Awesome comparison! The footage looks stunning from both cameras. In your opinion, which one handles low-light conditions better? Also, how does the stabilisation compare when driving on bumpy roads?
@RoamingRelaxation Hands down action 5 for low light, battery life, overheating. I just finished a 1000km road trip in the Philippines and I had both cameras on a rail. I used the gopro facing me most of the time for whenever I thought I had something good to say haha! But the gopro killed it for when I wanted slow motion shots of traffic, close calls, cool events on the road etc. Still need one camera that has everything!
Wonderful Intro bro!
@@CorneliusCreations thankyou!
Thanks! Great and useful review. Decided for the Rogue 9 after watching this.
@@OyvindSolstad glad it helped! Thanks for the view :)
How does it handle driving in the snow? Going to be driving a lot of snowy mountain roads and wondering if this can handle it well
@UTYeti i had it through the snow in Calgary last weekend. I was quite surprised how responsive the awd is in the snow covered ice underneath. Is it a mountain climbing machine? Not really lol, clearance isnt super awesome for offloading. It does well on trails in the summer but haven't pushed it to the max in the winter yet
Thank you for your video- About to purchase the Action 5..
@androidemulator6952 your welcome! Glad I could help! I just came back from the Phillipines and used the action 5 90% hero 13%. The gopro still whips ass on the slow motion and water sports.
Hi there, thank you so much for the video. I am in the same situation here, leaving today to Thailand from the USA, and didn't realize I needed to apply for the registration of the drone weeks before. I will be there only for 2 weeks. is it worth to bring the drone and apply for insurance and registration? we will be back on the 7th of December. thank you
Hi! Thanks for the view, My opinion is that you are probably too late, however you might be able to have things cleared up inside of a week if your lucky. YOu could always send an inquiry email to FEIC and see what they think for timeline on the CAAT. Another way is to go down to a CAAT office in Bangkok when you arrive to see if they can get it done right away. For this I have no experience, I imagine with traffic and the monster that is Bangkok, this would be a bit of a headache! I just recently had a new drone cleared using FEIC, it took 2 weeks to clear with CAAT. However I know of others who have had it done inside of a week recently. If thats the case, it would be worth it, you will have the second week to fly it. Once you arrive, you send FEIC a picture of your entry Visa stamp and they secure the NBTC portion, which again from my experience, 1-2 days you will be cleared. I am flying in Nov 29!
This crazy man. Can these sharks damage a human? I know they don’t bite but you mentioned about instructions before going near them, can they slap one with the tale?
Unreal! Swimming next to them it would be pretty easy for them to give you damage if they wanted! However they were so friendly and just wanted to swim with us! I had a couple of times where the bumped into me, it was just a gentle push, almost as though they wanted to be pet! So cool!
@@thejauntingape insane :))) it’s like a Disney ride x10 by adrenaline and it’s unmatched by what memories it gives you. I’ve been to Costa Rica and Thailand but never visited Philippines and thanks to you it gets on my list.

That's one of the bucket list items Id love to redo! Those sharks left Gansbaii in 2016 if you look into it. Which means we were of the last people to swim with them there! Rumor has it the Orcas moved in and chowed down on their livers... but no more Great whites in Gansbaii my friend

✍ Thanks a lot man, your video helped to get the visa extension at C.M. Immigration. I just want to summaries what you said in the video and add from my own experience: First of all, Canadians (and many other nationalities) get 60 days upon arrival without any visa. At BKK airport you will get a stamp in your passport with the date of your arrival plus 60 more days forward. If you want to stay in the Kingdome more than that you can apply for an extra 30 days. To do this, prepare 1900 baht and read below. Second, do all printouts and photocopies at any Photocopy shop in the city, it's only 1 Thai Baht per page. + arrive around 8 A.M. to Chian Mai Central Festival mall, find the parking lot and go to the 2nd Floor. Walk G-->1-->2 The second floor has pink color columns, look for A21; B22 columns or for the big sign "Immigration" + stay in the line and get your number. My number was 17 and my wife got 18 and we came 8h15m. The door opens 9 A.M. + I was 90% prepared and this is what I had: + TM.7 Download this form from the web. Fill it if you have a laptop with installed PDF Reader and print it. If you can't fill it on the computer, then print it out and fill by hand. I put all dates in the version 05 NOV 2024. Some people on the internet write month with Digits or put only 2-digits for the year. I did in the format above and it that worked great. Sign the TM.7 on both pages. You have to include full address including apartment or room number and your Thai phone number + TM.30 this form was given to me by the office of the building where I rent my room. Print it and sign. + I had my 4cm x 6cm picture, that left from getting my International Driving License and it was accepted. My wife took her picture at the immigration office for 150 Thai Baht + Bring your passport and photocopy of two pages. The Main page (your photo page) and the page with the boarder officer stamp. Sign both these pages + STM.2 I couldn't find this form online, but you can fill and sign there at the Immigration Office. If you find it online, do it and be more prepared + one more one-page form, it has no specific Number but it's a quick fill/sign at the Immigration Office The End. Love each other and watch The Jaunting Ape videos.

Maybe my settings are off, but the Action 5 Pro is horrible for loud rock music recordings compared to any of my GoPros, including GoPro 12. Any help?
@@MarkEngeinteresting. I'm thinking you may have the wind noise reduction on. Check that out in the settings.
What if i have no visa requirements to enter Thailand. How do 1 register on the NBTC then?
@@ganisenscouser6822 you just have to show them a picture of your entry stamp.
You take a photo of your main passport pages plus a photo of the immigration stamp showing your entry date and duration of stay This means you cannot apply before you arrive as this is a requirement. I also used FEIC at the beginning of this month, it cost me 3098 Thai baht and I got everything through in 1 week, they do tell you around 2 weeks. They will send you all the requirements if you contact them before you arrive, their online application form wouldn’t load my photos so I had to send everything to their email, it was really straightforward
Thank u so much@@tommykeenan4930
I just got my mini 4 put through for my trip next week. It took 2 weeks for the CAAT. Longer than last time. But its all good to go and all I have to do is send them the stamp when I land!

Hey buddy, you've mentioned some camping equipment at the thrift store. What do you think about bringing a small cooking stove with you and buy a fuel right there. I'm a big fan of them and reply with a couple of good videos on a subj. For your style probably a small alcohol stove would be best. Small titanium pot and you are set for the morning coffee and oatmeal and evening tea. If you find yourself far from the restaurant and hungry, you can always boil 3-4 eggs for the supper and save on 25 dollars meals. Your SUV + mattress setup is great. I think for Costa Rica it's a spot on setup. What do you do the open window at night and mosquito? Do you have a net for the side window?
Solid comment! So I'm reading this while I'm waiting at the Calgary airport, I'm on route to the Cebu where I've got another SUV to pick up Nov 1. This winter I've packed a second carry on which includes a pile of camping gear. I have 2 different stoves in there so it's all going to depend on what kind of fuel I can find down there! I do have a small USB fan that I run off a battery bank. There has been times when the heat is out of control where I run the ac in the car, with the windows cracked of course. The positive pressure and cold air keep the little blood sucker's out where they belong! I've got a video if you haven't stumbled across yet where I review all most my gear for overseas car camping. Waterfalls and whale sharks! I'm super excited!
@@thejauntingape I'll definitely will look for that video and will be waiting to see your stove setup work in progress. I think your style traveling is somewhat related to camping/car camping/back packing/outdoor life. I also went through the 30-day extension yesterday and want to type a nice big fat comment on your Chiang Mai Immigration video to give people information that you shared in the written form. If you can pin it later, it should help other the same way you helped me.
@george.carlin fantastic! Yes I am currently living out of a car in the North of Cebu. Gathering a ton of footage but only getting a few shorts out as of now. I'm gonna have to set up for a few days of editing to get some longer form out. As always I appreciate your input on my channel!
@george.carlin I think the information about eating the bun paper is probably the best they can have haha!
Oh no you poor euro-murican
Incredible video man. Found your video about C.M. 30day visa extension and looked at another videos you’ve made. Very cool.
Thanks for the kind words! Im glad your enjoying my videos!
4k drains the battery quick and it gets super hot, i use 1080 and have an ac vent cooling it dowm
Thanks for the view! I leave the camera plugged into power from the car. I have ran both the Hero 13 at 5.3K and the Action 5 at 4K for 2+hours on the loop mode and I have yet to experience either camera overheating.
The Rogue is utterly massive, yeesh. I have a Tenba DNA 13 Messenger and it's roughly the same size while offering more storage capacity compared to the Rogue. The Mckinnon is such a cool size for just a day out shooting with a couple of lenses, but I wish there were color options like the Wandrd has! Both look like great bags for relatively different case-uses.
Yes, pretty massive! I do like that I can take a drone along with my a6700 and 350mm and pocket 3. It all depends on what adventures are in store for the day!
mind if I ask how you would use these two differently? do you think it's worth having both? or is one of the two good enough? (currently trying to decide which to get).
@JoanOfArcc22 Not at all! So, I'm all over the world moving countries every couple weeks. I'm finding my main camera (a6700), with a wide lens, an 18-135 zoom lens, a 70-300 telephoto, and a 50mm portrait all fit nice and tight into the McKinnon. This usually stays inside my larger Mckinnon backpack. I'm using the wandrd for 90% of my outings. I'm able to carry a mini 4 pro drone, the camera and a couple lenses, an insta360 x4, dgi action 5 and hero 13 along with 1 full sized tripod and a compact. And a big water bottle! For my jaunting, I would absolutely buy both again, if I could only have 1, it would be the Wandrd. As far as quality goes, they are both seeing quite a bit of the world and both look like new still. Great bags!
That's incredibly helpful! Thank you so much. They both do seem great so having both make sense but I think I'm leaving towards the wandrd from your reply. Thank you! @@thejauntingape

GoPro is better. DJI is too bright in shadows, and too dark in highlights. Image is flat. GoPro is too much contrasty, but I prefer it over DJI.
I agree, I feel the look of the Gopro is more realistic as it stands. Both cameras have their strong points, and I wish there was 1 camera to rule them all!
I have the Action 5 Pro and the GoPro Hero 12 (same sensor as 13). Here’s my take: I did EXTENSIVE testing in daylight with the Action 5 Pro today. Here’s what I believe the camera is doing: The camera (till they update firmware) is shooting in HDR and it looks muddy and soft in the distance, especially in the highlights which look blown and have a glow to them. This is something that the ace pro had in its first iteration until they updated the firmware. My guess is that DJI is going to do the same exact thing. This does not seem to happen in DLog and I don’t know why. But in mixed bright light, I plan on shooting DLOG all the time till this is fixed. Also, I’m finding that if you set the white balance manually to a slightly warmer temperature like 5500K, or even 6000 (especially at sunset) it looks better (when in non DLOG). And turn texture to -1 and NR to -1 and it’s bit less muddy. EV -0.7. In low light the shutter must quadruple the frame rate and the ISO maxed or its jitter and jello city. I am praying that DJI releases a firmware update before the Ace Pro 2 comes in swinging hard. They need to allow a non HDR option in normal color mode, fix super night and up bit rate. Alternatively, for less HDR effects, you can set ISO low. But DLOG is king for now. I think they went overboard with the “13 stops of Dynamic Range”. That’s just HDR. On my GoPro 12, I turn off HDR or I get the exact same issues. BTW, the pocket 3 (which I have and love) had similar issues of overblown highlights and overexposure upon first release. They (mostly) fixed it. Fingers crossed, they’ll fix this. Firmware needs to up the bitrate, fix this weird permanent“HDR” in normal 10 bit color mode (or give option to turn off like on GoPro and Ace Pro). They also must improve the AI on Supernight (which is not good at the moment…it’s WAY over-sharpened) and they need to improve overall performance in low light, without tweaks. This is an EXCELLENT camera, especially in DLog. And with scene specific tweaks. Let’s see if firmware can fix some of these issues so we can “set it and forget it”.🤞 PS: DJI responded to me and said it’s coming and to keep checking their website. They know they released a camera that had issues. Just like the Ace Pro. They fixed it finally. DJI just has to listen. They will! PS: The user interface on the DJI is WAY BETTER than the GoPro. Fast, never overheats, responsive and the OLED screen is insane. It’s worlds better than the GoPro to operate. Especially as a dash cam!!!!!
Very impressive! It will be interesting to see if they tune it on the next firmware update! Im curious as to whether or not you have put the same effort in with the hero 12 to see if you can further enhance the out of the box image? I have been having an issue where about half the time, when the battery dies on the action 5, I lose the file I was recording. IT becomes corrupt. This really bothers me as I love taking time lapses and I cant always be there to stop it. Drives me nuts! Another issue I had is that I noticed the first day using the camera, there is a dead pixel on the display. One awful red pixel. I call it the Devils eye. I have tried to exchange it with Visions Electronics where I bought it, but they refuse to do an exchange. This is within the 30 day window, and I am quite upset that they dont stand by their product, however I am not quite finished with them and Im hoping to win this. Im also hoping the memory glich is a one off for this camera (like I got a lemon), and if it does get replaced the problem will not continue. Otherwise I like the interface, battery life and quick charging.
Can you give the location name?
thx a much btw
@@bryavuz this in canada, Saskatchewan!
But what about the size of the files??? I understand that dash cameras have the ability to record only the event you want, which saves a lot on memory card.
@@guimarotta I loop my recordings at 5 minutes. This only keeps 5 minutes of footage on the memory card. You simply save any clips where something cool or significant happens.
Dji is way too yellow and looks plastic. The gopro looks far better and real life.
@DannyFyffe I have to agree that the dji looks artificially enhanced. While they do a good job with it, I do prefer the colors and real life look to the hero 13.
@@thejauntingape I have not seen anyone do a comparison like this. So it was shocking to see the GoPro that most put down looking so superior in every shot on your video. Thanks for showing reality.
@DannyFyffe it's been driving me nuts how many creators are action pro biased. They actually got me, that's why I bought the action 5. But I had to buy the hero 13 as well and see for myself. Thanks for the comment!
@@thejauntingape I appreciate your honesty. I don't get influenced by influencers. I watch their videos, but rarely believe anything most of them say. I then wait for honest people to come out and show things like what you did and the difference in the 2 cameras is astounding. The influencers of course doctor the footage and make the GoPro look tepid, but then your video comes out and shows they were messing with the footage to show who is paying them. in all cases, dji is doing that IMO. So again, I appreciate your integrity.
Also what NOBODY seems to mention is that the Osmo Action 5 does NOT HAVE 1/48 shutter speed. It does have 24fps but not 1/48. So inhave to use 25fps with 1/50 shutter speed now. Maybe this can be fixed wothba simple software update.
