I'm watching this video and my husband wakes up, looks over at my screen, and says, "Is that lady still cleaning her house???"...... I thought you would get a good laugh at that comment! :) I love you!
As always, I have enjoyed our visit. We both have passed on a few cookbooks. I never thought I'd thin my collection. I did. Now I treasure the ones I kept more than ever. Feels wonderful.
Great job Sophia! I have found in the past few months of decluttering, that shuffling things around is just part of the process. I am wondering if you will rethink putting the door back on the cabinet where you moved your countertop appliances to. The first thing I thought of was dog hair. I have cats and anything on lower shelves normally end up with a fur blanket on them. Maybe you could set it up like a little barn door and it could slide to the right when you need to get in? I know that is something you could do with your varied skill set! Love your videos!
Sophia, I loved the look on your face when you found that all the cookbooks were going to fit in that cupboard. Nice to get the small appliances off the counters. Once you get used to the clear space, you'll probably love it. Cheers
I collect antique cook books, recipe boxes so I have several I have found at antique stores. Do I cook from them? No. Do I enjoy looking at them? Yes. I can't bring myself to get rid of them, especially the hand written recipes. Someone's grandma wrote those recipes out so I feel they deserve a home. Even if it's my home and I don't really have room for them😄
1 like for all the cooking books in the cabinet! Go Sophia! I remember the amount of cookbooks you had to begin with. Knowing you I belive you will downsize them even more by the end of this year. So proud 👍
I actually love those little drawers for your tea! It gives the kitchen a cozy homey feel☺️ and it looks nice and gives you something you use all the time to put out and your counters don't feel so empty 😄
Hi Sophia, I was so glad to see the canning jars. Please show how to clean them and can something so I can learn. I have had a case of jars for a year and want desperately to learn about canning. B)
Yes do love those chairs! They match my kitchen table set I got at Pier 1. I keeping looking in Facebook marketplace to see if anyone is selling them. However we never even sit at our counter anyway.
Filipino here! I'm glad you like it. Been a subscriber for several years now. Enjoyed all your cleaning and decluttering videos! Your house has really improved through the years. Was surprised by your recent declutters. Never thought you'll get rid of those things coz you've had them for years!! Watched you moved them in different locations. Looking forward to more videos. 😊
I 🤣😂 cracked up as well.. the excitement on her face when she got all the books to fit...now, she has no where to put the tea😂 she's such a beautiful cheerful soul..she's my favorite youtuber❤
Great. Love your joy at being able to get all your cookbooks put away! Confession time. I have been an avid follower for years. After your last video I decided to actually do a doc around here. Mind going a million miles a minute. How to set up, jar, linear? Decided linear. More direct, no set up time. Did front closet and entry way. Even inside of front door. Closet was really bad. Even got rid of 4! Daddy long legs spiders!! Hoping this go round will eliminate them all together as I clean the spider webs, and empty egg sack. Yuck. Thank you. My desk in the living room is next. Horrors! Lol. I even got hubby to REALLY clean out my vacuum! Works so much better!!
Kitchen organization was great! Tea drawer suggestion - how about on one of the pull out drawers in the pantry? They can stay in those cool drawers just on the pull out shelf. Just a thought.👍
I love your solution for the cookbooks. When I had my kitchen remodeled 15 years ago I had an open cabinet made just right of my stove, as yours. That's where my cookbooks go. I also have my beverage station (tea/coffee) corralled in one area, as you did. I think this is the best you've done organizing your kitchen. We all should reassess our kitchen flow and usage periodically and rearrange accordingly.
I love how you adapt your kitchen as your needs change! Cant wait for the planner flip through……that was the first video of yours that i saw and i subscribed on the spot all those years ago. Great song at the end by the way xx
I'd swap the windows and extend the overhead cupboard across and down to the floor in the corner, like an appliance garage! Then you can grab appliances out and put on your peninsular whenever you want, I'd add extra power points too. Diy, as you are an expert cupboard builder now!!
I agree Vietnamese food is alot lighter than Chinese food. I love both. Im glad I'm not the only one changing things back to the way they were when we moved in 11 years ago lol. Tfs & take care 🌺 🙏💝
Re lighting, there are now motion-led battery-operated lights you can stick wherever you'd like. I have an older kitchen and have placed a couple under cabinets and a couple on shelves.
Actually, now that you have your own merch and shop and everything, how about you make your own cook-Book? With your favorite recipies from america and france, own recipies (thinking about your casserole or Scotts Chili 😊). Also, I am very curious about the historical recipies of america. And Scott can Illustrate it 😀 I would sooo buy That Book!!
Yep, you've done a fantastic job , over the years, whittling down your many cookbooks!! I remember when that under the bar area was completely filled with cookbooks !
I would put the door back on the cabinet with your appliances to keep the dust out. These are the ones you don't use alot, I believe. You have to move the chair anyway to get to them. Byeee!
Put your books in with your other books That is what I did and all I have to do is go to my regular bookcase to get one of my cookbooks. This allows more room for kitchen things in my kitchen cupboards.
I love how organized you have become. The kitchen looks great, and roomy. I also try to declutter my counter tops and it feels cleared, but I fine I get tired of bending and lifting my items to use them. So I leave them on the counter top.
This is just a suggestion. Mark recipes you like with small check mark. Mark recipes you don"t like with a small x. That way when you declutter in a year. It will give you a quick idea which cook books are being used and may help declutter others.. The food at restaurant looked amazing.
You are doing a great job of decluttering and organizing. Sometimes it is just a matter of moving things around to get better function from our spaces. Loving your DOC series. Due to the fact that I am a very boring and plain eater I only have English breakfast tea, regular and decaf which I keep in a stainless steel canister, part of a 4 piece set (flour, sugar and 2 tea canisters which stack 2 together on the counter). I have a very small kitchen, no pantry and little counter space. BTW I love kitchen gadgets, dishes etc. Haha. Being you have two Spice of Life glass canisters/jars maybe you could put tea in them and put then on the open semi circular shelves at the end of your cabinets and maybe you could put the extra teas in a small tea bin in your pantry.
You have let go of a LOT of cookbooks since I started watching you years ago! I was surprised to see you get the ones you kept in that cabinet. I didn't think they would fit. I love those bar stools, by the way.
Clear kitchen counters is a win any day!!! 💕🎉 We have so many “necessary” things on our counters but I try to keep things at a minimum. It’s a never ending struggle. 😎 Everything looks great! It’ll be especially helpful heading into the holiday season. 🦃🎄
Sophia, I’m a Cantonese, the Dim Sum “tapas” look authentic and I’m surprised you enjoy the chicken feet, we call them “Phoenix claws”. Have you tried their tea that goes along with Dim Sum? That’s the tradition, and it functions to degrease the food after consumption, healthier for us. I like Vietnamese food, not oily, pho for cold weather and the cold vermicelli for warm days. Their price is reasonable too, similar to Los Angeles, Asian food heaven outside Asia.
Lol you know I’ve been dedicated when I see the cover for that Christmas book and know you will keep it because it has your Christmas cookie recipe in the back! You have some wonderful memories making them with William!
Wow! American taste buds have changed. I remember when chicken feet with dumplings was poor people's food. Now it is main stream cuisine. Maybe the tea can fit in the box that you wanted to discard.
I like your kitchen. It feels cozy. I'm trying to make mine feel that way. For the tea, you can put them in a rectangular shaped basket on a tray next to the pot.
No stickers and decorations in the planner! That will be perfect! So many times planning and organizing is swapped for decorating. I would much rather see a method. I can always add decorations if I want. You can use post-it notes or something else to cover private notes if there is something to show. Looking forward to the next video.
I would love a video showing a typical day of eating, specifically your time schedule. I know you eat later than I do, and I'm wondering what are the pros and cons. How long is it between lunch and dinner? Do you build in a snack? Is it hard to clean up after dinner if you are tired? Do you eat breakfast later because you ate dinner later? That kind of thing. I feel like my schedule is not working for me. Thank you.
😱 I just thought of something for your Simplicity teas! The problem was that they were just slightly too tall for the those tiny kitchen drawers.... if you look at the top of the bags, the part that's making it tall can be torn off, and the seal is still there! Voila!!! :D I HOPE THIS WORKS!! 🤓
You mentioned that you burned your tomato sauce. There is a trick to saving some of the sauce. Do not stir but pour the unburned sauce into another pot because it is usually just the bottom of the pot that gets burnt the rest of the sauce should be good.
I was going to say, I bet your cabinet teas will work in those tiny kitchen drawers! Nice! :D I have the same problem with cookbooks.... One time I took a cookbook put a tab on the recipes I would actually try (diff colors for different types of dishes), and that helped me get rid of one book... and the skinny/pamphlet type ones, I just took a pic on my phone for the couple recipes that seemed interesting, and got rid of the books. Hope this helps, or sparks an idea! :)
What do you frequently use your air fryer and pressure cooker to cook? I do not own those items but am considering getting another small appliance to change up my routine menu. I use a George Foreman grill, toaster oven and crockpot often. I would put the cookbooks in one spot in a bookcase that's in your basement. I have one recipe binder -- a huge 4" one -- and recipes are in clear sleeves. Maybe tear out the recipes you like from the books, put them in a sleeve and have everything in one binder that you could keep on top the fridge. ? I have dividers in my binder arranged by category: Beef, Pork, Chicken, Casseroles, SlowCooker, Veggie Salads, etc. I reference it every time I make out a menu and grocery list. Edit: Good spot for the cookbooks!
Can you put your tea in the cabinets above your coffee and tea pots? Too bad the drawers next to your dish washer won't work. I know you dislike those drawers.
If you aren't putting the tall chairs back (in front of the new appliance shelves) Could you put a short (not too deep) bookcase under the window across from the open appliance cabinet for the cookbooks? Or a small bookcase on the end of that cabinet? Frees up your cabinet :) Maybe not... it's a tight fit, isn't it :( or move them on a shelf into the Dining Room? Great Job!
I have the same idea. Just thinking the books now is taking the “prime” real estate in the kitchen. At my home, that’s the cabinet for things that I grab all the time while cooking. Just a thought.
No you are not weird! I have 0 cookbooks too! I got rid of them several years ago. I never use them. Yep I just google it but mostly I just cook simply no recipe needed. I did have some cooking magazines but I also got rid of those too recently 👍
You need better, more comfortable chairs or at the very least, add cushions. What is the bin on the stool for? No one can sit there. Put the tea with your coffee, why have two places gor hot drinks? You could make a tea/coffee station on the counter by the windows. Could be really cute!
I'm watching this video and my husband wakes up, looks over at my screen, and says, "Is that lady still cleaning her house???"...... I thought you would get a good laugh at that comment! :) I love you!
I remember a few years ago you were counting the pens you found in your home, it was a lot. I can relate. 😂
As always, I have enjoyed our visit. We both have passed on a few cookbooks. I never thought I'd thin my collection. I did. Now I treasure the ones I kept more than ever. Feels wonderful.
I had to laugh when you pulled out that Moleskine notebook and after a short, pregnant pause breathed out the word “nice.” My sentiments exactly.
Great job Sophia! I have found in the past few months of decluttering, that shuffling things around is just part of the process. I am wondering if you will rethink putting the door back on the cabinet where you moved your countertop appliances to. The first thing I thought of was dog hair. I know that is something you could do with your varied skill set! Love your videos!
If you have a scanner you could scan the recipes you love out of the cookbooks and make a digital cookbook, then sell or donate the physical books.
Gosh, if you hadn’t found a bunch of pens, how would we know we were watching My Great Challenge 🤣
Best comment!
Sophia, I loved the look on your face when you found that all the cookbooks were going to fit in that cupboard.
Nice to get the small appliances off the counters. Once you get used to the clear space, you'll probably love it.
Cheers
Why not get Scott a tea maker, and put that and his tea in his office, like you said? Since you share the office, make a tea bar for both of you.
Great declutter your facial expression when your cook books fit n your shelves was priceless. Ty for sharing
We’ve got my mother’s old Good Housekeeping cookery book from about 1957. It’s one of our most used and trusted ones.
Hi Sophia you can put those teas in that nice box you got rid of. I thought it was pretty 😊
I collect antique cook books, recipe boxes so I have several I have found at antique stores. Do I cook from them? No. Do I enjoy looking at them? Yes. I love the kitchen. Its beautiful.
Can you put your tea in your pantry? Looks really good 👍

Good job! I literally LOL’d when you did the first turn around with that WHOA look on your face after fitting all the cookbooks in the cupboard.
Your street finds are amazing!
Best kitchen reorg!! Been happily watching you over the years...always fun and inspiring.Thank you! xoxo
I'd swap the windows and extend the overhead cupboard across and down to the floor in the corner, like an appliance garage! Then you can grab appliances out and put on your peninsular whenever you want, I'd add extra power points too. Diy, as you are an expert cupboard builder now!!

What about the box you got rid of for all your Tea subscription???
I love your D.O.C. Series !

I would sooo buy That Book!!
There are wall shelves for tea, cookbooks, etc. Different widths and heights.
Yep, you've done a fantastic job , over the years, whittling down your many cookbooks!! I remember when that under the bar area was completely filled with cookbooks !
I love your kitchen. I love your house. Always have.
Loving the DOC series 💕💕

LOL The "Get Wild" song made me laugh. =D
That's a great job Sofia your kitchen looks great
I put my cookbooks above the microwave. I am editing my comment to add that you did a great decluttering the counter.
Your kitchen looks great! The countertops will be so much easier to wipe down with appliances put away😊
Love spending time with you ❤️
Sophia your face “where am I going to put the tea” classic 😂🇦🇺
Great job! Slow down a little on buying tea and drink what you have hahahaha.😍
Put your books in with your other books That is what I did and all I have to do is go to my regular bookcase to get one of my cookbooks. This allows more room for kitchen things in my kitchen cupboards.
The leopard print top looks great on you. I keep my 3 cookbooks in my kitchen cabinet, very handy and keeps them clean .
You done a great job! I love where you put your appliances and cookbooks. I could watch these kind of videos all day.
I love how organized you have become. The kitchen looks great, and roomy. I also try to declutter my counter tops and it feels cleared, but I fine I get tired of bending and lifting my items to use them. So I leave them on the counter top.

You are so funny. Great time with you
Have a bunch of cookbooks. I love them all can’t part with them I also put them in one of my cabinets. Great video

Filipina subscriber here. I smiled when you said that Filipino food is also good. Thank you😊
How about putting the tea in the colourful box you just pitched?
You have let go of a LOT of cookbooks since I started watching you years ago! I was surprised to see you get the ones you kept in that cabinet. I didn't think they would fit. I love those bar stools, by the way.

I always order tea, I think they serve oolong.
Lol you know I’ve been dedicated when I see the cover for that Christmas book and know you will keep it because it has your Christmas cookie recipe in the back! You have some wonderful memories making them with William!
Is there room in the pantry to make room for the tea drawers? The kitchen looks great!

I am so impressed with your cookbooks....I remember back in the day!!! You have come a long way!! Great job! Looks fantastic! 😉👍❤☕🫖
I like your kitchen. It feels cozy. I'm trying to make mine feel that way. For the tea, you can put them in a rectangular shaped basket on a tray next to the pot.
I used to eat fried chicken feet when I lived in the Dominican Republic; absolutely delicious.
You did a great job🙂
Could you put a shelf on the stairway leading to the basement, under your pictures, for the cookbooks?
I felt your pain with the cookbooks , at one point I has over 180!! The decluttering was painful.but. I did it down to 35. I think,
What about making the counter above dog kennels your tea bar?
No stickers and decorations in the planner! That will be perfect! So many times planning and organizing is swapped for decorating. I would much rather see a method. Umm I think the shelf you put in is backwards. The raw edge should go in towards the back? 🥴 right?
All edges are raw

i take a photo of the one recipe i love out of a book then let the book go ...
Great job! 👍
Use that wooden box you were throwing out.
I LOVE YOUR ACCENT & DISH SETS. ARE YOU GIVING THEM AWAY? IF SO I'LL BE GLAD TO TAKE THEM.
ALSO YOUR APPLIANCES & COOKBOOKS TOO.

Great video. I love Vietnamese food. That restaurant's food looks good.
Just convinced me not to shop for a small appliance on this holiday. Counter space is real-estate!!
I really appreciate you 😊
Great video!
I keep my tea bags in a glass candy jar with a lid....
What do you frequently use your air fryer and pressure cooker to cook? I do not own those items but am considering getting another small appliance to change up my routine menu.
I use a George Foreman grill, toaster oven and crockpot often.

In the air fryer we make fries, cook frozen veggies, chicken tenders, corn on the con. Pressure cooker I use for soups and stews.
How about the cookbooks into the pantry and the tea back in the cabinet or vice versa 🤷♀️
Can you put your tea in the cabinets above your coffee and tea pots? Too bad the drawers next to your dish washer won't work. I know you dislike those drawers.

Could you put a short (not too deep) bookcase under the window across from the open appliance cabinet for the cookbooks? Or a small bookcase on the end of that cabinet?
Frees up your cabinet :) Maybe not... it's a tight fit, isn't it :(
or move them on a shelf into the Dining Room?

I have the same idea. Just thinking the books now is taking the “prime” real estate in the kitchen. At my home, that’s the cabinet for things that I grab all the time while cooking. Just a thought.
Ami weird? I have 0 cookbook.... Love cooking, and I use Mr Google and UA-cam.
No you are not weird! I have 0 cookbooks too! I got rid of them several years ago. I never use them. Yep I just google it but mostly I just cook simply no recipe needed. I did have some cooking magazines but I also got rid of those too recently 👍
Yes got rit of more than 100 coockbooks 1 year ago. Mr Google is my big friend. Sorry for my English.Greetings from the Netherlands.
@@geertje188 wow! Kudos!
I really think you should move the stools out so you can free up the space to move around back there. Do you have somewhere else they could go?
Oh! Are you going to do any holiday cooking videos or vlogmas this year? No pressure at all🙂
You need better, more comfortable chairs or at the very least, add cushions.
What is the bin on the stool for? No one can sit there.
Put the tea with your coffee, why have two places gor hot drinks? You could make a tea/coffee station on the counter by the windows. Could be really cute!
I collect cookbooks
