I opted for the Mac Studio Max vs the Ultra and upgraded it to 2TB ram and a slight upgrade to the main "motherboard"? Right now I am mostly doing pretty basic video editing in Final Cut but am curious as to what new avenues the Studio might open up to me creatively? One thing I am thinking hard about is exploring 3D motion tracking with a tool like mtracker 3D
How has your mac M1 Max been?
@@UpHillCinema It's been worth the investment, so glad I didn't go for the Ultra, would have been money wasted. I was at a dead end with my late 2013 iMac but now I feel like I have a new computing platform that can get me through 5 plus years
Do you think that the upgraded M1 Max version of this is still very good for video production? I'm hooting primarily Sony FX6/A7SIII (4k60 / 10 bit) -- Thought the M1 Ultra would just end up being very overkill.. but now I am nervous I messed up lol
No I think the M1 Max will be amazing.
The big difference in my eyes is how quickly you will want to upgrade again.
The ultra will most likely have a much longer shelf life. And the thunderbolt 4 ports in the front make it insane.
But I wouldn’t feel nervous if you got the Max. You should be stoked!!
@@UpHillCinema thanks for that! Can you elaborate on “how quickly you’ll want to upgrade again?” Since that’s my biggest concern is feeling like I overpaid for something that will be obsolete in the near future
@@TEN27 I purchased the same and don't see myself upgrading for at least 5-7 years - the big leap is to get on the Apple Silicon path vs Intel and once that's achieved then free operating system upgrades will be adding more and capabilities as time passes to your machine. I am thinking, hoping really, that the Max will retain its value for long enough that if you do ever want to upgrade you should still have some good trade-in / resell value left in your new computer
