Iceman shouldn’t get a solo series I feel as though some individuals wouldn’t be interested in reading an Iceman exclusive comic especially since he doesn’t really have any solo villains so I feel as though his character development should be more featured in X Men comics than his own solo comic and he occasionally partners up with other heroes like SpiderMan and show his different love interests Lorna also known as Polaris and maybe tackle his change in sexuality of him being bisexual or maybe completely homosexual because if Marvel wants to diversify their characters that would be an interesting way
@@tehjboney4249 I don't think we need to change Iceman's sexuality just to satisfy identity politics and representation. There are characters that are gay already they can introduce like Wiccan and Hulkling in the New Avengers. If anything I can see them making Bobby Drake black.

They don't always follow the comics and my comment was in response to a previous comment. Don't think Disney is in a rush to explore their sexual preferences.

He had no special boosts and storms powers didn’t even work in hell, it did make him pretty tired after and I think he passed out

Probably mentioned in comments, but it should be noted Iceman actually did basically freeze the whole world once. He lowered the whole planet's temperature and manifested his consciousness basically in every flake of snow and ice at once. It was awesome.

How could you not consider Bobby's power level as Omega? he's basically the ice version of Magneto.
You forgot to mention a couple of scenarios that also changed Iceman's powers and perception of his abilities. Starting with Thor #377, when Loki augmented his powers to uncontrollable levels. That lead to Iceman wearing the power dampening belt back in his X-Factor days. Then there was Uncanny #291-293 where Mikhal Rasputin manipulated Bobby Drake's form into clear ice, and showed him his true potential. Then of course there's Uncanny #300, where Iceman bulked up like Hulk, to use his powers offensively. These events happened long before Emma's takeover of Iceman's body.
Wish some writers would do him justice...but few rarely do. He essentially has the power to destroy the earth, yet is always seen as a sideshow.
He's more powerful than storm AND the Fantastic 4. Johnny, Sue, Thing.. none are as powerful. Tho, johnny has type advantage.. Dude can affect the other planets of other systems, from earth

No, it doesn't matter that at the end, the entire timeline is retconned, Iceman did die twice in both sentinel encounters. The movies greatly nerfed his abilities, as did every other character.
I never thought of Iceman as an "Ice Lantern" until you used the word "construct." I always thought he just cooled the temperature around him until the water vapor froze but he basically can control water molecules.

Rubbing alcohol is isopropyl alcohol (C3H8O), not hydrogen peroxide (H2O2), as he says at 1:04. It can't be alcohol unless it has carbon.

He froze hell over, nearly killed Thor, can exist in all states of matter which renders him immortal, create Absolute Zero temperature where he's essentially freezing time, and plunge planets into a neverending Ice Age. This is why he's Omega level and why he'll be nerfed yet again in the current MCU meta.
If he could reach absolute zero, wouldn't that mean that no other particle could interact with him? It takes particles moving at high speeds to fuse and change, so if a colliding particle hit him, his molecules will still be intact, allowing himself to reform his physical body . Also, couldnt he freeze and slow down areas around him to absolute zero basically stopping the flow of time for anything within range? (black hole without the gravity)

They are easily the most annoying actors that ever appeared in a Marvel movie.
They were in fact so terrible that I suppressed the memory of Icemans existence until I saw this video.
Being the ideal female hero for a movie, Paquins Rouge also was never seen again on screen for more than 5 seconds. Rightfully so I should ad.
Being an engineer, I really liked how Iceman evolved from just a dude covered in snow, to a guy who can convert all his molecules into ice, to someone who can control the laws of thermodynamics. That basically makes him a god - this certainly justifies his title as an Omega-level mutant. Thanks for the vid.

actually i just discovered the closed captioned option today while using the smartboard. The Deadpool film is hugely popular here among teens. I teach EFL at a private high school, and the kids are lazy, distracted and unmotivated. Its tough! But they really perk up when I have shown anything related to American popular culture, and Comicbook Girl 19's documentaries on the X-Men, and Comics Explained are a godsend!

In that upon looking at the criteria for an "Omega" level mutant, given the examples of his power range and such... despite being portrayed as such, he would definitely fit in there. In that there's so much overlooked potential in him. Admittedly, upon seeing the title, even I was like "Iceman...? Really?"

I remember growing up, in the schoolyard, I would always debate about how badass Iceman was. Two game changing moments for Iceman as a fan for me were: 1) when he froze Legion and 2) regeneration of flesh when reverting to human form. I think it would be totally awesome if they gave Iceman his own mini-series by turning him into a villain. It's quite possible he could affect global climate by creating an Ice Age, or create his own City of Ice up north. It's a good thing he's an X-Man, because he sure would make one hell of a super-villain.
Further reason why that X2 climax was BS. You had a mutant that could freeze the water from the ruptured dam but screenwriters had to create false drama...

you forgot the law of thermal dynamics. heat can only be taken away, in which if you can take away heat, as bobby does, you can only destroy what the sun has provided, in that concept, bobby can only create cold as his mutanic capabilities. So don't overlook the fact that he can most likely and most definitely destroy the sun, thus destroying the solar system. Subjective to the scenario that he can get close enough to the sun to create a shield out of the chemicals in the space and hold them to implode the solar system. thus, increasing his omega level.

H2O2 is Hydrogen Peroxide, not rubbing alcohol. Rubbing alcohol is C3H8O or one carbon atom to 3 hydrogen atoms and 8 oxygen atoms.
In order to make cold you have to quickly disperse and control heat, so he could have the powers of the human torch as well. Johnny can extinguish fires and create cold by absorbing heat into himself, and even heal burns on people. Bobby should be able to do the same, in fact they both seem to have the same power, just used in different ways. Projecting cold or heat toward the atmosphere can control the weather, cause thunder and make elements super-conductive. He could cause tornadoes and hurricanes, alter sea currents and turn the earth into a desert or bring in a global ice age.
Bobby Drake as a heel during Remender's Age of Archangel storyline was fucking terrifying. He became a giant demon snowman and shattered Deadpool into a million pieces.
Always thought it was weird that, given his original form, Bobby wasn't named "Snowman." It's worked out but seemed like a missed opportunity through that narrow lens.

It was stated the reason Bobby never tapped into his full potential is because deep down he also has confidence issues which is why he was always plays it off as the "class clown" of the Xmen. The fact Bobby or Ororo on a whim can Ice Age the whole planet is crazy. A majority of Marvel's omega level mutants are on the Xmen so seeing these past years because the Disney had beef with Fox, they would have the Xmen lose to the Avengers constantly prompted multiple eyerolls.
Jean Grey was actually jealous that Bobby could use his potential at his own pace since their first meeting. It was like the self-imposed limits of the Molecule Man believing that he could not use his abilities directly on living beings, then later overcoming his limitations.

I was liatening to your video and I just realized that Iceman is basically a reality warper that is learning to develop his powers in a different way.
He contols molecules with a form of telekinesis and not only slowing molecules down but also speeding them up.
to further add the fact that it takes energy to form that water molecule and so he is manipulating energy on a finite scale
Could you make a video discussing Gambit and Sync's potential as possible omega? The New Sun story expanded gambits powers and Sync possibly could have been one of the most powerful mutants in the marvel universe if not killed so early.

When he came across Mikhail Rasputin he used his mutant abilities on him and it was at that moment when Iceman discovered that his potential was still a long way from perfection. He realized how to turn his whole body into ice, not just cover it, he could turn into new shapes and use his powers to a greater extent. He showed him he could become as clear as glass but twice as hard a diamond this happen before Emma Frost.

Since this series came out I've always wondered what your thoughts are on Chamber's "potential" to be Omega Level. He has always been a favorite of mine because he constantly struggles to fit in and get along with others because of how his powers emerged and despite being trained so much he's never shown an extreme improvement on control of them. It's like his energy is so raw it's impossible to balance.
I was expecting to see some talk at how Iceman Bobby Drake can create super strength beings, such as what he did with the "All New X-Men: Children of the Atom" storyline where you could see two different version of Iceman, one looking like a weather wizard and the other a Hulk-type Iceman.

One example of how Iceman is near immortal is Uncanny X-men #432. He took a rocket to his chest and then it detonated. Afterwards, he was only a head. Also, he showed how deadly he can be by using the moisture of one of the villain's bodies and extracted it to create his new body, mummifying her in the process.
Such a badass hero. My only problem with him now is the fact that they made him gay. not that i have a problem with him being gay per say, but more so that they felt the need to turn a superhero gay just for publicity basically. sure you can make some innuendos about his costume and what not but they couldve just made a new superhero and have him be gay or some other not well known hero and done that (i.e northstar) but instead they go with iceman. it really bothers me when they change a characters sexuality, gender, ethnicity, etc. just to conform to todays society. I know someone out there is going to say some bullshit but i honestly dont care but Iceman shouldn't be gay.
it wasnt a sudden thing though. Different writers have been hinting at him being gay subtlety for years. I mean it's not uncommon for people to hide and supress their sexuality for years if not decades.

If we're going to look at every hero with failed relationships as a potential homosexual then there isn't a straight hero in the Marvel Universe. (Maybe Reed Richards) There is more evidence pointing against it. Like the fact Emma Frost, never mentioning it when she shared a mind with him, or the fact that when the apocalypse seed was acting on his subconscious and summoning all the WOMEN he was romantically involved with. It's the dumbest retcon in Marvel history...well one of the dumbest Secret Invasion, One More Day, Civil War.
The evidence throughout the years that he isn't drastically outweighs the 'evidence' that he is. I also wish they'd just make a new gay character. Look at the Young Avengers and the Runaways. They both have gay characters who are awesome.

He has created water ice out of nothing. He can generate and control energy and matter that he himself created. Never has he not been able to make litteral tons of ice because the humidity was too low.

I've never been a comic reader. Which means I've never read one. But I've always been fascinated when learning how powerful these X-men are/can be, and learning of their evolution in print over the years. I found your channel and was very excited.
That being said, you spend too much time side tracking and creating too many boring and unnecessary tangents. I can appreciate some of them in order to establish this or that about their powers, but in every single video you lose focus. You literally spend more time on "side tracks" and speaking about multiple other mutants compared to the specific character in your titles!
If we want a history of these characters, we can go to google. I suggest making the videos more focused on what these mutants can/could do, hypothetical battles, etc. Stay true to the titles of your videos.

How do you write such op characters? Who could they face? What would their struggles be, besides the typical "controlling their powers."
well Iceman is gay so they did a whole arc about him coming to terms with his sexuality.
but the same thing could be said about any long running OP hero, you just need good writers who think outside the box and give the character unique challenges

Preacher's protagonist had the power to force anybody, including the devil or god himself, to follow his orders. It had great writing and was an incredibly enjoyable story.
Dr. Manhattan from Watchmen was essentially omniscient and almost omnipotent.
Watchmen is commonly regarded as one of the best graphic novels of all time.
Another series that received much praising is Sandman, by Neil Gaiman. It's a story about the incarnation of a conceptual entity, dream. The protagonist is essentially an all-powerful god.
And there are even more extreme examples like Solar or Max Faraday.
Overpowered characters can be written without any problems, it's just harder then writing street level superheroes, therefore you need good writers.
Shendue preacher had the saint of killers one of the most op comic characters ever and my favorite in the story and Genesis made him turn the hell around and walk away lol

It's always interesting when a character is created. Iceman, he can make control ice. Simple. Time passes and another writer goes "he can make and manipulate ice? Ice is made by molecules slowing down. That means he can do x things... " And they realize how powerful they could be. It's very interesting. Like Magneto. "He can control metal" then it became "he can control magnetic fields" and someone realized "magnetic fields are everywhere on earth at every moment" so suddenly Magneto is infinitely more powerful. It's all been very interesting. I love telling people that Iceman can destroy the entire world in a moment and no one believes me. Well like the video said water vapor and such is everywhere on earth. Every human is mostly water. The lakes and oceans contain a number of gallons I can't conceive. But they think he's weak. It's fun to shut them up.

H2O2 is not rubbing alcohol, it's hydrogen peroxide. Rubbing alcohol is either ethanol (C2H60; in the US, required to be "denatured" with something else that's poisonous), or else isopropanol (C3H8O).
The reason why Iceman got this amount of power is because Loki amped it up; he was blocking his actual amount of power afterwards, and Emma Frost unlocked it again.
Would Cable be Omega? It's stated in the comics but the son of Gean and Scott as well as his telekinesis being on par with Gene. But these are gueses, Iv no clue. If he is......, Cable! Do Cable Next Please!! :D

Also, Aokiji *is* ice. You can't kill him, unless you attack him using haki (again, something that only appears in the One Piece universe).

Ice man can control heat, right? Or rather, lower the temperature of anything he wants. While Aokiji can't really do that, specially over long distances. All Aokiji can do is create ice from nothing, or turn liquid water/moisture into solid ice.

While Aokiji can lower the temperature of water, and only of water, nothing else. Or, alternatively, if there's no water around, he can create ice outta nowhere, sure.

Iceman has always been my favorite X-men member, and he seems to get no respect amongst more obviously powerful mutants like Logan, Jean, and even Spiderman.
His Omega status has always been ignored.
