I noticed that you do not mention just flipping your iPhone video mode to selfie. Instead, you say to use a mirror to set it up. Why is that?

    • @emanuellearismendez2270

Judy Barry I’m think that then quality on selfie mode is not as good.

Emanuelle Arismendez That’s what I figured, but if Michelle is using her iPhone to video herself, in my head it makes sense to just flip the screen around? AND I agree with everybody on here. These videos are priceless! Thank God for this girl!

Great ideas! I use my MacBook Air's camera to film my videos but prop the laptop up on a bin so the angle is right. The built-in mic works okay if I edit in iMovie and change the audio to reduce background noise and focus on voice audio. I sit on my deck under an open shade umbrella for filtered light. And I've learned that it's best to film during specific blocks of time each day to avoid weird sun angles.

Thanks for sharing all of this information as usual! Another tip for videoing from an iphone when no one is there to help: To make sure I'm in the phone view, I just do a test video and stand where I want to stand for the lesson. I record for a few seconds, and then I look at my phone to make sure I was in the frame. If needed, I will reposition the phone and do more tests, or if I was in the frame, then I press record and record my video.

Ms. Ferre, I do apppreciate all the information you have been uploading, which I have found very useful. Because as a teacher I have been asked to deliver instructional videos, I did the following:
First, I created a Prezi, which is nothing else than a presentation such as PowerPoint.
Next, I went for the option of creating a video. And.. I can have a professional instructional video for your students.

Your Apple Watch can also be used as your view finder and to start and stop your recording. I used it for my meet the teacher and it was super helpful. I could see lighting and framing directly on my watch screen. I also could stop and restart the recording as many times as I needed while I stumbled over my words.

Since we all "pivoted" (haven't we all come to dislike that word?) back in March to learn new ways to teach, we have all gone down many rabbit holes about video, editing, and a million apps and programs. Always looking forward to your next videos!

This was super helpful. Another helpful tip when it comes to recording yourself is if you are not a person who is comfortable with recording yourself (like I was), do some practice recordings around your home so you can get used to talking to a camera. It really helped me. I hated the feeling of "talking to myself". I felt foolish but with practice, it does get better. I love that you mentioned act as if you are talking to friend. That really helps too

I try to keep my videos under 15 minutes-I have older kids. Also, create playlists. Mine will actually just play the entire playlist on one go. I like prerecorded videos because it allows my students to watch them whenever they want and how often they want to. I had one student who could not get a lesson on the first go and went back and watched the video more than once. He would also pause it to try to work on the problem before hand and use the step by step guide to check his work and see where his mistakes were.

Also a budget friendly lighting trick is a reflector shield! They are affordable and can be used on the the side of your face that's receiving less light. So if you only have one window or one soft box for light, you can have the reflector on the other side to diffuse light on the other side.

I used my iPhone for all my instructional videos this spring and summer! I have an XR and the front camera quality is almost as good as the rear with bright window lighting! I would air drop to my Mac and combine the clips on iMovie. All together takes a few minutes!

Hi, I see you have experience with this. I have a question about using the iphone. Once the video is recorded on the iphone, What's the easiest way to get it to my computer? Email? Send it to Google Drive? Thank you

    • @Gabby-kz5xu
      @Gabby-kz5xu 4 роки тому

Patricia McGovern Hi! Do you have a Mac? If you do, you can select the video and share using AirDrop. Once you see your laptop appear on your iPhone screen, press it. The video will send in a few minutes! (I'm sure there are tons of AirDrop tutorials on YT if I didn't explain that well.). If you don't have a Mac, I think Google Drive would be best. There's a Drive app in the App Store.

YES! These videos can be made with so little tech. I've been publishing instructional videos on UA-cam for my classroom students for a few years now. They don't look quite as nice as the videos of a professional UA-camr, but they effectively get the content to my students. Ring lights can also cause glare issues if you're using a whiteboard in your video. I film during the day with all the blinds closed, and my iPhone 7 camera compensates for the low light really well. I also loved your tips at the end of the video-- keep it short! all in one take! I take it one step further and skip editing altogether. Students don't mind a few small mistakes, and it allows me to create more videos for them and spend time on other planning tasks.

To get rid of the reflections in your glasses while using a ring light, add a good CPL filter on your lens. This is for any lens that can have filters added to the front. If you use a phone camera, there are lenses and CPL filters that you can purchase to enhance your phones camera quality. There are also super cheap and good lapel mics that you can purchase on amazon in order to get perfect quality audio.

YAS. I am SO ready for that editing video! I don’t have a Mac anymore, so I have no idea what program to get and use. When I research it, I get overwhelmed and shut down. 🤦‍♀️
Once I have a program, I want to learn how to add sound effects/graphics and how to do that dramatic and quick zoom in for comedic effect. The problem is I’m so sick of computers, that the impetus to learn is stunted like crazy.

While you are presenting materials you often have music in the background which for me on my phone can mask your voice at times. Possibly consider just having music at the intro and outro or during transitions where you aren't talking. Again, love your videos and have recommended them to our tech training team.
