I use both brands and enjoy them both. In my opinion they are both good paint. Couple of points. 1. Like the price of Behr over BM and the quick availability at any nearby HD box store. 2. It appear you didn’t drag the sneaker as hard on the BM side as you did on Behr, maybe camera angle. 3. You accomplished this test a week and half after you top coated, but the Behr paint clearly state it takes a month to cure. Just using ratios of cure time from the can instructions, BM would be 3/4 cured at this point, but the Behr was just over 1/3 cured. Would like to see a retest of the Behr after a full cure. I have a feeling it gets real tough after a month if it takes that long cure. Thanks for doing the test.
was worried about this as well. We went back after 5 weeks right before we put a new color on and results were pretty much the same. We are working on another way to test out these products and others as well. There was a little bit of worry about the applications going on different surfaces and not just over more paint of various sheens. A more conclusive test should be released sometime this spring on our channel.
Thank you for comparing these two, it was interesting for sure. Despite what some of the other comments say, I have been using Behr inside my home for the past 20 years and have been happy. Especially the newer Dynasty (pretty expensive though). I am going to be using a scuff resistant mix in my garage soon, which brought me to this video. I am curious if the comparison is somewhat flawed in that it seemed the B.M. received nearly the complete curing time suggested and the Behr had half of its recommended time. That said, I am still not too naive to think that any scuff resistant paint is going to be flawless. I still have some time to make up my mind.
We were aware of the cure time from the start. We left this comparison up on our wall for just over 4 weeks with another test we didn't post. The results were the same as shown in the video here. We also know not all scuff marks are the same and not all surfaces get the same amount of wear and tear! Any experience with Behr on your home with things like liquids spilling on the surface? I'd love to hear some real world experience with Behr in their home
@@TribblePaintingCompany Thanks for that update, that is very helpful. So far I am leaning towards the Benjamin Moore, OR I may even try the Behr Dynasty since they are the same price. Heck, maybe even two tone the garage with both paints just for the heck of it. I haven't any young kids to test the Dynasty and I hate painting projects enough to not want to test the wear of Dynasty myself, yet (well, I hate paint prep and clean-up, painting is fun). The garage would be an organic scuff test. I can say this, I have never felt a seemingly regular home interior paint feel so solid than the Dynasty does. I will update later. Thanks again
I think it's fair to point out that BM and Behr sheens don't match sheen for sheen, especially the Scuff-X sheens which are debatably a sheen higher than they're rated. I think it would be interesting to see how the Behr satin compares to Scuff-X eggshell, or something similar.

Scuff x with their stix primer is great for cabinet doors going over a year strong. Also just did my electric base boards with this combo to see how well it holds with heat.

Hello! Both are great products, Scuff-X does cure quicker than Advance Hybrid Enamel, but they are pretty equivalent. That being said, if you go with a white, because of the alkyd resins in the Advance Hybrid Enamel, the cabinets may turn yellow after quite some time.
Doing a scuff test after a few days is pointless. The difference between Behr and BM is the CPVC ratio. This is the ratio of pigment to binders. Behr has a higher pigment value on almost all their paints. BM has more binders often requiring more coats (Most Behr is one coat and a backroll) Either way I’ve never worked with a paint that didn’t take 28 days to properly cure…despite what Benji says.
How do you think this product compares to other premium paints such as regal select or duration? I'm looking for a nice durable paint to use in long term rental houses. Repainting every couple years wouldn't be a big deal except my tenants stay for quite a while, so I want something that will last. I'm wondering if this is the ticket.
Hi Joshua I don't see a down side to using Scuff-X. It is durable, washable, looks great just like the regal select or duration with the added benefit of being scuff resistant. I would think this in a long term rental where you probably are not repainting until your tenant moves out, this would keep the walls looking fresh longer. What have you been using in the past? Hope this helps.

Just used scuff defence on a wall and holy does it cover poorly I had to do 3 coats and I still see streaks and in some parts see previous Color coming through.
