Thank you for posting this! I'm pursuing amputation right now and my story is similar to yours in the sense that I started off with an average injury (torn ligament and some bone fragments) that has now snowballed into 8 operations over the last 4 years. It's reassuring to see that someone else also had to make the decision to amputate and has been thriving because of it!

Good luck with everything! I go in to my Dr to tell him I need my leg gone I'm in pain 24/7/365 with it, and they can't do anything more. Some of my back story is I was hit by a car back when I was 12, and that messed up my left leg. PT don't help I've been on pain pills but went off when they didn't work and I was afraid I was getting hooked on them. Besides my husband and I want to take a few fun trips but with the pain they're not fun. So my husband backs me on this too. I've been in pain with this leg for over 30 some years now. I've had 11 surgeries on my left knee and #11 was a total knee so they have to take mine above the knee. But again good luck Joanny!
