favorite qb was Dan Marino. Which is why he chose number 13. And his first game playing is against the dolphins . Jimmy goes down and purdy steps In. It's like it was ment. I'm not saying we will win a sb this year but we definitely will most likely next year. Even though we have great shot this year to do it barring Nothing crazy happening to stop us. Because purdy is only going to get better.

I remember watching him in last year's preseason when he was a rookie and I was saying to my friends and family that I thought they should start him over Jimmy and Trey. Everyone kind of laughed, but the talent and poise was there from the jump at the NFL level even though it was preseason. I was so glad when they gave him an active roster spot because I was worried that if they put him on the practice squad, another team would have swooped in and picked him up. Purdy is a special QB talent. He doesn't have the insane bazooka arm or the 6-6 size but he seems to just do everything well. He plays within the system very well and also add his own flavour when needed.
Those 2 scrambles on 3rd & 7 (results in Aiyuk catch) and 3rd & 12( 18 yrd rushing for BP) sum up why it's so hard to stop this offense. Even the few times, you play good coverage, the QB is extending the play and converting a key down. It must be frustrating to chase shadows coz Shanahan is scheming guys open and when there's no ne open..the QB is still creating something to keep drives going.
Also TJ Watt is a special player. He seems to be the pass pro on the right side on seemingly every down.

The thing that Brock has brought to this offense, is a drastic reduction in negative plays, from the QB position, and I'm not talking just limiting turnovers. He does a much better job, than Garoppolo(even) ever did, as far as evading pressure.

    • @brianschwartz7937
      @brianschwartz7937 10 місяців тому +6

Even setting aside the ability to evade pressure......
+The accuracy to hit receivers (like Aiyuk TD) in a tight window WHILE they are covered, and not only when wide open due to a play action scheme
+The accuracy to not miss or underthrow receivers (how many times did Jimmy G throw that Kittle 4th down pass at his feet or overhead?)
+The patience to step up in the pocket and keep eyes open downfield rather not just take off instantly to one side (Jimmy G, surrendering half the field of options) or try to run for it (Trey Lance getting happy feet and trying to outrun defenders, either taking a hit or maybe getting a "nice" 10 yard run instead of finding a 20-yard completion)
+The pocket presence and timing to get the ball out quick and on the mark, rather than hesitating, waiting with eyes glued downfield hoping the receiver will get more open, and then taking a sack
+And the clock awareness to just get the team to the line and have everybody ready to go. How many dozens of times did Jimmy, Trey, and others struggle to get a play off? How many dozens of Delay of Game penalties, burned timeouts, hurried snaps? How many hundreds of yards has that alone saved?! You don't see that nearly as often with Purdy. Once in awhile, maybe? Some of them seem by design--wanting a look at coverage, not liking something, etc. It happens to the best from time to time. But so far removed from recent history constantly watching the offense break the huddle with only 8 seconds left, a receiver going into motion at 2 secs, etc.

Completely oblivious to the fact that a good portion of every QB's success is due to being in the system, the fact that great organizations draft personnel that fit and excel in their system, and those players understand the system and adapt their strengths to that system. Purdy's a real gem and deserves a lot more credit than he gets out of the fools in the media.
