Great build! Your heat problem if from running low voltage and high amperage though. I checked your site and it looks like you are running 36v on a brushed DC motor. A 72v or 96v system on a brushless DC would not only make it run significantly cooler at the same wattage, but, would allow you run a much taller rear gear making tons of free torque thus lowering your power requirements.
These are trolls mostly I would think especially gas loving trolls. Have you ever been stuck at a light behind a "classic" car like a 70s model Chevelle and forgot to turn your air recirculate lever on? These people grew up with that smell in the 60s-2000s and it reminds them of their younger more masculine days. They get less and less of these fumes and their bodies can't handle it due to "exhaust fumes" withdrawal.
TradeAlong 99 I'm a lover of all vehicles, customs, hotrod anything with a big v8, fast bikes and all that, equally for some things I can see the point to things like your project which removes local pollution is going to be cheaper to run and removes the need for Dino juice for the daily meaning the planets supply lasts longer to enjoy the v8 weekend fun.
At some point it's going to be a privilege to own and drive a V8 so hopefully they will tax it higher. These days they charge under $20 for a vehicle inspection after it's so old...even though it spews blue smoke everywhere! What kind of idiots make these laws~
Hey I like riding my horse in the city and letting it shit on people's car hoods at the traffic lights. Nothing like the smell of good ole horse shit in the hot summer afternoons.
TradeAlong 99 I guess this is just an American problem? Here in the UK If you have a pre 2000 big engine annual vehicle tax is about 300 dollars post 2000 its done on emissions which has changed over the last 18 years, so now a 2018 v8, road taxation works out about 1500 dollars a year! Plus fuel here is something like 2 dollars a litre, so you can see why an electric something would be advantageous!
I have several motorcycles, and a CanAm Spyder, and I love all of them. If you launch in the US, I would like to buy a Street Quad from you. Don't have any electric vehicles, and this looks great!
2:55 Beautiful..that torque must be gut wrenching! You did one heck of a build man, I can tell you dumped some $$ into her. SALUTE! What’s the final cost, and If you had it to do over again would you just go gas?
Yep, the instant torque feels really amazing when riding it. It's no Tesla performance but definately feels much quicker than with the original 250cc engine that was in there. As this was my first ever conversion I indeed did spend a little bit more than I really wanted to, just to make it look as good as it possibly could. If I made another one, it would be made a lot cheaper for sure. ;) Cost was for the quad bike itself and the complete conversion with all the needed parts was over 10k euro to give you an idea. Batteries, motor and controller cost a lot of money, especially if you want to have it road legal in the Netherlands. It could definately be done for below 10k though when produced in numbers, and even lower if it doesn't have to be road legal, or just in another country. It's really difficult to get conversions like these road legal in the Netherlands unfortunately. As for your questions about just going gas.. I will never go back to gas again. :) And my main reason isn't because it's better for the environment or anything like that, it's just that electric motors can push out so much more power and torque while being much more efficient. Much cheaper to keep running as well and no problems during or after the winter to get it started. ;)
Oh wow street legal? That’s crazy you can ride it on regular roads and not be pulled over. That’s sick I’d use it for everything, but in the US you’d need anti theft/gps tracking that beaut would get JACKED if left outside.
@@tjacksondolph4026 It's no different here sadly, quad bikes get stolen often. Having a GPS tracker is a good idea here as well. ;) Just have to make sure it's always parked inside somewhere or you have to stay very close to it at all times. :)
I love this atv, nice work man, can we have some spec? how big is the motor in kw? how many volts battery are using ,amp/h , what range can you get? I want to start a project like this with in wheel electric motor ,5kw on each wheel and install a 84volt 100amp/h LITHIUM battery. i want 60km/h max speed and 200km range(plus50km reserv). any chance i can reach that?
Thanks! The specs are below. 25,4 kW PMDC motor (3700 RPM, 65 Nm) Battery pack 76,8 V 60 Ah Geared for max speed of about 98 km/h Range is about 50 km max, unfortunately no more room for more or bigger batteries right now. I don't think 200 km is possible with the batterypack you want to use. Main reason why the range is rather low on quad bikes is because of the rather huge wind resistance. With a max speed of 60 it should be better though but I think you'll get around 100-120 km range with that battery pack and motors. It's pretty hard to fit a big battery pack in a quad bike and It's probably still going to take a while before we get batteries that are a lot smaller or can store more energy for the same dimensions. I'm kind of waiting for that myself since I'm not fully satisfied with the range I have right now.
Very nice - yes a nice aerodynamic wind breaker would help move the wind around the flat human upper body - and some thinner tires would help some as well Cheers
It's actually mostly the chain that you hear while riding it and a little bit the tires. It's definately more pronounced on the onboard video's though.
It's SO funny that we have all these genius develpers on UA-cam, but NO ONE will manufacture their ideas...not to mention they have to buy all their parts "overseas"...
Now who in their right mind would say no to that? It looks amazing!!! I love electric vehicles!!!!unfortunately I expect the gov. And powers that be will make us pay through the teeth for it. I anticipate battery tech... Will me sold in small advancements like they do with electronics....so aggravating that they must make things crazy expensive pretending like it's all cutting edge... When tesla had free energy for the whole planet... We need to stand together and do something about that!!!! Great vid btw!!! Keep it up guys!!! I so wish common men and women stood together against crazy big brother!! World could become what it was meant to!!!!
Electric motor doesn't need gears if that's what you mean, there's more than enough torque to just use one gear. Using a gearbox would actually slow you down then unless you use a CVT.
Bit late replying but in case you still want to know, the base is a Jinling JLA 21-B from China. While it still has the looks of it it doesn't really share much else. ;) Obviously the electric drivetrain you can't buy from them, I converted it myself. Also made some changes to the chassis itself, new better quality bearings, bushings and tyres. The chinese ones are not good at all. Also removed the complete electric harness and made my own. Rest of the chassis is pretty good though, frame not perfect but decent enough, good adjustable suspension and pretty cool looking lights. :)
+vambreace It's an LMC LEM-200 D127, 12.5 kW continuous and 25 kW max (for 30 sec or so with active cooling). It has plenty of power for a quad bike. Without a gearbox it probably has compareable performance to 250-300 cc petrol engine, except for the instant torque ofcourse. :)

It started as one yes, only the frame and fenders are still chinese now pretty much. ;) Rest of the quad bike is no longer chinese. Pretty much all components have been swapped out, even the bearings and bushings. And well, obiously the Loncin engine is gone. :) I guess I'll just go with cool. :P
