I sure didn't like loading the differential like that, but it just seemed to deflect the springs. Bought my truck right after you produced this with the ball stuck up. It had not been too much trouble yet. And I hear a 5th wheel with the right front replacement can go on these. Thanks for sharing something so practical.
For those that can’t get the pin to release. See if you have room on passenger side to slide a piece of round stock/bar that’s smaller than pin and punch it through. I recommend soaking it with penetrant then tap on it.
PB blaster works great at breaking through rust. I had mine flipped over for a year luckily lubricant & channel locks wiggled it out. Thanks for video.
I have had mine to get stuck several times over the years but the biggest lesson I have learned is to always keep it inserted with the ball up. Only turn it upside down when you need to for special occasions but then afterwards immediately turn it back ball side up. This way even if it freezes its still available for use. Nothing worse then needing to hook to a trailer in a hurry then having to work for an hour or so just to turn your ball right side up first.
I don’t keep the ball in the hitch when not in use. The ball is exposed beneath the truck and gets coated with dust, dirt, mud, whatever. I cut a wooden block that just fits into the hitch when I’m not towing.
i have something similar but with the oem puck system and bought the truck from dealer with a cut off gooseneck back stuck in there, was told them just place holders and i was stupid should of gotten in there and checked now need some hints to get the darn thing out

You're welcome

Yep, I don't remember being able to access it from the passenger side, but it should work if you can find the clearance
Thanks mine has been stuck for 15 years. I'll try all this.

I'll be tackling this project today. Thank you
Please post if you can do this without jacks and front loaders
Thank you for making this video. Very informative. Happy thanksgiving my good man.
Thanks for the tips man my dad took 3 years trying to get his out but we js got it in 3 hours
I just get a 4 lb hammer and pound it out from bottom and hammer upwards. Works every time.

😂 really feeling this comment after 10 hours, 2 broke homemade pullers and she’s still upside down.
@@cw-wj1vs There is nothing worse no doubt
Yep. I currently have mine stored in the toolbox. Will insert if I need it
Captain America to the Rescue! Thanks for the video!
Ha, you're welcome!
Had the hardest time trying to get this unstuck today will try this tomorrow
Good video, i had been wailing on it and letting it soak for days but this got it done in 20 minutes
Good to hear!
Mines stuck with the ball up right but I need to remove it to put a 5th wheel on the truck and and my release pin will not move
Thanks for the vid I thought i was the only one

I didn't know rust could be so difficult.
The problem for me is the pin is stuck lol

PB Blaster works a lot faster. I just did it with mine, also tapped with hammer like you did and used a pry bar on the lever.
PB is good stuff. Just had to use what I had at the time.
Thank you for the video. It really helped. Mine just the opposite. I feel like is harder to take off. But ill keep on trying.
Good luck! Hope it breaks free soon
Could clean the bed of your truck might make stuff quit rusting up so fast lol
I was thinking the exact same thing.
Thanks man. Great video
Thanks
PB blaster works 100x better than WD40 mostly because WD40 isn't a penetrating oil
I just took my rose bud torch to it. 🤣 5 min job. Never turning it over again.
Do my own oil changes at my truck yard do y’all think these ramps are a good hack to getting under the vehicle w some room to work
Works for me
For me it’s not the ball, it’s my latch it’s stuck, mine doesn’t even move when I try to pull it out…any ideas for that?
I'm sure you've already tried it, but I would attempt to spray it with wd-40 or some other rust penetrant. That's all I got
Be careful about snapping leaf springs when jacking the truck
Interesting, never thought that would be an issue but thanks for the heads up
ya just need a bigger hammer lol,,,, sidenote i have the same shoes love em ,,, thanks man
Pb blaster is way better than wd. Remember that.
I can’t even get my pin to pull all the way out lol
Uh oh, that's not good. I'm not sure where to tell you to start.
Mine is stuck... But the other way
Vinegar is a lot better than WD
