      Thank you for this! I work with non profit organizations quite a bit and it’s always a challenge to find solution that we can afford.
      Question: Does it allow you to temporarily zoom into a portion of your screen? That focus dot is too small for my audience who tends to have trouble reading small text.

    Sam! I have a follow up. First, LOVED the video - they're always entertaining and well done. Getting ready for BOY and excited to try out some of your material for my class.
    Here are two questions I have:
    1. how did you put yourself in front of the screen?
    2. how were you able to manipulate and direct your screen around the page in your video. I'll look for additional material on your channel videos.

    Hi, there. I am a biology teacher using Screencastify for the first time. I want to be able to write with more precision than the online tool provides. For example, if I need to write-out a genetics problem (Punnett square or an equation), I don't want it to look like a mess! My question is, can I use an external writing pad with this app? If so, please make a video on how to use it! If not, what do you recommend. Thank you!

      I don't have a lot of experience with this specifically b/c I'm a Humanities teacher, but my understanding is that EquatiO is a very popular digital tool for math that might help you here: www.texthelp.com/en-us/products/equatio/
      You could add EquatiO as a Google Chrome extension and then make your video tutorial. You also might want to check out an app like Explain Everything, which might be more in line with what you're trying to do: explaineverything.com/

I think the most important thing I found when I started doing it was writing out a bullet-pointed list of the key points I wanted to make so that I didn't end up rambling on. Hi Meghan, so sorry for the long delay in responding here. You can find your screencastify videos in a folder in your Google Drive called Screencastify. As far as showing two tabs at once, your best bet is to split your screen. You can use a screen splitter like Tab Resize to split your screen into different parts (e.g. halves or quadrants).

      You can edit with the free version, and the video length is actually only 5min for the free version. That being said, an easy work around to to simply make a Part I or Part II tutorial. Though if you are regularly making long video tutorials, it would probably merit purchasing the paid version (it's pretty cheap). I've only ever used the free version myself though!

      Hi, I think the most important thing you would need would be a stand for the smartphone, though that will only record you talking, as opposed to also recording what you are doing on your screen. I'm not currently aware of any screen capture programs that can be used with a smartphone (you can't use extensions w/ a smartphone), but there might be a way that I just don't know about. Sorry I couldn't be more helpful on this one!

    Can you tell me how to split a video into a few clips and save them separately? TIA

      Your best bet here would be to just create separate videos!

    I really loved this tutorial, I just wonder if I can use screencastify using only my smart phone, I have an old computer with no camera, and because of Covi-19 it´s almos impossible for me to buy a new one.

      Unfortunately you can't because Extensions are only useable on a computer. Here's an article about how to screen record with an iPhone though: support.apple.com/en-us/HT207935

    HELP... how did you record your computer screen behind you? I need to make some tutorials for my school and I love the way you made this one!

      Hi Abigayle, Look out for some content about that soon! (I can say that it's a lot more involved and time intensive than making a tutorial with Screencastify).

    Hi Sam thanks a lot for your extremely useful tutorials. Can you tell me how you actually created this particular video? It seems as though you are standing in front of a huge flat screen TV that is displaying your desktop screen behind you (cool effect),as opposed to simply appearing inside a small box in the corner. TIA

    • @NewEdTechClassroom
      @NewEdTechClassroom  4 роки тому

      Sure! I use a green screen behind me and then use Screenflow, a video editor for Mac, to key out the green and then superimpose myself onto the computer screen, which I'm simultaneously recording.

    Hello, how can you put a different background in the embedded video? I don't want to show my place. Also, how can I have my video embedded like yours? meaning NOT in a square box BUT only your face & body silouhette appear.. thanks for your reply, hopefully quick as I don't find the answer anywhere. Thanks!

      @NewEdTechClassroom  2 роки тому

      I use a green screen to get rid of my background along with an app called Screenflow.

      You're welcome! When your doc camera is plugged into your computer, it should show up as an option in the drop-down menu under browser tabs.

    Is there a way to use screencastify to record off an android that I'm using as a document camera? I teach prek and need to show them what i'm doing with manipulatives.

      No, unfortunately it's not compatible with Android or iOS. Loom is working on building an Android app.

    Did you make a video for the students on how THEY can record (a speech or something that uses the camera to record them)? If so, are you willing to share it with me so I can watch it and either use it or make one of my own based on it?

      Hi Kat, I do actually have a whole separate channel for student tutorials, so you should definitely check that out here: ua-cam.com/channels/Lgkzdg1YtJBMD-A080N1xg.html
      Here is the direct link to the tutorial on my preferred screen recording program, Loom: ua-cam.com/video/ch91tjVVuNE/v-deo.html

    Thank you for the video! I do have a question. If I’m screen casting a math lesson, is my only choice for writing on the screen, using my finger? Is there any type of wireless “pencil” I could use? My writing will be awful using my finger, especially for math work.

    • @NewEdTechClassroom
      @NewEdTechClassroom  4 роки тому

      You might want to try another program like Explain Everything for teaching a math lesson online: explaineverything.com/

      I make math videos on my iPad using the built-in screen recording app. I can use the Apple Pencil and my writing looks just like it does IRL. The kids can’t see my face, though.

      Thank you Suzette! How did I not know there was a built in recording app?!?! I have an apple pencil also!!! I'd SOO much rather use that! What do you write on? Could you give me a little more info? This sounds exactly what I'm looking for!
