Great talk through on weight and choice Ben and when you weighed stuff at the end I was flabbergasted at the weight.. I would consider the 7kg pack to be UL.... then I realised you had not included food, water and clothing which adds considerable weight to any trip - so maybe an overall kit weight might have given a more realistic amount you would expect to carry. My lightweight rucsack is the Osprey Exos 48 whilst the bulkier carry is the Kestrel 48. I ditched my bigger litre bags sometime ago as I found the bigger the bag the more you will try to pack in to it - and the heavier it becomes. regards Alan

Doing a full pack out with everything was something we considered doing for this video (and maybe watch this space...). We decided against it with a focus just on some of the core pieces of equipment that will have the biggest effect on the overall pack weight (apart from water). Ben's pack would've had an extra few kilos just in snacks if we'd let him.
Two good packs there that cover all the bases. Limiting yourself to 48L is also a great shout, any more and we'd also be tempted to fill it, it can soon get away from you!

Really interesting, especially the weigh in.
Could you do a link/typing out of the products in the description so we can search for them
