Honestly the fact that your channel is so much more interesting than the "entertainment look what I did" channels is what has held my attention for about 6 years ...considering I have ADHD thats a pretty bloody impressive record. I once played around with an aquarium full of water trying to work out the best way to place decorations. I put some poopy muck in it from an active fish tank (like your turtles) then directing the power filter head to circulate around I moved rocks about to see what happened to the dirt. I was surprised to find dirt in front of rocks as well as behind them and in certain areas just sitting in the middle of the tank bottom. It was a fascinating experience that could give a good idea of how gold settles Thanks for sharing Mr Chris ..another fascinating look into how creeks work.
Awesome Possom TalRohan! I have been keeping fish most of the time since 1990, I have noticed the same thing many times and have used this process to make the mulmy muck settle in a fashion that makes it efficient to vacuum out Most recently in my 125 gal tank, that has a fine black substrate I have been having " Zen Focus Clinics," playing with powerheads and river rocks.
@@insolentstickleback3266 the Zen stuff sounds like fun. I dont keep fish anymore unfortunately but I once built a tank with a silver sand substrate, that would literally grow small dunes when the water flow was too high. My experiments were with the Dennerle system seeing if there was an efficient way to set up for mulm removal. I worked for the guy that first imported the system to the UK back in the 80's and made quite a lot of advances with him and the system through feedback with Ludwig Dennerle. I miss the fish and the plants to be honest.
Potato Jacket 😂 mate love your videos and I'm nearly ready to head off on my 1st proper trip to prospect. Thanks for all the knowledge you are passing along on the videos you make.
Love your videos bro! Really enjoy you content and personality. I'm a crazy rock hound and prospector, so that river sounds like a dream! Cant wait to try that kinda pan. Looking forward to your next video!

I really appreciate that you did this video, Chris. It is another opportunity for those who are interested in prospecting along with the history and knowledge necessary to do it properly. Like you said many times before, there is so much more work and education into prospecting, than just walking out into a creek and finding gold everywhere. Blessings from Alabama ❤️
Excellent back-to-basics on reading waterways, Chris. Add to this comment that we'd rewound to the start after reading and liking numerous comments and replies, it's a good on you, and the audience that interacts with you, and decorously with each other from all over the world. Fair dinkum bonza vibes all round. Cheers, you.
As someone who started prospecting for the first time this summer, I appreciate these videos so much. Some of the other channels definitely make it seem like if you look literally anywhere you’ll find gold. This is more what I want.
I really enjoy seeing POV style. Its always good because I like hearing the thought process. Since I have some troubles located good areas in my state.
This vid gave an interesting insite to your thought patterns and how you rationalise (boaderline ague with yourself 🤣) while you are on the creek to work out where you going to dig next. Awsome vid thanks

Just a thought, it may be more complicated than, but if you kept all of you concentrates after you removed the gold; you could potential have an income of $35k per year just from the tin. Could you make a video on that? Maybe an average of how much tin you get on a day of prospecting and how long it would take to get a ton of it.
I think you’ve said before old timers did super sluice on hill side .. at the bottom of those would there be higher concentrations of gem stones or they be to smashed
i watch all your videos Chris, even though i have no intentions to ever do this?! a teaspoon of the local honey a couple of times a day will help the hayfever.
Another informative and fun video to watch, Chris. But it looks like a couple patches in your pan - Oh no! How did you crack it? Night dredging perhaps? 🤪
Your work is great mate, and the reason I have travelled to Reedy many times, to try my luck. I had some success, and have also enjoyed purchasing your paydirt, and nuggets. I even became a patreon, because your work needs support! I'll be returning to Reedy very soon, but this time to shoot a short horror film. Out of interest, has there ever been anything out there that has freaked you out even a little bit? Love your work Sir!

Definitely need to look up, learn and understand the basics of the difference between gemstones as you call them and minerals
Some gemstones are pure minerals, others are more mixed up. The definition of 'gem' , though, is something humans value or find attractive, so....
How deep into clay should someone dig if they find a layer? Just scrape off the top couple inches or centimeters? Or more dig in a good solid chunk?
Usually the top, test into it and see what's there. Make a choice off that

I've considered it. The main problem is concentrating it down to mostly tin, there are a lot of other things in the black sand.
