Hi guys! My name is Sammie & I am a homesteading wife, a homeschooling mom & a granny.
We live on a 10-acre small hobby farm in Oklahoma, we have 7 children with 4 still at home. We grow & process a majority of our meat supply & grow an organic garden which supplies us throughout the year by growing & preserving.
We are also blessed with many wild edibles growing on our land to forage, eat & to also use medicinally ~ I show you how to harvest, use & preserve some of them.

Thank you so much my friend. 🥰
***Also, last time I made it, I used 5 cans of milk and 1 can of water. It was sooo creamy and delicious.
I would imagine if you used Condensed milk, you'd use less sugar???
@gracemarcantel2217 Definitely a great point. Thank you. Have a beautiful weekend, my friend.
Seems like my grandmother put sweetened condensed milk in hers and I can't find the recipe can I use two cans of evaporated milk in two cans of sweetened condensed milk

I made this ice cream, and this is the best homemade ice cream I have made ever that you don't have to cook on the stove top. This is my go to recipe. I am done looking for different recipes.

Thanks for the recipe.
I used to make my ice cream and milk shakes with raw eggs until I got a bad case of food poisoning.
I now cook my egg custard at 175 degrees F temperature to kill harmful bacteria.
My Pleasure. Yikes! Sorry to hear that and I absolutely do not blame you. Have a great weekend my friend. ~Sammie

Hi there! New friend here; thanks for visiting me earlier!! Your video definitely brought back some wonderful child-hood memories for me. My Dad used to pull out our electric ice cream maker every now & then and make some delicious ice cream. It was all good!! And I remember the luscious, creamy taste even though that was over 60 years ago for me! Homemade ice cream is THE BEST!!! Take care now!
Awesome memories! Where are you? come over for some ice cream! lol..... I agree with you, It Is The Best! Thank you for visiting my friend.
I'm in central Florida now but I am originally from the Midwest. I was born and raised in Kansas; spent my teen years and young adult life in Minnesota; moved to Florida about 25 years ago.
Yum!! It has been SO LONG since we made homemade ice cream! We used to hand crank some gizmo that my Dad made with salted ice and a tin when I was a kid. 😅 No fancy ice cream machine for me when I was little, we worked hard for that treat, Haha! I love good thrift store finds too! Oooh that looks good and that giant cupcake is so fun!
lolol.... Same girl. We took turns sitting on top of ours to keep it steady while the other cranked. It seemed to taste better because of all of our hard work. This gizmo is easy peazy. lol. It stays on my counter during summer. Do you remember snow cone machines that we had to turn the crank too??? Ours was a snoopy one. Well, we now have one that you plug in. IT'S WONDERFUL. haha.... It was so fun making those snow cones.
@@bluefeatherhomestead Yes!! I loved snow cones too! Fun time! Such good memories!
Lol! Looked like so much fun with the kiddos. That was a great find on the cake plate. What an adorable cake mold, I would have never thought. The things they come up with today is so cool. My friends have an ice cream maker like that and that was our desert for as fish fry they had a few months back. You are right, it was amazing and she used raw eggs in her recipe too! Thanks for sharing Sammie, good to see you. xoxo
Thank you my sweet Debbie. I know right?! I looked up to make sure that you can really bake that thing before I did. I guess I should've looked at the instructions but it turned out fine and was really good. I LOVE that .50 store. The kids actually wanted to be in the video! That makes me happy. 😁❤ love ya & we will catch up soon. Xoxo
@@bluefeatherhomestead You're welcome! Love you! xoxo
Great video 👍🏾
Thank you. 😊
Sure looks good. I love that you used farm fresh eggs...but I gotta admit. I have never in all my country born days wanted to eat raw eggs. its just me. my husband even loves "runny eggs" for breakfast. I may try this but slighty cook the milk egg mixture. Thank you for sharing. I am a new subscriber to your channel.
😂 this made me laugh. My mom will NOT eat eggs period. Lol. Your husband sounds like mine. He likes his sunny side up. 😳 You are awesome. Thanks for your comment that made me smile & thank you for your support.
مرحبا.

Did you have to boil the mixture?did you chill canister?
No, you just mix it up and pour it in. The ice and rock salt chill the container.
Great job on the ice cream. I don’t have an ice cream maker so I am trying to find ways to make it without one. Thoughts?
Thank you! I know that my grandma had another ice cream recipe that she used that did not require an ice cream maker. Let me check into that. I want to say it was chocolate. Like maybe she used chocolate sweetened condensed milk.
@@bluefeatherhomestead cool thanks!
@@YogiHollowFarm Omgosh.... I had the best time digging through grandma's old cookbooks. I never found it though. Lolololol..... BUT I found the recipe that I was visualizing her making. Or I should say found A recipe that looks the same. Might be a little different. I thought she used chocolate sweetened condensed milk but here it is:
2 cups cold heavy cream, whip with beater until stiff peak forms.
Add 1 can 14oz. Sweetened condensed milk &
1/2 cup cocoa powder
Beat in those 2 ingredients on low until blended.
Pour into a pan (I think a loaf pan but probably doesn't matter what you put it in) cover with plastic wrap and freeze for at least 6 hours.
@@bluefeatherhomestead oh gosh! You didn’t have to do all that! How sweet! Thank you so much! I need to try this! I took a screen shot! Thank you!
@@YogiHollowFarm Oh no, I'm the one who needs to say thank you. Seriously while I was digging through the cook books I was thinking I've got to thank Lisa for that question otherwise I wouldn't be going down this memory lane. Loved it & love you.
How much rock salt? Or does it matter?
I think that I have used a whole box of it before. It makes it colder. I add ice and salt to the ice many times while it's churning. It just depends on how fast the ice is melting.
I’m concerned, don’t raw eggs contain salmonella?
As a kid...when we get sick , we drink whole chicken egg,,so far I'm still alive... home grown fresh eggs is the best
I'm not sure how I missed this, but it is an excellent question & concern. From what I have researched, 1 egg in 20,000 may be contaminated with salmonella. If a person is infected with salmonella, they could experience diarrhea, fever, abdominal cramps, headache & or nausea/vomiting. I use our farm eggs here but have also used store bought for ice cream recipes. 🍦 I have also read that you can mix your ingredients minus the eggs. Heat it on stove to 160F and then add your eggs, that, this temp would kill any harmful bacteria. Thank you for the great question & I hope this helps. ~Sammie 😃
So don't use eggs 😢
