Grandma's beautiful vintage black blazer - find a theater group to give it to. Then she will live on in the theater and the jacket will be seen by many.

Sophia, Michele’s advice is spot on.
Also the green vest really brought out your pretty eyes.
“Stale casual” is not you, but it’s clever and so funny I will use it in future and give you credit for creating the term.

I really enjoy your channel, Sophia. Try the Dressing Your Truth system for the right colors and styles for you. It's incredible! If you're aiming for a capsule wardrobe that is you, you, you it's the way to go. I can finally open my closet or even think about what's in my closet and feel happy instead of frustrated, confused, and overwhelmed.

If you want to keep grandma sweaters, even though they don't fit. Make pillows out of them. So you see pillows every day on your bed and think about grandma.

One trick i learned. Turn your hanger backwards. Once you wear something turn that hanger around. When you are ready to get rid of clothes, any hangers still backward are the ones you are not wearing, so they are the ones going out. I have Salvation Army come to my house every other month.
Can't wait to see your closet transformation.
    Tfs.

If you really only want 10 outfits in your future wardrobe, you can pick your 10 favorite outfits from your current closet then get rid of the rest. That’s how Dawn from the minimal mom has started doing her closet and it makes more sense to me. Instead of picking clothes to get rid of, pick your favorite pieces. It’s a lot easier.

I think it would benefit you to buy some basic neutral shirts with no patterns since you have so many vests/ cardigans. It could be your “uniform” for winter. Everything is patterned so it is hard for you to find matching outfits.

Deep bold colors for you. And for your body type I see clothes that are close fitting. (Not tight) Straight leg trousers, a long blouse in a beautiful plum color with a belt over it and a long duster type sweater. You are tall and can really carry a long line. A pair of ankle boots and you are ready for the office, home visits and off to watch the band! I truly think the sweater vests make your midsection look larger. If you want to keep them try a belt over them and a boxy jacket over that with dark wash jean trousers.

I've recently come to the conclusion that our clothes should be defined by our lifestyle first. I don't go out so I don't need fancy clothes no matter how much I might think I need them I don't get the wear out of them. I'm being more honest with myself and considering what I actually do on a day to day basis, not fashion or media telling me I should look like such and such. I want to be comfortable, practical and to look nice in clothes/styles that actually suit me! I've also stopped keeping clothes for 'best' because they would often remain in my closet unworn for ever and then be donated because they no longer fit. I can get a specific outfit if the occasion ever arises such as a wedding/event. I'm sick of wasting my money! I try to think about colours and what makes me happy when I wear them and ditch the ones that make me feel bla!

Your favorite shrug would look great with a good quality plain black turtleneck .
Rich deep jewel tones I think look best on you. I loved the red coat on you. It would look great with a pair of dark blue jeans or black jeans.
Plaids, pastels and large prints are my least favorite.
You did a really good purge!

I have an urge to see you wearing more classic stuff. Dark chocolate and deep jewel tones. Nothing with signs or ads, or big images. You don't need that stuff, you have a rich style that comes across with your personality. Black, navy, khaki and dark jeans. I think you should get tanks to match. And stop hiding! Nothing boxy or that isn't fitted. It can be soft and colorful like an over blouse, or a soft denim long sleeve shirt, but you are too vibrant, the grays and oatmeals are meh,try mustard and camel? Plum and burgundy? Perfect. You are a polished gal pretending not to be! Rock it Soph.

Gosh I remember when you did the huge closet purge a few years ago before your France trip. You had a few glamorous outfits that you let go. It's hard to let go but the streamlined closet feels good too. I'm inbetween sizes so it's so damn hard to purge.

I did loads of colour and style analysis things over pandemic as a stress reliever. My favourite is Carol Tuttle's Dressing Your Truth.
I 100% recommend it. She has four 'Types'. One is not supposed to tell others their type as it is a process of getting back into your own energy instead of what other people in your culture/family/friends/Instagram tell you you should be! With that said I think you are probably the Type who is best wearing thicker textured, substantial fabrics with colours that have a deep jewel or dirty earthy shade to them. The type of colours that go with bronze. Animal print is good. Strong looking things that aren't too softy or wishy-washy, but not stiff, minimal, overly formal or too smooth or too plain either.

I’ve noticed you tend to wear a lot of autumn type colors but those look best on people with ruddy complexions. I agree with the other people who have said you have winter coloring (think jewel tones) and colors with more of a blue undertone. When your held up purple shirts next to your skin, it looked great. Also, if you group like colors together in your closet, it will make putting outfits together much easier. Lastly, if you can have all the same type of hanger, your clothes will hang on the rod more easily because the shapes fit together and won’t get caught on each other.

This is what I'm hearing you really want. 22:24. One of your favorite things. Historical Fashion. Those ruffles around you looked perfect for a French lady. A midi/maxi dress would be very nice with a ruffled shrug (in a coordinating color). It can be a basic dress and not look like a costume at all. Shop for vintage fabric or historical fabric from thrift stores. I think you would look so pretty. Get a practical pair of boots to contrast the feminine dresses and for comfort. You can even wear tennis shoes with dresses nowadays. I don't think trousers were even a thing until the 1960's for women. We managed for all those years. Do it! You know that's where your heart is and you only live once!

Just a thought…you never hesitated to save your sweater vests and open front cardigans. If it were me, I’d just buy coordinating blouses or turtleneck sweaters to wear under them with a couple of coordinating slacks or jeans, and call it my work wardrobe. Re color, just figure out what colors look bad on you and weed them out. Some might look better than others but radiant happiness and confidence art the best colors of all.

I don't want to give another annoying suggestion, but I like putting my hangers on the bar backwards and then as I wear and put things away, put them back the right way. Not only does it make it obvious what you aren't wearing, but it can help you cycle through wearing all the things you forget about but actually like.
Also, if I ever put a shirt on and decide it's too ugly or uncomfortable, I immediately throw it in a donate bag, don't put it back in your rotation!

Jewel colours, rich and berry tones suit you. Beige and lighter tones of grey wash you out however white looks good (suits most people). Some neutral pieces are needed to round out your wardrobe, in black, navy, chocolate brown, white and warmer tone oatmeal to wear with your cardigans. Can you wear jeans? I think some dark indigo navy jeans would compliment what you already have but some don’t find them comfortable.

One technique I am using is sorting and storing tops by color, which shows how many are in each color group. It's easier for me to realize which ones I wear often and which ones not at all and pare down the closet that way. Green is not your color, although the dark green quilted vest looks good with your skin tone. I also think the more subtle and small patterns look best.

  • @CJ-bs7zl

I think blues, pales, beiges and taupes wash you out. You need a warmer colour palette to suit your skin tone and eye/hair colour so warm browns, reds, burgundies, rich purple and violets. Even russet gold or orange.

Sophia, I think asking your viewers for fashion advice on what looks best on you was like using "ask the audience" on Who Wants to be a Millionaire.... not necessarily helpful. While I know everyone is commenting with the very best of intentions, you need to ask an expert. As I already commented earlier, I strongly suggest you try the Dressing Your Truth system. This will simplify your clothing struggles. It is fine that you don't really like clothes, but I guarantee you will feel the benefits of dressing in the colors and shapes and styles that enhance your unique beauty. Your wardrobe doesn't have to be extensive or complex but you deserve to know that everything in your closet is serving you well. Personally, I think it is a blessing to our families and the world when our clothing and accessories highlight our inner beauty, just as we would choose a frame that does justice to the picture it holds.

I had my colors done once.(the woman gave us a discount because we got a group together.) I am an obvious Autumn because my best color is gold and mustard and jewel tones. Also because of being large busted I now only wear jackets without lapels and never pockets or flaps on the chest. What a game changer! I’m also loosing weight (24 lbs down and only 124 to go)😖 but since I’m in my sixties,I will NEVER wear sleeves shorter than 3/4 length. (no one wants to see that)😵😵‍💫 My favorite style is the “Ralph Lauren casual elegance” so no more large and loud prints. Anyway, the result of all of these “ABSOLUTES” is that decluttering and shopping have become soooooooo much easier.

Make yourself a 10 dress uniform that go mid calf to ankle length and call it a day. You can garden and everything if they're long enough to squat and kneel. Then you can pick a basic pattern. Get some cute boots to go with them. You can use wools, cottons, linens and not have to invest more in fast fashion. Wear merino wool long underwear under them in winter with cute sweaters and boots. Kind of a laid back cozy and comfy vibe. I think the jewels tones look best on you with a vintage fabric vibe. Laura Ashley with a modest, higher square neckline and some slightly puffy sleeves (not too puffy) is what I'm picturing. Slightly Romantic, modest and vintage, yet practical enough to wear everyday and look amazing. Your ruffled shrug was the inspiration for this post. Let your hair go gray and embrace the natural aging process. Good Luck and Have Fun! ps. Check out William Morris Fabrics for colors and patterns. You could get a vintage chifforobe for this wardrobe.

I just don't need them, as we don't go anywhere too special and I work in a Charity shop and wear practical clothes for work. I don't need to wear anything too smart. At least your wardrobe is colourful. Mine is virtually all black/grey/navy. Talk about dull. But, I do feel comfortable in dark colours, as I do need to lose some weight. I have recently separated the clothes I wear for work from others, as I ride my bike to work and can only wear loose skirts or trousers. This really helps me get ready.

Maybe add some grays for a neutral. I'm in the same state of mind that you are with not feeling like clothing is that fun anymore. Comfortable fabric and a few nicer outfits is good for me. I don't need clothes for work anymore. I recently decluttered my closet with my sis. I was definitely in a mood to get rid of most of it. After this video I think I'm ready to declutter more clothes. Thanks for your inspiration.

I also am not a fashion girl. UA-camr Erica Lucas found out what colors work best for her and you can see it was well worth it. Everything in her closet now looks good on her. Problem is I can’t remember how she found out what colors suit her….

I agree you look great in the leopard print. Just take all the colors in that piece and only have items in those colors. Solid black solid grey solid tan. You always brighten your outfits up with your makeup and lipstick which is always awesome! Keep your clothing simple. A burgundy, red or burnt orange colored accessories once in a while is good. I think fall colors are best on you. I think a lot of us are doing the same, trying to keep it simple, spend less time thinking about what should I wear?

You look good in cool tones, black and white. No yellow, olive, brown with yellow, yellow beige. Steer clear of warm tones Navy is good and cool tones of red. We are attracted to colors that look good on us. I think what is left of your wardrobe is good. A color that doesn't suit you will accentuate circles around your eyes, lines and wrinkles. etc. Those colors will make you look tired.

Keep it chic, simple and well fitting. I think some plain basics and jewel tones and generally 'less is more'. I'm aiming for the same thing as I've worked all my life in a navy nurses uniform. Newly retired, I'm having a hard time time finding my style.

If you use thinner hangers that would help with space.

Oh Sophia, honey. I do hope you read old comments (bet you don’t, 🤣), but you are soooooo a Deep Autumn. Deep, warm colours. The deep magentas and purples. Eggplant. Bitter chocolate, deep sea teals, deep greys, deep salmons, golds, russets, mustards, pewter, blood reds, wine reds… i’m watching all your videos, in order (and loving them, and you) so I will be very curious to see what you choose for your capsule wardrobe, which you must have chosen by now. Bless you. Loving your channel!

I think you should create a uniform / capsule wardrobe for work first as this is where you spend the majority of your time, a couple of pairs of trousers, 5 or 6 plain coloured shirts , 3 plain coloured cardigans and a couple of jackets/coats that can be mixed and matched. Then concentrate on your weekend wardrobe. Plain not patterned clothes will mix and match easier, check out Diane in Denmark, she uses the system dressing your truth and she always looks well put together and she is in her 50's. Also in the meantime layer your summer tips with cardigans to extend the life of your clothes. Love your videos, it is like spending time with a friend x

Sophia, I think peacock blue and periwinkle are your colors! So proud of you for weeding out the clothes that don't look good and don't make you feel beautiful! If you hang everything right side out, you will be more likely to choose it.

Hi, dear Sophia. I love the flowered plum/white flowered shirt under the shrug. You didn’t seem to like it but I thought the colors were beautiful with your skin tones. The jewel tones really cause your eye color to pop. Your whole face glows with those colors! Enjoy! Your red winter coat is gorgeous. Enjoy!

keep the red for winter (and use it!) and sell the black sequenced.

Sophia, it was interesting watching you hold up the different colored clothing. The ruffled shrug was beautiful on you. The red dress coat was also stunning. Do you think you fit into the cool (or clear) winter color palette? In my opinion, the muddy browns and muted grays don’t compliment your beautiful coloring. When you do find your go to colors, you will feel totally put together no matter what you choose from your closet. You made the comment that navy blue looks good on everyone, but, each palette has their own version of navy blue. You also made a reference to beiges. The same applies to beiges, each palette has its on version of neutrals. I struggled with my colors for a long time. I am a soft summer - and when I figured out my neutrals were deep, deep almost black navy and charcoal gray it was a turning point. My palette has colors that are shades of gray. You on the other hand need bright clear colors to compliment! Remember it is what you wear around your face that is important. You can sort out your pants and skirts slowly as you are upgrading. But, shirts and sweaters come first. Good luck on your journey to find the true you! I loved this video! And just a heads up, you may not like the green carpet, because it is not in your color palette, but, Scott may love it because it is in his color palette. Home decor choices sometimes have to be a compromise. We tend to decorate our homes with the colors we love. I think back to your beautiful Christmas ornaments, both on your tree and in your dining room, they have all of the colors of a cool winter color palette. ❤️

I think you look best in jewel tone colors (purple, burgandy, dark green, etc). Stick to black for your pants/leggings; they're slimming and everything matches. I tend to shy away from most prints because they're harder to mix and match. I also think you look good in off white. Btw, I also have a stale casual wardrobe!

Great job Sophia! I should do same but I hate going to my closet hahaha I think leopard print looks amazing in you!
Also why don’t you build the walking closet in your attic ? The one between shower and stairs? You can do a big walking closet with storage ! Just an idea

One thing I do at the beginning of each new season is turn the hangers the opposite way. At the end of the season whatever is still turned, I must not have worn. Why didn't I? Those are the things that I get rid of. Then I have room for the stuff I enjoy and if I need any new items. Also, organize you closet by like items or colors. I organize mine by color. That way I can see how many I have of that color. I tend to buy lots of beige. When I see just how much I actually have, it makes me rethink buying something else in that color.

Just my 2 cents, but I would buy movable clothes rack and have matching hangers (whichever hangers you like the best) so it looks more cohesive, since Scott is not on board with the closet yet. I have been watching you for years and I still love your channel.

I think your closet is nice J think what’s throwing it off is the unmatched hangers. Even same color cheap classic ones I think it will look and feel more beautiful and not an eyesore. Just an idea 💡 But I love all the decluttering.

No to the peacock blue, no to the navy blue. The purples yes as long as they stay warm like your favorite one and not too blue. No green either. You want your skin tone to shine! 💜
You do know your style, you put that pretty ruffle purple sweater on and you lite up and said this was your style.
Invest in good basics, then add and keep the fun things that make you happy like that ruffle.

You seemed happy with what you picked out to keep! It’s enough! Wear them & enjoy,, less is more.
Comfort is for Our age. Wear your red coat everyday, see how you feel. In my eyes its normal not too dressy!
If in don’t wear again then decide. I thought the autumn colours warmed you up, black, white & dark blues
Killed you....... Loved your open comments, thats how we are. I stopped buying along time ago, I have enough
In the wardrobe to mix & match Just like you do...... no stress.

Find out if you are warm or cool base. Red looks great and plum, neutrals and green very blah.I changed my hangers to black velvet and never looked back and the clothes stay on better as well. Those wooden hangers take up way too much space.

Love the plum would wear a black tee and black pants with it and I would pick a colour out of the check shirts and team them up with jean or black pants. Wear plain clothes with a pattern cardigan or pattern top with plain cardigan xxx

I love the deep tones on you the plum and rust ❤️
Sophia would it be an idea to buy a wardrobe like in Europe and place it over by the balcony for Scott as he needs less space and you have the whole closet you just sorted but jazz it up and get matching hangers and maybe make some lovely style heavy curtains in a beautiful feel fabric and pattern. You really don’t need a walk in if you have so few clothes. You could really make something of that space and it would feel great being all yours 💕
