Sooooo....no tempering of your eggs? That's incredibly cool. I'll try that this evening on my New Hampshire homestead. Thank you for being so informative, funny, and of course, kind. Exactly what this world needs right now.
Lori, I try to watch every video you publish and I’m never disappointed in them. You and Mr Brown are just like neighbors, only hundreds of miles away. ♥️
Lord have mercy, the memories came flooding back. I remember this as a child. My father owned a fruit and produce business so we were blessed with a bounty of fruits and vegetables all the time.🍑🍓🍍🍉🍇🍒🍎🍏🍌🍐🍊🍋🍅🥒🥦🧅🌽🍆
Thanks for the good memories. I've told y'all this before... when I was little daddy would put a few folded burlap sacks over top of the old crank ice cream maker & I had to sit on it to help hold it down while he cranked it. Not bc I was heavy but bc I was the youngest & my hiney didn't get in the way of him turning the crank. 😂🤣😂 xoxo
As a little girl we had the old fashioned wooden crank kind. Mom would take it to the back yard & all of us kids would take turns cranking. The end results were wonderful & we had great fun.
Oh Ms Lori, I searched everywhere for this recipe like my Mom always made, before July 4th. My kids had come home and I had bought a new ice cream freezer. All that's out there all made with heavy whipping cream, which I used and didn't like, so thank you so much. I can't wait to try it, I'm like Mr Brown, I can't help eating way too much. You guys stay safe and cool, blessings
Just like my mother made! I live in north Mississippi but I’m familiar with Pollard and Piggot, Arkansas since my aunt lived in both of those towns. She lived to be 107 years old and my mother, my sister and I visited her 2 or three times yearly. We loved going to flea markets and antique stores on our trips to visit her. I loved driving through the Arkansas delta and then arriving in the hills. Very similar to where I live.
Danny and Lori, this has been my favorite ice cream all my life! But from now on, in the cottage, it is known as the ovation Beethoven ice cream!!! Love Cee 💚💚💚🍀🍀🍀
as a new subscriber, i just wanted to send a thank you for your content...I find your videos so soothing to my spirit! I appreciate all you and Mr. Brown do to bring us into your home for either a learning experience or an uplifting message for our spirit...you guys are rock stars.....
I simply love you two, wish I could catch you live, the notifications are not working for me. Thank you for all you do, I am recently retired and am following in your footsteps
Thank you so much, We cant do live where we live, the wifi is awful Just go to my homepage, unsubscribe, then subscribe and hit the bell, that might help, xoxoxo
This looks so wonderful! We also loved your Buttermilk Ice Cream and have made it more than once! Like you and others, I have great memories of my Dad crank churning ice cream on the farm. It was the BEST! In the 70s, I purchased a Salton ICE CREAM MACHINE MAKER Model IC-4 and it takes no ice at all. It churns by sitting the entire little machine into the freezer, the cord plugs in, and the door always shuts and seals around it. I have never seen another model like it, but have purchased like new ones since on eBay. It works so well and I don't know why they don't make this type anymore. You can hear it running through your freezer and when it's done, it shuts off automatically. It only makes a quart at a time, but it's so nice to not have to get ice or freeze something ahead of time and place in the machine. Even though I love it, I love when people use the old-timey ice cream churn just to recapture the memories. The Amish still do it like that all the time (my ancestry is Amish) and it's always good to have a non-electric ice cream churn as a back up. I will trying this recipe, too! Thank you!
I remember going to the ice house and getting a chunk of ice and sitting on top and churning all different kinds of Ice Cream. I hated churning it but I loved eating the ice cream. I remember the ice cream was ruined if you got any of the salt in it. ✌🏽?💖
Looks good. High-speed countertop blenders also work well for making ice cream. We had the old-fashioned, hand-cranked, wood bucket ice cream freezers when I was a child. Too stiff for us to work when the ice cream froze, one of the strong neighborhood men would help to empty the heavy metal cannisters. The large; cast metal dashers were always mine when Mother's fabulous ice creams were finished. They were begged for all year long and she made several flavors to go with her fabulous cakes. Years ago, ice for the home freezers was sold from trucks that drove through our neighborhoods in blazing hot summers. Blocks of Diamond brand ice were bought from machines at local gasoline stations. They were used constantly to make ice for the big red Coca-Cola coolers we loved. Never more than a dime for glass Coke bottles dripping with ice water. Fun stuff from the Good Old Days. The cord for my favorite Waring electric ice cream maker was lost in a move during Mother's long illness several years ago. I kept the working machine in hopes of finding a thrift shop replacement for the cord. The machine, no longer made, is a motorized version of the wonderful old-style wooden ones that required ice and rock salt to freeze their metal canisters. It makes gourmet-quality ice creams and sherbets.
Old Fashioned Homemade Custard Peach Ice Cream!!!! YUMMY!!! ❤️❤️❤️ Y’all are good cooks and the best presenters! What can I say I just love y’all to bits. Love everyone out there. Hope you all doing well. Stay Safe and Healthy. Thank you all for coming into the Brown’s lives. Aren’t they the Best! I know I’m so glad God put them in my life. Spread the news about them, you’ll never be sorry. Young and old, they have something for all. My 5 year old granddad just Loves Ms Lori. God Bless You All! XOXOXO ❤️🦋🧚♀️☀️🌈
I love homemade ice cream. Such good memories when it comes to homemade ice cream. Mrs Brown you have rekindled my interest in making this wonderful treat. Thank you and God speed.
I love the way you smile with your eyes. Mr Brown is a hero, all that taste testing. You remind me of my Grandparents farm from the 50's in Gloucestershire UK. The dishes that my Gran used to make, traditional fayre. But taste that doesn't come out of a packet. I had the good fortune to live outside Naples Italy for 3 years, when there was much poverty in that part of Italy. But oh the food, the lessons I learnt and was reminded of. Food fresh from source and on the table. Most good food is uncomplicated. One particular favorite was scrapping small shellfish from the beach sands and 10 minutes later in a pot of pasta, some herbs and Spaghetti Vongole. Thank you for all your video's, you are a beautiful couple - well maybe not quite Mr Brown. Keep smiling, keep safe.
Oh the memories of my momma and Daddy's homemade ice cream we had the crank kind and was it ever so good I sure miss those days enjoy that ice cream Mr Brown it sure looks good but you better share with Ms Lori what pretty wife you have God Bless you both enjoy your evening🍦🍧🍦🍧🍦
Thank you Ms. Lori and Mr. Brown. Stirred some beautiful memories. And thanks to you I do remember this recipe my Aunt used on the farm for her ice cream. This is gonna be a great summer we have been looking for this recipe for awhile. Stay cool and stay safe lots of love from Mtn. Home Ar.
My ice cream maker suggests starting it up before adding any of the ice cream ingredients. Otherwise, it might start sticking to the sides and he difficult to start. Yours is probably bigger/stronger than mine because it didn't seem to have any trouble starting for you. It looks delicious and is exactly what I was looking for. I'll be making it Monday for July 4th. In some ways, I wish we still only used the hand crank ones. My kids never experienced that. It was so much fun when we were little to be able to help make the ice cream. Of course, Dad always had to finish, but we "helped"! Such great memories of a time long gone. Bless you both.
When I was young this was the kind of ice cream we always made sometimes it was just straight vanilla then during the summer would put strawberries peaches one of my grandparents favorite was banana yummy
Every 4th of July my Mama and Daddy made this. We would always beg to help churn it, then get tired. We would go to Oklahoma during the summer, and they would make it again. Soooo good. Thank you for memories. I heard you talking about apricot fried pies in another session...my Mama made rhose, too. We kids would stand around in the kitchen waiting. Those were the good old days. Wish we had everyone back, sure do miss them.
I remember taking turns with my brother and sisters turning the crank on our icecream freezer. The one that was turning the crank when it got so hard that it wouldn't turn any more got the first scoop of icecream. The best icecream ever.
We used to fight over who was going to turn the crank. Many memories of my childhood at my Grandmas house. Thanks for the video. I'm making your sandwich bread recipe as we speak. About six minutes and it comes out. God bless you and Mr. Brown.
I love peach icecream. Have you ever made Butterfinger ice cream?? Long ago Butterfinger candy bars came in only one size. They were about 5 -6" long! Put your candies in a plastic freezer bag and slide the lock or zip the bag. Next beat the candles with your rolling pin. Or whatever? ?? Add the candy bits to your cream base, stirr well and freeze the ice cream in your ice cream freezer. You need very little sugar in the base. Use about four or five regular size. Candy e bars.
The best ice cream ever ! I remember cranking the ice cream crock at grandma and grandpas my arm would hurt. My brother and I would fight over the icey salt lol
We used to do that in the crank freezer out in the yard in the summer. Tasty memories! We rarely had leftover to put in the freezer though. And I love your elevator music!
My Mom always made a custard ice cream, when I was a child. It brings back memories of hand cranking that machine on a summers day. YUM Another great video, thank you.
Seeing you making ice cream makes me yearn for summer. I'm in the south coast of England, it's the coldest July on record.. I almost lit my wood burner at the weekend it was so wet and cold! Love the recipes, keep them coming.... 😎
Thank you for this recipe. When your husband said there is nothing like a woman with dirty fingernails I cracked up laughing. You both are so funny. I will definitely try this recipe.
Who are those people in the black and white photograph? That's been something I have been wondering about for sometime. I don't have an ice cream maker. But, I have had homemade ice cream once as a kid, and it was fresh peach! It was the best ice cream I've ever had.
My oldest brother would get snow and make us some ice cream from that. (We couldn't afford ice cream cranking machine). But back in the early 50s, that was yummy and we didn't worry about any contaminants. It was so good. We would eat so much, we would get headaches. 😅. Your version looks so much better and I bet it tastes better, also. 😉 Blessings 💕 👍
I loved this video, and the ice cream you made looks delicious! As for fingernails, I just want to mention. Years ago when working at the family store, a male customer made a comment about my nails, saying I should'nt "chew them". I kindly informed him I don't chew them. I keep them short because I am always working in the garden and yes sometimes they do get stained. What they see is'nt dirt, it's staining from hard work in the kitchen & gardens :-) Sometimes people don't understand it unless they've lived it. Have a blessed day!
Waking up and watching this delicious custard ice cream recipe video makes me want to buy an ice cream machine and make some ASAP. Thank you so much for sharing your recipe with us and as always God Bless you and Mr. Brown.
My friends and I use to have a drinking party when I was in my early 20's and made homemade ice cream. They had a hand cranked one, we all took turns turning it. Your receipts are making me virtually gain weight. Better than physically. Lol
We love ice cream. That is exactly the same recipe we use. It makes the best ice cream. Thanks for sharing. It’s perfect weather for ice cream right here in South Texas.
Oh man, your custard ice cream looks so good Ms. Lori. Now I have to go buy me a Ice Cream Maker lol. Homemade ice cream is my favorite. I got so tickled at Mr. Brown sitting there waiting on his ice cream lol. Thanks for sharing this. Much love to you both. God Bless Y'all. Hugggggggs.
Did I say yummy yet? lol Howdy again from Texas! I do not have an ice cream maker so off to the store in the morning for some Blue Bell lol you are the 9th wonder of the world lady! Mr. Brown is one lucky man who lives in Food Heaven lol
I always shy away from making custard because of having to temper the eggs. I’m always scared of making scrambled eggs... lol. I’m going to give it a try. Be blessed.
I just ordered one of these Cuisinart makers after watching this. We have the one that you have to fill with ice, and I never mess with it, but this I would absolutely use. I cannot wait to make this recipe because I just know it’s going to taste exactly like my grandmas, and I haven’t had it in 25 years. We used to eat it it up so fast it didn’t make it back to the freezer!
I love the end of this video, Miss Lori. You look young and pretty! You're such a good cook, too. I'll say it again: Mr Brown is a very lucky man! I purchased an Instant Pot after seeing your recipe for short ribs of beef. Oh, Lawdy! Gotta have those Bob Evans mashed potatoes, too, and something green like green beans or okra or spinach, etc. Ummmmm ummmm
Sooooo....no tempering of your eggs? That's incredibly cool. I'll try that this evening on my New Hampshire homestead. Thank you for being so informative, funny, and of course, kind. Exactly what this world needs right now.
The flour will stabilise the eggs so they don't curdle.
Thank you so much From the Hills of Arkansas!

I’ve been looking for an old fashioned custard ice cream recipe. My aunt used to make it and it was delicious!
This might be worth crawling up into the attic for that old freezer. So easy!
😂🤣😂 xoxo
That's so funny, good memories, xoxoxo
Mr Brown looked so funny sitting there waiting very patiently lol!
As a little girl we had the old fashioned wooden crank kind. Mom would take it to the back yard & all of us kids would take turns cranking. The end results were wonderful & we had great fun.
Ditto!
@Miss Un-PC Yes I remember putting the rock salt in as well. We didnt use eggs either.
What a good recipe! Thank you for sharing it!

I have been so hungry for ice cream. I bought ice cream salt yesterday in hopes of making some this weekend.
Just like my mother made! I live in north Mississippi but I’m familiar with Pollard and Piggot, Arkansas since my aunt lived in both of those towns.
Marillyn sounds yummy 😋
Oh yumminess!!!
The best ice cream ever ! I remember cranking the ice cream crock at grandma and grandpas my arm would hurt. My brother and I would fight over the icey salt lol

What a warm a fuzzy lesson. Thanks from Florida!
Lol!! You guys are so silly!! I love watching you!!
Remember home made custard ice cream from my youth. This looks as good as I remember!
I loved this video, and the ice cream you made looks delicious! As for fingernails, I just want to mention. Years ago when working at the family store, a male customer made a comment about my nails, saying I should'nt "chew them". I kindly informed him I don't chew them. I love peach ice cream and I can remember my grandmother making it. Thanks for the flashback.
Many years ago we made this at virtually every holiday. Sometimes added fresh or home frozen peaches. Thanks for the memory jogger and the recipe.
That ice cream looks delicious! I'm gonna try this. I just got a small ice cream maker, and didn't have a good recipe.
Sounds delish! Love your glasses, by the way!
