- The #ToyotaGR86 is a decade old and to celebrate this anniversary, #Toyota is introducing the 2023 #GR8610thAnniversary and the company is only building 860 examples for the 2023 model year. It starts life as a #GR86Premium trim and gets a unique #SolarShift orange paint, special 18” gunmetal gray matte finished wheels, a cat-back sport exhaust system, and unique graphics on the rear. The interior also gets unique badging and match orange stitching. Production begins in November and expect pricing to be a few thousand more than the Premium trim.

I had this exhaust installed on my GR86 after the fact and I’m liking it so far.
Which exhaust is this?

@@nolifealex no idea, i saw it while browsing thru the Japanese toyota website, could not understand a word in there, only saw the picture
Love the color, we need more color options like this I’m tired of seeing only black, white, and silver cars on the road it’s very boring
It is pretty sweet. Check out the trueno blue version.
Wow! This is my favorite Toyota sportscar.
Good job with your reviews always Sofyan.
BEAUTIFUL. Toyota Design is 10/10
Why is the firewall in the engine bay red?
I call that Tony the Tiger x GR86. It's grrrrrrrrrrreat!
Great camera angles/work
4:05 "show me sound" can you let me hear light too.😂
HAHAHAHA
Hey, i was just at Utah Motorsports park racing my GR86!
This special edition looks pretty good! Now I'm curious what the heck they did with the interior that could t be shown 🤔 Orange stitching, or accents maybe?
Go watch toyota Jeff he showed the interior lmao. It's the same as the Japanese one. Orange stitching, orange insert on the seats, embroidered 10th anniversary on the door.
I love those wheels !
Looks great!
Nice content including exhaust sounds! Are all the 860 built going to North America?
Hey Sofyan! Great review like always. I heard there are issues with the GR86/BRZ involving silicone that may seep into the oil pan. What are your thoughts about it? I really want to buy it as a 2nd car. Is it a big big problem?

my dealer told me a couple weeks ago they weren’t able to order it and i just had to hope they get one
Toyota dealers are nuts with their current markups of regular GR86's. Can't wait to see what they apply to this one.
Love it 😍
why is the back of the engine bay red?
I love the color.
Yea looks nice but they gotta fix the oil pickup tube sucking up the rtv which makes the engine go bye bye
beautiful exhaust note. just as loud as i would want any car, no more or less.
Love the whole car
Holy windshield tint batman
The red paint on the firewall is a deal breaker!
So what your saying is you were not even in the market for this car anyways if such a small detail would sway you from a car you were possibly interested in. People are frikkin weird.
Color is sick!
Picking mine up next week!
Is this the same color as Solar Orange that Subaru offers on the WRX?
Color is awesome
Beautiful
This car looks amazing!
Really nice sound and the look is stunning
I actually got lucky and got my hands on this exact one! Can't wait to see it in person!!!
God bless you. How did you actually get it? I have my name put in for a raffle and hopefully I get it!
@@uncleiroh8665 I'm not the person you asked, but I happened to get lucky on getting one too. I wanted to see a Neptune Blue in person and my local dealer had one come in (already sold), but I went to go see how it looked. I liked it so much, I went to place a deposit and while I was there, this got announced and I asked if I could put my name down for it instead - they took my deposit and last week they called me and said it leaves port on December 23rd and should be at the dealership for me in late January or early February. Total MSRP was just over $37,000.
@@davidgarris7467 did you have to pay a markup?
I just got mine here in western mass ..just a few days ago I’ve always been vw gti nuts I’ve had 5 generations of that car.. but my 2015 was worn out .. the dealer just got one off the truck.. I believe only one of 2 left here in New England.. I had no idea what this car was like ..but I love it ! I wanted to try something different.. had no idea the 5 other people were waiting to test drive the car that day..
I’m definitely going to get it
215s,?? oh you definitely gonna have a tail-happy experience for sure lol
explain in beginner terms lol
@@uncleiroh8665 same pls lol
Why they hiding the inside
Love the orange
Why not put the 300hp 3 cylinder from the GR Corolla in this car?
why not put FA24 turbo from WRX in? That motor has way more potential than 3 cylinder from Corolla that is already running over 20 psi.
@@Jez4prez1 people have been asking Subaru / Toyota to put a four cylinder turbocharged engine in the BRZ / 86, but they say that would throw off the weight balance. The three cylinder turbocharged engine from the GR Corolla weighs significantly less than a turbocharged four cylinder engine, so maybe they would consider it.
If they paint the shark fin antenna green, the whole thing will look like a pumpkin. 😉
I would have love to see a walk around of the 10th anniversary car" 1st before showing the same old engine...
Very Nice Bro! Get Good People!
That's a nice color combination 🔥but the back of the engine bay is red? Interesting ..
Because it’s a spray over like the previous 860 edition
Would like to buy but they probably want some ridiculous price.
Unfortunately that's the market right now
It’s not the msrp, it’s the dealer markup. Total scumbags.
And 6 months backordered
Wait for it, wait for it…….the downturn in around the corner
When I purchased my special edition Subaru BRZ Series Blue it was MSRP, no markup. I wouldn't pay anything extra.
Mines on order ;)
When we getting the manual Supra?
Now. They were available at the same press location that this car was at.
Damn, I was hoping to get this by October. Good news is that hopefully Subaru will have fixed the oil pick up issue by then.
That’s exactly what I was thinking. I wanted this car but after hearing about they catch on fire, the silicon build up, oil problems, I am just not too sure even about a 2023 now. Until Toyota can confirm all these issues are fixed now I’ll be less scared to invest into this vehicle.
Update. Getting it by the end of the month.
@Alex Rain hey! With that update do you know if the issues got fixed up?
@@actseight9358 all the research I have done shows to, No. The RTV is still an issue but the RTV is not the major factor to the engine blowouts. Tracking the car with inefficient oil and keeping the temp above 280 degrees is like setting your engine on fire. However, it is a good idea to drop the pan and clean your pick up tube After breaking it in. The RTV is all over the engine so after 10K miles of driving, it will all find its way to your pan. That is when I'm dropping my pan to clean it. I'm not tracking the car so it's not a major concern for me.
@Alex Rain okay I was looking into it and I found about the same conclusions. Good to hear then! On that note have you gotten your car yet?
This or 2017 Abarth 124 spider/GT?
Looks great. I wouldn't pay extra for it though.
The orange and the black strip reminds me of Tony the Tiger car lol but I like it
Where is the surprise you said you will show at the end of the video?
With it being light weight and rear wheel drive, a small and clean turbo kit would be perfect. Nothing too crazy.
Strange review where you look at the back of the car for 6 minutes. Does it have an interior?
I’m thirsty for some sunkist now lol
Was the firewall on that car really RED.....or was that just the lighting? In the video it looks red.......which looks horrible with the orange paint.
They should of done the trueno 🐼 color.
I prefer the BRZ front end but the GR does look great in that color. But then again, most of the other color options are mundane so it may just be that its a proper color for a sports car. I dont get why its special edition though aside from limiting the production numbers. Its all cosmetics
They should put the gr corolla engine in it then i would buy it
Toyota hmu today and told me they have one in stock I will be heading there this weekend
FIX RTV ISSUE PLEASE
I think it would look way better if the wing and mirrors were color matched.
What did you mean that the 2.4 L was Toyota’s contribution into this engine?
That's a nice color combination 🔥
I would hold out for the Corolla GR, that is if you can end up finding either of these models.
Two completely different cars. That’s like saying to hold out on a Porsche Cayman to get a panamera
Can’t see the interior just yet that’s why it’s tinted so dark
It’s crazy it’s 30k for a Toyota 86
I had been researching this car for a while. I even scheduled a testd rive for tomorrow. But this is like the third time I have heard or read someone say "starter Sportscar" when referring to it. I reevaluated. Im going to just save my money for a used Cayman. Im not a "budding" enthusiast, and I am too old to ride around in anything made for "starters," unless I make it a track car. I wouldn't recommend anyone buying a "starter" sports car, motorcycle, for anything. Mostly, "starter" just means less than competent. Get a fully competent vehicle you can grow into, not one you need to see because it won't satisfy. Any other move is a suckers bet.
That sounds like a really round about way of saying, "I am easily swayed by other people's opinions."
I don't like the interior of the GR86/BRZ, but if Toyota ever releases an orange Supra, then I'll buy one of those.
They're having trouble producing enough base and premium trims, so Nov production is laughable.
Solar Shit is a awesome name for the color. ( i know its shift )
They need to bring this color to the Supra
still don't understand how you give the corolla a turbo but not the gr86. smh
Looks basically like my or a 350Z
That front end is similar to the new Nissan Z 🤷🏾
Give us a taste of that gr Corolla
This car is nice but for 30k+ u can get a 5.0 mustang or scatpack challenger less than 5 years old and double the power
Comparing trash American garbage that handles like a tank that every blowhard has to a Japanese sports car lol.
Not everyone prefers more horsepower.
This car is for cornering fun, not going-fast-in-a-straight-line fun.
Maybe a base model 5.0 with some miles but there are no performance pack cars going for less than these.
american muscle? nah unless its a classic. ghetto ass cars
Don’t forget to mention the extra extra markup since it’s a special edition… hint hint $50k
You dont know what you talking about...
i got one at MSRP dawg
Rather than wasting their time on useless paint colours, maybe they should fix the RTV clogging the oil pickup tubes issue, have a factory BBK option, and stop cheaping out on the engine sealing. No way I would ever pay my own money to have an engine grenade on me with progressively worse clogging from RTV building up.
Another bleep! I couldn’t finished it! You’re cool now!!
😍😍😍😍😍😍
Same car same
Motor about to fail from silicone haha
Punkin 🎃 !
Its not worth the price!!!
Plus dealers going price gauge!!
Someone explain to me why brz and 86 are the same exact cars?
It's a partnership between Toyota and Subaru. The front bumpers are differnt, and that's about it. and many say they drive very different, but that depends on you.
Why spend $35k on this when you can get a 300hp GR Corolla with AWD?
bc thats 40k + so might as well get a Supra at that point. this is the highest trim of the 86 so ofc it will be more expensive but base starts at 27k
Corolla is 4 doors & butt ugly. GR86 is 2 doors & this coupe is clean. I’m on the fence with this orange colour though…
@@JG-gz4uk If you don't already have one confirmed and allocated, the color is a negligible consideration. These things were all reserved months in advance and most dealers have a multi-month waitlist for any GR86 at all.
Why the he k is the firewall in the engine bay a bright red? Dosent match the paint, whack af
Gr86 special edition a paul walker return
Do not drive this like a track car because Toyota will not honor their warranty to repair the engine from oil starvation due to RTV sealant leaking and clogging…
I love this car, but this special edition is a joke.
Assuming you get it at MSRP (yes, there are dealers that aren't screwing over customers) it's not a bad deal. It starts as a Premium and the MSRP is roughly $4000 more. Special color and stitching aside, the GR Exhaust can be bought for any 86/BRZ for $1700 and even the cheapest set of forged wheels tend to start at $2000, so they're not even jacking up the price beyond the cost of the extras. If they had tried to slap a $37-40K price tag on it, then it would have been a ripoff, but if you wanted a GR exhaust and forged wheels you're not being ripped off.
I’ve seen 3-10k mark up in this one already
Seems to be a problem in some areas, but not all. I have the final pricing from my local dealership for mine, got it at MSRP. The other dealerships in my area that are getting them are also listing them at MSRP, but they're already spoken for by people that were on their waiting lists.
@@Dreznin Yeah, they're dealerships out there that sell at MSRP but with how limited these cars are, it's going to be hard if you aren't number 1 on the list. I heard at most, every dealership should get at least one or hopefully get one
@@KiraOniiChan Oh yeah, if you don't have one reserved right now, the chances of getting one are extremely slim. I was lucky - I was at the dealership to see a Neptune Blue in-person before deciding which color I wanted to have as my preference on their waiting list and the 10th Anniversary got announced while I was there. I happen to like orange on a sports car, so I jumped at the opportunity and had a deposit down on it less than 15 minutes after it was announced.
Got mine for 80k
But IN GTA
Fire wall red?!
Only white is the best
Miata wanna be??
miata is for grampas
The Subaru reliability keeps me away from this 86 even if it's from "Toyota"
The engines have been blowing up idk if you heard but another guy who had “4 months” of repairs from the dealer blew up his engine shortly after getting it back
Looks like a Porsche 😍
Why would they not bump this up to a v6, plenty of room in the engine bay for it. Now that would be “special edition” and worth the upcharge
A v6 will offset the balance of the car. More power isn’t always a good thing. They have the supra if you want a 6 cylinder
They could put gr corolla engine in it
@@erp2000 They could but didn’t 😅. Anyone who buys this is just obsessed with an orange colored car. Other than the forged wheels and clown color what do you get???
@@benkneisley3001 only 860 being made see ur point tho. later down the line would probably hold more value imo
The engine won't last long the way drive it. It's a 4 cylinders and it is a piece of shiet engine. Everything is smaller so it breaks a lot faster when drive hard like me.
They copied the 30AE Miata Orange color.
There is no GR 86 OUT THERE that cost $28,000. They don't exist. Dealer mark ups and majority cars are automatics. Forget about MSRP. Not happening.
Automatics can me had at msrp just need to have a relationship with your dealer. Manuals too with some dealers but it’s a long wait
Subaru brz 2022 the best
"2025 gr86" is getting the GR corolla engine. Search quoted text above. Toyota wants all of their sports cars to be 100% made in-house by 2025, ending their subaru and bmw synergized products.
Looks like a premature supra
Is that the same engine that is used in the Subaru WRX? Except the WRX STi has 310hp. Would rather have the WRX Sti for the money.
