They do the same thing to other fandoms. Pittsburgh loves us so the negative press doesn't matter there. They only touch on it to help explain whats going on for possibly confused/concerned citizens, and to help dispel the rumors, which they did nicely here. Its perfectly okay. They didn't misrepresent us at all here =]
Good to see some positive coverage from the press, even if the guy reporter at the end just had to throw a little bit of the "freak" tone back into it. But yeah, good on the news station and the reporter for getting in and experiencing some of it and for doing an honest and unbiased job. And yay to finally be able to put a face to Garr! I didn't expect him to look like that, but he looks cool

However, I have to wonder why, even in the best of these reports and on the part of those furs who commented, there is no mention of the time effort and sheer talent that goes into making the suits or creating the artwork. It's such a great display of talent, yet very few seem to think of it that way.

Nobody's arguing that there's no sexual content in furrydom. The issue with media coverage is that it usually ONLY depicts the sexual side of the fandom, which leads people to believe the fandom is just a sexual fetish. That's like saying that football is just an excuse to showboat and intentionally hurt people. No, football is a SPORT, and SOME people who play it like to showboat and hurt people. Likewise, some furries only care about sex, but most treat the fandom like a harmless bit of fun.

XD However, I think it differs vastly from individual to individual. It would be limited to say that all furries are one way or the other. They're just like any other group--they're all individuals. They merely share a common interest. The extent and way they carry out that interest differs vastly, though.
