There are 2 parts to this replacement out drive series. Watch both. More than once...take your time... These are very well done videos. The SEI 116 was delivered on time. Looks great. It's on the boat and is working nicely. If you're not mechanically inclined...pay someone to do this job for you.
Thank you for making these videos and affordable units!
Correcting engine alignment involves adjusting the engine mount bolts. This job is a pain along with the bellows replacement.
Placing transum on a new boat
Never mentioned to line up the pin at the bottom of the sterndrive when installing it all together. WOW
Good observation
Can you explain it here please
The shift lever is in forward and he held the propeller pressure to keep the gear locked in forward. These two steps let the drive slide on. If the shift shift was not lined up it would not go together. He did a good job but I see your point.
Good video.
I am famiIiar with the early Alpha 1, not the Gen 2. If they are the same I'd suggest that you amend your vid to show the replacement drive shift shoe in the fore & aft position before reinstalling. A lot of first timers have forgotten that.

what kind of adhesive was that? And what happens if you dont have the alignment tool?
It’s interesting there is no mention of any of the continuity system wires, it’s integral to properly installing a sterndrive
Perfect video thanks
Just slid right in.
Nice job. Thanks.
Can the new upper unit SE116 be used in on the original lower unit?
fireman103 yes
It sure don't work that ez for me
where does the gear fluid reservoir hose attach too mine came loose and i dont no where it attached too
From the reservoir, it connects to the fitting at the transom.
easy when its all new!! lol
exactly, not even dirty or corrosion
Lol exactly my thoughts. I'm watching it like I know it's not gonna be this easy
I really believe if you are going to make a video of this process you really should use a unit that has time on it. It's not doing justice to make people believe it's going to just pop off that easy. Also, the install you said to line the shaft, another tool you didn't mention. Nor did you mention even hooking up the shift cable. You unhooked it, though you didn't show it. Not very good video. It's not real or thorough.
The shift cable does not get disconnected. The shift slide just stays with the boat when the drive comes off. And they do slide off like that unless something is wrong. The video shows exactly how to remove and reinstall the drive correctly.
Yeah it's funny having done this job now when you see the quick fade in fade out you know to add around 45 minutes of work and a few smashed fingers. I'd love to see videos like this with timestamps in the corner of actual elapsed times
Yeah what kind of adhesive sealant just RTV Black from Auto Zone?????
#2 3M weatherstrip adhesive
Whst about gear lube reservoir
What kind of adhesive did you use for the gasket?
not that it probably matters now but it is #2 3M weatherstrip adhesive aka gorilla snot
A heavy, dirty, greasy job, believe me...do not try it yourself! All Mercruiser dealers in our area are out of business...very few places left to get any affordable service done.
You can do it if you want.
Sorry can’t do China drive
