Working as a new nurse in 1976 , and I remember this song ! Another great song from JT . We hate it to end - just keep singing “ How sweet it is “. ! James - you’re the best , and one of a kind ! Paula Montana
Boston 1988, incredible concert, everyone is happy, J.T. is unique. This BAND is amazing, I think the best J.T. band ever: Don Grolnick (piano) & Carlos Vega (drums), both deceased; Leland Sklar with his "Frankenstein" bass, guitarists Bob Mann (what a solo!) and Dan Dougmore and singers Rosemary Butler & Arnold McCuller. What a shame that I never had the chance to watch this band live. Greetings from Portugal.
I'd say the following line ups got even better with Jimmy Johnson on bass, Mike Landau on gtr, Valerie Carter, Kate Markowitz, AM ja David Lasley on backing vocals. Not to mention the All Star Band with Lou Marini, Steve Gadd, Andrea Zonn and Larry Goldings. Absolutely faboulous.
BY THE POWER AND AUTHORITY GIVEN TO ME BY OUR LORD JESUS CHRIST, EVERYONE THAT WENT TO THIS CONCERT OR GOT ON LINE IS COMPLETELY HEALED. AMEN THE CHILD OF GOD.
@zbestwun2001 James lost some people very close to him in the 90's. First, his brother Alex in 1993, who died on his birthday of all days (March 12), Don Grolnick, who was his best friend and his music arranger for many years and of course Carlos Vega, the drummer here, which nobody saw coming.
His father too. His father died 1996. He lost a total of four people closest to him. His brother, best friend/musical director for the band, father and the drummer for his band.
This is classic James Taylor at the height of his powers. I’ve been to about 5 of his concerts. One actually kind of sucked. It has to be hard to be 100% every time. But when he is at 100% - wow...
This was shortly after James released "Never Die Young". Sometimes I wonder what if Danny Kortchmar and Russell Kunkel were still playing with James by this time. Maybe Waddy Wachtel, too?
Thanks. I was wondering about the date - NDY sounds right - late 80s. Around 1991, Arnold, David, Valerie and Kate came out of the shadows and became an integral part of the tours. Halcyon 🎼 days!
If I remember, I think this is when his album Never Die Young came out. I had this concert on VHS as well but my cassette was damaged. I would love any information on how I can have this concert again.
Hi All, It was 1988, and this performance is his best ever! Each and every musician on stage with him is superlative! Some have passed sorry to say. DC from NYC
Nobody ever grooved like Carlos Vega.......nobody!!!
Absolutely! Sooooo good!
Lee Sklar!!!! thebassman!!

It's incredible how Carlos holds the groove where he wants it while 10,000 people clap just a bit ahead. Masterful
Yes he is sorely missed
What happened that we don't know?
James Taylor audience has a character of its own.

Talented, flexible, on the dot, Carlos Vega was a tremendous drummer!!!
Carlos wrote the book on how to play drums with James Taylor
Yes! James Taylor Live from 1993 is a testament to this
Carlos Vega supreme master of the shuffle!
bourgkul Carlos Vega, Jeff Porcaro and Mike Porcaro in my heart !!!
Master of any style, in any tempo. Long time no groove, Carlos. We miss you...
Depression sucks Marc.
Jeff Porcaro and Carlos Vega, the greatest drummers

Legendary Drummer!!!
RIP Carlos
Amazing Grace
With Rosemary and Arnold singing back up vocals. Outstanding !
Absolutley beautiful
Don Grolnick on keys is no slouch; he played with a ton of people and did a lot of session work too.
One of the absolute legends of the great New York studio scene of the 70s/80s.
3:08 Listen to those hi-hats!
It doesn't get any better. Pure.
Don Grolnick amazing🔥
1 helluva band.
James: one life together!
What a Band!!!
Bad ass James tear the house down
Beautiful, classy voice n music to the soul
Nothing like fantastic music for the soul!
It's a sea of big hair, turtlenecks and sweaters. Snap, I miss the 80s. Hahaha :)
Goated w/ the sauce
Best live version
It's funny the way James goes "YEAH!"
The Dynamics and Articulations has not changed. Amazing
JAMES ..... grandeeeeeeee ......... (saluti dall'Italia)
Wow James towed it down that night
Amen

@@martingardner9124 James is now the age his father was when he died-72.
Killer line up of supporting musicians...CARLOS!!!...Looks like Brian Mann on guitar as well....Brilliant!
That's Bob Mann.

Good James Taylor song
That's what I'm talking about!

@@missinglowell Arnold McCuller and David Lasley had been working with James for about 10 years around this time. Although David wasn't singing here.
And also the one and only Rosemary Butler
This was a concert on PBS I used to have on VHS, anyone have the whole thing on DVD?
Wow, that man on the right seen from 3:12 to 3:18 looks like JT when he was younger. Incredible.
WEARING MY SUSPENDERS AGAIN....I'M GONNA GET EMO BACK! 💖💥
james .. can you come sing at my house ..? love you
ARNOLD MCCULLER SINGS, TOO!
For years, I've found it odd that the bass and snare drums cut out midway through the song and the band just keeps on playing like nothing's wrong.
@crocotone And Don Grolnick, who plays piano here, is also dead. He died in 1996.
RIP
@samsticka Grolnick died on June 1, 1996 from non-Hodgkin Lymphoma.
beautiful. Where and When?
@timbojones23 It could be just the audience clapping along. I'll tell you though from 4:07 on, I can barely hear the snare drum.
On guitar?
Where can I find the whole concert? In fact what's the name?
If I remember, I think this is when his album Never Die Young came out. I had this concert on VHS as well but my cassette was damaged. I would love any information on how I can have this concert again.
James seems to remind me of a rockin Abe Lincoln
I fell that
@timbojones23 What are you talking about? Where do you hear that?
when was this?
Hi All,
It was 1988, and this performance is his best ever! Each and every musician on stage with him is superlative! Some have passed sorry to say.
DC from NYC
Don Grolnick (piano) and Carlos Vega (drums) have passed. Everyone else here is still alive.
The great Lee Sklar on bass!
eletronic snare programing no stop kkkkkk
Yeah, that's probably people clapping... I hate it and always will. The tune's great dough :-)
rozpierdol
The hi-hat is annoyingly behind the beat.
😂😂😂😂😂 the people are clapping to fast
@crocotone He WAS. He's dead now. Killed himself in 1998.
No...said he died of Hodgkins Lymphoma
@@nancypetry6820 That's what Don Grolnick died of in 1996. Carlos Vega killed himself in 1998.
Dodgy tambourine playing...
