Assalamu alaykum - I appreciate your clear videos, may Allah(swt) reward you. One part of tajweed that is very confusing to me and I've searched many hours without a response is how to properly pronounce the kasra. I'm not a native arabic speaker, so maybe it's hard for me to distinguish. But sometimes, I hear an "ee" sound in kasra (as in the word eat), and other times, I hear a soft "i" sound (as in the word sit). I know the "ya" gives it this sound, but I am not talking about that. For example - the word "kitab" when I hear it, it has a slight "e" sound from the kasra. However, a word like "min shari" - the "min" has a soft "i" sound even though it also has a kasra. Can you please help me understand this difference that I'm hearing.

walaykum salam. I wish to help but your question and examples are not clear... if you can rephrase and make it clearer with other examples then I can try to help...

@@MadeEasySeries I will try brother, please try to read all of it. So basically, my confusion comes with the kasra and the sound that it makes. I hear two different variations of the kasra. One is an "i" sound (think of how the i sounds in the english word sit). It is a soft "i" sound. Then there is also an "e" sound that I also hear with kasra as well from some people (think of how the e sounds in seat). This is a hard "i" sound.
When I am listening to people speak arabic, or read Quran, some words with kasra give it the soft "i" sound, and other times the words have a hard "i" sound.
For example the word "Muslim" has a soft "i" sound. But the word "Muslimoon" in the Quran has a more pronounced "e" sound. It almost sounds like "Musl-ee'moon".
But we don't hear that "e" sound when saying the word "Muslim".
Another example - if we take the letter Jeem, and give it a kasra, it makes "Jee". However, why is it that the word "jinn" doesn't have that "jee" sound? It sounds like that softer "i" that I mentioned earlier.
I hope it made some sense when I wrote it out like this. Honestly, it has been giving me a lot of trouble and confusion.

@@231doughboy Walaykum salam. I think I understand now..
Basically, remember that a letter with a kasra (a light 'ee' sound) is cosidered to be one Harakah, which just means stretch it to one count. So the word مُسْلِم we'll stretch the 'ل' with one Harakah. If we have a letter with Kasrah then after it is ي then its considered to be 2 counts, so we stretch it to a hard 'ee' sound. So the word مُسْلِمِين we'll make it the hard 'ee' sound when pronuncing the letter 'م' as next to it is a ي.
Likewise if a letter has a dhammah which produces a 'oo' sound, we'll stretch it to one count. So on the first meem of the word مُسْلِم we'll make it light 'oo' sound. If after Dhammah is a 'و' then we'll do a heavy 'oo' sound. So the second meem on the word مُسْلِمُون will have a heavy 'oo'.
Likewise if a letter has fat'hah its one count but a letter with a fat'hah and after is alif tjen its a heavy fat'hah.
I hope I understood the question and my answer was clear.

As salaamu 'alykum wa rahmatullaahi wa barakatuh.
Ustaadh one thing is clear to me is when we make idhar the tongue touches the roof of the mouth and in case of ikhfaa it's not. But if I want to compare idgham with ي and ikhfaa of heavy letter like ق. How do differentiate between idgham and ikhfaa?
I mean if I say ikhfaa is between idhar and idgham and I give example with
    إن هي
    من قبل
    من يعمل
How should I explain this mechanism?

    • @Qurann21
      @Qurann21 Рік тому

In idghaam, we dont pronounce the noon. We pretty much skip it so for the last one, you go from the م to the ي whilst reading the ي with a shaddah and holding it there to create a ghunnah. So it's like saying مَيَّعمل mayyy-ya3mal

If you can remember, next time you use the words of Duas (Mashallah, jazakallahu khayran etc) or salams, write it in full, that way you can get the full reward. As some of the scholars mentioned that abbreviations are not sufficient in earning the reward. Allah knows best.
