So glad you're doing more Stylistics songs. They have been my favourite group since the first time I heard them back in the early 70's. It was one of those times where everything just came together perfectly. One of the best composer/arrangers of all time, a brilliant lyricist, and the most perfect falsetto voice. Listening to them is pure magic.
Russell Thompkins Jr. (front left) has one of the purest falsettos ever!!! Philly was loaded with Great Falsetto Singers and Groups! My Generation 69-78!
@@JamesBond-ib9tqI like how you put that. I was just telling my grown daughter how I loved the 70s when men sang falsetto. She knows it’s true as she’s been listening since she was but a girl, she’s 49 now.
On 10/15/1971 from Philly International Records produced and arranged by the great Thom Bell. "You Are Everything" by the Stylistics made its debut. And became a monster hit. I was a 17yr old junior in high school and we all fell in love with them and the Philadelphia Sound that took over the airwaves in the 1970's. Besides the Stylistics the Philly International Records had in their stable of artist groups like the great Delfonics, Blue Majic, Harold Melvin and the Blue Notes with the late great Teddy Pendergras as their lead singer. The Three Degrees, and many more. The Rabbit Hole of the groups and single artists from Philly International Records runs very deep. You cannot go wrong in delving into the Philly Sound that dominated the 70's.
Slight correction: Stylistics were on Avco Records, not Philly International. I remember the orange and purple label on those old 45’s when I was a kid.
When I was a teenager there was a radio station that played the Sylistics for an hour every evening. My boyfriend and I would get on the phone, turn on our radios, and chill out to this amazing romantic music together.
Oh Wow! Childhood memories! " Today I saw somebody, who looked just like you. She walked like you do. I thought it was you." My Mom LOVED the Stylistics. PEOPLEAKE THE WORLD GO ROUND. Lyrics still meaningful today.
This is one of the few songs I remember loving as a child back in 1971. It made me feel some kind of way as a 5-year-old back when, and it still makes me feel some kind of way as a 50-something today. Big respect to composers Thom Bell (RIP) and Linda Creed (RIP), and the fabulous Stylistics. Love your channel Shawn and Mel, keep up the great content and reaction videos.
Love The Sylistics! Grew up with them Cool and the gang, and Stevie Wonder as much as Pink Floyd, ACDC and Queen due to my parents..that was their music! My father played their songs with his band in the '70s and '80s when I was a kid..one of his favorites! The greatest times ever 🍀
The song was released in 71, but was popular through out the 70’s. This song reminds me of a girl I was crazy about in the 6th grade, her name was ‘Penny’
They don't write music like this anymore, that's why I keep listening to the 60's 70's and the 80's all really good music, music that I listened to as I was growing up. Makes you feel so good listening to the melodies, harmonies, the music and the well written songs. These 3 decades were the Renaissance of music as far as I am concerned, there is nothing better and will never be anything better.
YES I JUST LOVE THESE GUYS FROM THE BEGINING LOVE THEIR BEAUTIFUL MUSIC MR. RUSSELL THOMPKINS JR. My Golly Wow (1972). 5. You're Right As Rain (1972). 6. Payback Is A Dog (1972). 7. I'm Stone In Love With You (1973). 8. Children Of The Night (1974). 9. Let's Put It All Together (1974). 10. @@ShawnandMel4Life You guys are very welcome. This song was written by composer Thom Bell and Lyricist Linda Creed. The song writing duo of Thom Bell and Linda Creed wrote most of the songs for the Stylistics the Delfonics and many more artist. Please go down the Rabbitt Hole that is Thom Bell & Linda Creed. Blessings to you both.
I believe that so many of the people doing reaction videos are finding out that music is a universal language, we love one another, pull for one another and believe in each other. It’s just like being on a professional sports team. No matter our background, ethnicity, religion etc. they all pull together and believe in one another. They are all wanting to work harder and do better when they are not successful and they are all thankful, grateful and exuberant when they succeed, all together. Music does the same thing and I believe that’s how the vast majority of Americans believe. We want to pull together, work together and love each other. Some may be struggling but we are on the same team and willing to work and pull together and some have had success and we can rejoice with them believing that they won’t forget those who are struggling. The Rascals: people got to be free
Diana Ross & Marvin Gaye sang this together ! The Album of them together is great ! ❤ Next, Break up to make up by the Stylistics PLEASE I'm laying here in my bed....singin' 🤭
I have always LOVED the Stylistics. This is such a beautiful song. I would love to see you react to “Betcha By Golly Wow” by them. It’s really really good!
Thanks guys! I'm constantly conflicted as to which decade had the best music, the 70's or 80's. I love the 60's as well. Either way, I'm just glad I was blessed to live during it.
If you haven't listed to Barry Ryan "Eloise" please give it a listen. I have not heard anyone make the suggestion for this song. It is an epic, classic song from the 60's. Can't understand why no-one has listened to it yet! You won't be disappointed if you give it a try and listen to it!

Philly was absolutely killin' it in the early 70's! Some of the best R&B ever produced!!
When a man brings out the falsetto you know he means serious business.❤
Wow these guys are awesome. They have some of the most amazing voices we’ve ever heard. Love the falsetto

We absolutely love it
The 70's was the best music!
The stylistics in the Chi-Lites were beautifully here in the seventies I'm 69 years old and still have their albums

I’ve never figured out what is about a man singing in a woman’s voice that makes ladies get excited. But thankfully it’s worked for over 50 years😝

Hey Jen, we’re so honored to react to this amazing music. Going to react to your suggestion soon, thank you😀
Love these old Motown songs!

Wow Mike, that’s awesome you experienced all this amazing music
Popular music at its best!!😊
Another of those songs where i can probably sing it near word for word, but couldn't tell you which group it was.
Love this next song You make me feel brand new
The Stylistics are responsible for a baby boom❤️😅😅
lol 😂 so true
The Styalistics are a fantastic group
We agree
For something a little different from the Stylistics, try "Rock & Roll Baby".
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Remember when Mary J Blige redid the song "My Everything" when she sings "you are everything and everything is you..." at the end of the chorus.
I love that song as well
Ray, Goodman and Brown “ Special Lady”
