Thanks for the video. I particularly appreciated the tour of Chiangmai train station. When I first started coming to Chiangmai around 1999, I’d take the train every time from Bangkok. I’m a light sleeper, so I never got much sleep on the train. I’m going back in May and decided to take the train after I land at Bangkok’s airport around 1 PM. I might get the name of the taxi driver from you for the trip from the airport to the train station. I’ll be bringing 2 checked bags and a carryon, so any carts or help at the train station would be much appreciated
Thanks for the comment! Yes I hadn't found a good descriptive video for the the train station so I thought Id make one. Mr. Sit is the name of the taxi driver, I had him actually drive me to Chiang Mai from Bangkok. Id be happy to give you his contact info, but I dont want to post it publicly here. If you reach out to me on Instagram or Facebook I can set you in the right direction! I'm excited for your trip!
This is great and I'm going to Bangkok and Chiang Mai in November. Definitely want to take the sleeper train too. I'm really looking forward to it and I felt your sadness about leaving there. Hope you get to go back there again and again soon
It is a very hard place to leave! The longer you stay, the harder it is to leave. I am also planning to return in November, I have a soft spot for Loy Krathong in Chiang Mai. Unbelievable festival, the entire city is pure gold for 3 days of celebration!
Ah I see, they base the festival on the 12th full moon, which I believe falls on November 16th this year. Last year it was the 28th and it was amazing! But so was everything else! I have a few other videos on Loy Krathong, Doi Suthep and a river cruise I would encourage you to have a peek when you have some time. The night tour of Doi Suthep is amazing and there is a secret viewing platform there to get the view all to yourself! We might be there at the same time, I have not put in for my holidays yet but regular time off starts on the 26th so if I can get approved a week early Ill be there haha! Looks like Ill be missing the festival this year as well.
@thejauntingape I shall make a note of the river cruise and private viewing platform etc . Many thanks. I'll certainly check out the suggested videos too. Be lucky (wink)
Love your videos man 👍🏼 I’m taking my wife and 4 kids to Thailand in a few days. NZ to Thailand for 3.5 weeks 😊 We are taking the overnight train from Bangkok to Thailand and your video is both timely and on point! Love your work 🤩 Keep it up brother 👏
Isn't Bangkok in Thailand? Which other location are you going to? I would love to visit Chiang Mai and anywhere else convenient in that part of the world
The train left Chiang Mai at 3:30 PM sharp and arrived just after 5:00AM. So not quite 14 hours. The beds were all made by around 6:00PM so you could potentially get 9+ hours of sleep, not a problem!
Thanks for the view! If you are wanting a sleeper on the train, I highly recommend booking in advance. There were 1st class tickets available 2 weeks prior to when I booked, 3 days later they were gone, which is why I booked a 2nd class. When I booked this 11 days in advance, there was only 1 bottom bunk left, and come travel day every sleeper was full. There seems to always be room in the 2nd and 3rd class sitting cabins!
@navnitvora2467 my apologies for the late response! I did not recieve a notification for your reply! 12go is the name of the app I use when I'm in thailand for booking planes trains and boats! I do like going into the stations if time permits, especially for busses, so I can pick my seat!

Oh those Melon ice cream are great. They are $16 AUD here for 6 of them 🥲
Haha ya they are way overpriced in Canada as well. Gotta love Thailand! Minus 40 here as well today so everything is an ice pop today!
