      I do the same thing with frying the rice I also mix my favorite salsa and with the tomato sauce so I probably put half salsa and half tomato sauce oh PS PS I also cook up a half a pound of hamburger or ground chicken and put in it I also have a bell pepper love bell pepper

    Amazing the silly things some people will find to get offended about. 🤣 It's in all the Mexican restaurants, so it's Mexican rice! It's a misnomer anyway, because Spanish rice (like paella) tends to have saffron and a different flavour profile, though the pre-browning technique is the same. This dish is from Mexico, it's MEXICAN RICE. It's very different from actual Spanish rice. Imagine that, people correcting a MEXICAN-AMERICAN cook on whether her rice is actually Mexican! The nerve. 🙄
    FYI, Christina, I think you meant that rice started out transparent and becomes opaque after browning. 😋 Opaque means you cannot see through it. 😘 But this recipe is making my mouth water! Thank you for sharing it!✨🥳✨

    Cleaning rice is only for rice that doesn’t need to be toasted first 👌🏽 if you rinse for Mexican rice, besides needing the starches, it’ll take longer to cook if wet. Love the tutorial it came out perfect!

One thing, however, that I'm surprised nobody said anything about...putting the pot to your rice cooker over the open flame of your gas stove. No way would I ever do that and risk ruining my cooker. I'll be following your recipe tonight, ingredient-wise, but in a deep-dish skillet with a lid. I have great expectations that it will turn out delicious! Muchas gracias for the video!! 🌶🧅🧄🫑🍅❤

      You you know what Priscilla I figured out why people are so angry that I don’t wash the rice first. It’s because in some other countries the rice has a lot of rat poop and things in it that shouldn’t be in it. The only reason I know is because recently I got a bag of rice from a different country and it was really infested with rats feces.

    Making this tonight, thank you!
    I noticed something small that I just wanted to point out (no hate or anything 💙)
    You mentioned the raw rice was almost clear but then said it was opaque...
    The word opaque means solid and not see through-able
    I think you meant translucent which means like a cloudy clearness or you can sort of see through it
    Or transparent which means totally clear.
    Walls are opaque, windows are transparent and juice is translucent
    I only !emtion it because it's important in the recipe for you to see how done the rice is and the word mix up could cause confusion

  • @D0minate98
    @D0minate98 3 роки тому +1

    Opaque means: not able to be seen through; not transparent.
    I think you meant transparent.
    MSG is king of flavor.
    Also washing the rice makes it not sticky. Starch acts as adhesive.
    Anyways great video, thank you for your demonstration.

    Free will is great! But something many of you non washers should know. Rice is processed dry. It's not washed. Depends on what company processes it. Anyway grain is stored and processed from a grain elevator. Which has a rodent and insect program, but they are not 100% and they do get in to the grains. They get them out by fans and sifting but it don't clean off contaminates like droppings and Dead insect that laying in the grains.
    Safety rules for anything is to help us stay healthy, just like rules on driving. Roll yours if you want. You may have a strong immune system to keep you healthy now, but it might not always be the case all the time.
    Point is wash your food. It's not that big a deal. Really.

    • @ghettogodmuhvatarot3458
      @ghettogodmuhvatarot3458 4 роки тому +2

      Just curious how does rinsing the rice get rid of the contamination? It’s just water, or should I use some type of wash with it as well? Because to me it’s like rinsing your hands before eating, you’re not killing the germs without using soap so whether you rinse or not it doesn’t really make a difference. But idk much on rice so please educate me as I plan on making this in a few days. 🤗

    Omg I've been browning my rice in another pot and then throwing it into the rice cooker. I'm going to just brown it in the little rice cooker pot, less dishes

    Perhaps this dish originated in Spain and the Spanish brought the recipe with them. Over time Mexicans and Americans associated it with Mexico and referred to it as Mexican rice. Do the Mexicans speak Spanish or Mexican?

    you rinse the rice because of weevil bugs and beetle bugs and starch....those bugs spread like cancer all over your spice jars and shit...

      But since I fried the rice prior to cooking it didn’t kill anything that was in it?

      Its all about personal preference. Weevil and beetle bugs are not harmful. This was a very educational video and I was delighted to see a creator put so much effort into their content.
