I noticed it had been raining. I (like some others) have been up there during an incredible rain / thunder / lightening storm. exciting to say the least. I was thinking the other day about how our Dad would take us to "The Point" every summer. Dad has passed on now but thanks to him I'll have those memories with me until I don't know my name anymore. Thx
I went to Cedar Point a ton as a kid in the '80s. This brings back so many memories (Especially the footage of Gemini!). Edit: I'll have to look, but I did bring a video camera on Gemini some time in the 90s.
So cool! Reminds me of the stories my dad would tell when he went to Cedar Point and Kings Island in the 80s. Pirate Ride, Space Spiral, and Earthquake look so cool Cedar Point needs a dark ride again
thank you for sharing this with us! hard to believe those skeletons and stuff on the train ride are older than I am...a lot of that stuff has been around longer than me.
The coaster in the video is the Wildcat. It was moved to the middle of the park in 1985 to make room for the Avalanche Run. The Jumbo Jet only operated from 1972-1978.
That's right! My bad. I forgot Wildcat was there after The Jumbo Jet. They looked very similar from Space Spiral. Wildcat was moved in 1985 to make way for Avalanche Run.
Nice stuff! I have 1964 8mm. 2:20 & 7:45 I loved that sunken riverboat. How Indians ever set it on fire with rifles is beyond me lol I think you can still see wooden posts that held it up next to Mine Ride. 3:56 I'm glad Boneville hasn't changed 5:43 I told my Dad one of these days they're gonna fell the Space Spiral with explosives lol (not really) 7:07 I loved Sky Slide. 7:40 when it rained hard the optical sensors would set the guns off noon-stop lol 8:10 politically incorrect Indians lol
I love to see the way the parks have changed over the years. I just could never imagine a job as an attraction tour guide. I'd rather die. Just being stuck on a ride all day saying the same thing over and over and to faint enthusiasm. Yuck.
Thanks for sharing these memories! I miss the old Pirate Ride and Earthquake.

That's about the last time I was there! Great old memories loved the river boat ride

Thanks for sharing! Brought back some great memories for me!
CedarPoint was 100x more fun at night as a kid!!
Nice! I visited there mostly in the late 1970's (very similar to this movie), so great memories. Loved CP then, and even more so now!
Thanks so much for posting this! I had a Super 8 camera back then, too, but no sound. This is great!!
this was great fun - thanks for including one of my faves of all time - the Rotor!!!! :)
Wow, this brought back memories. Thank you for sharing!
I wanna go back to ‘84!
Very cool, My dad filmed Super' 8mm sound film of Disneyland and Knotts Berry Farm in the late 1970s an early 1980s

I'm setting a reminder through a comment to go to 2:35 and wait for "I SEE THE SLIDES JEFF!!"
It was better then, even with the greatest ride of all time Millennium Force now.
@mycoolhomevideos Not sure but I think it was Kodak Ektachrome. I also used Kodachrome then so it could be either one.
When i went on the train(went to CP for the first time for Labor Day 2016) they didnt have a real fire for some reason....that would of been so neat.
what type of film did you use ?
Do you have any of the carousel back when the band organ played?
Squeaky whistle on that Train engine at 4:01
What was the roller coaster right next to the space spiral??
That is the Jumbo Jet. It is now at Chelyuskintsev Park in Minsk.
