Finally someone that hasn't pulled the B16B and fitted a K20 or B20. The B16B is a mega engine, so much fun.

That’s one sweet EK9, the VTEC sound never gets old. Too bad Honda doesn’t make it as they used to. I think even in Japan the Type R EKs are super hard to find and they aren’t cheap at all. Nice interview as always Capt!

Honestly I have only seen 2 DC5 Type R's in Okinawa. One did have a full Mugen kit though!
Love the CTR, we’ve had a bunch of these local to me in Canada years ago. The price has skyrocketed now. I picked up a b16b over a dozen years ago, finally put it into a 98 hatchback. That’s the closest I’ll come to owning an ek9 CTR

Love the ek9. Shame we can't get them in aus. So made my own from a cxi 97 hatch with a jdm dc5 k20a. I love it so much
Awesome car, nice to see a clean near stock one. I've got a ek4 in the UK and the annual road tax is £265 🙃
The head lights in the states and Canada are also always chrome in the reflector shrouds, you can see in the video the headlights have this grayish silvery smoke on the reflector shrouds :) 7:00

The Iron Shepherd If we had a legit track or something but street racing is a pretty expensive ticket in Japan haha. Most of the cars I’ve featured would clap the Evo though 😂
I'm not sure about the Civic R but the Integra R had a seam welded uni-body. Engine swaps, wheels, badges, springs etc can be done to almost any car but seam welding the entire unibody would be some super major work. I think that what makes the R special. It is certainly imho the best part of the Integra Type R.

That’s Great ek9 getting rarer and more pricier by the day, if that’s the RX its a 2000 model, available in the states in 2025, the pre facelift model 2022, so not long for those, I’m sure the states will snap them up, great car, Mugen Twin Loop exhaust too. 😎👍🏻

The main reason why these cars are rare and hard-to-find is because importers buy them and cut down the car to bring to the states and sell the parts, wheels, front clip, interior and engines… Is such a shame

im hoping in the future i can have my own r34 or r33. im only 17 rn and aiming to own one of these before im 25. how much do you think the prices will change for those type of vehicles within the next 8 years or so. and how much does it really cost to import a car from japan to the us.

odd a 2zz celica seems to have a much more aggressive cam swap-over feel.

I thought the ek9s front bumper didn’t come with the vents for the fog light 🤷🏼♂️ I thought the front bumper was like the 96/97 ek solid big opening no vents? I’m pretty sure you said it was aftermarket? Is the front bumper oem?
Or the ek9s are from 97 to 00? If that’s the case are the 99s n 2000s the only ones come with the si front bumper with the fog vents?

I love these. My brother picked up an ek hatch a few days ago but it's got a bunch of broken trim pieces. Does anyone know where I'd be able to get these pieces online? We're in Cali. Cool video, thanks for showing us
Just gotta search and hope to be first at the Yards, they discontinued the trim pieces for the most part. What trim pieces do you need?

I needed the driver side kicker panel, the center console piece too, right above where cupholders are I'm not even sure what to call that area lol. Its underneath the cigarette lighter. There's a big hole there. And a couple other little bits but those were the ones we were mostly looking for
A wild Grizzly bear you might be better off on eBay, I just recently bought a EJ hatchback. And pretty much all EK EJ parts can swap (with the exception of door panels based on 2 door and 4 door. With respect to year model) parts can be pretty expensive but if you buy from one person who’s parting out at a yard, you can normally message them all the parts you need and they will cut you a deal and ship everything together.
Get the fixed cup holders, not the fold out ones, the fold out ones are cool, but you’ll never actually use them, and they can’t carry heavy and wide. They look cool though, the fixed cup holders are easy to clean and OEM lined with rubber. Also, you might get a high armrest if you don’t already have it, just remember to get the bracket that corresponds to the high armrest.
Super fun and easy to work on, trying to get my hands on a Factory Service Manual, the ones from dealer mechanic garage, lots of info in those also.

Honda is cooler in japan they currently sell the s660 and this cute n one they kept the dc5 integra type r which is based on the Acura rsx and it was even better they even had a fn2 civic type r which was way better than the Euro spec

Foglights were an option from dealer, so I'm not too concerned about that. The car has the wiring for it preinstalled.
