    Thanks man, I was becoming desperate here. Bought a traditional Tatar bow with fantastic arrows but they turned out to be on the lighter side. And since shooting caused a hand shock (felt almost like dry firing) i knew I needed heavier missiles..
    Great idea from you...thanks for sharing this with us 🙏🙏🙏

      i will do this to my arrows from my crossbow. great ideea.
      It will prolong the limbs life when i will practice.
      I heard that crossbow manufactures in their crazy persuit of higher speed arrows they use lighter arrows...
      so better to add some weight 🍷

    Found this Video a few days ago. Wife and I were at Menards,and picked up a pack of rope. Did one of my carbons up this afternoon and did some shooting. Seemed to have taken out a bit of tail right I'd been having. Arrows fly like darts now! I'd been shooting a 200 grain Ace bunt at some hay bales and they'd Bounce out. Not getting that with the carbon with the rope in it now. Thanks a bunch for sharing this info!

      Chili Pepper Jack Cowboy Action just make sure you bare shade test when your done to make sure they are still tuned to your bow. Because you are adding weight to the whole shaft there is not much change in spine but still good to double check once you make them.

    Bill, Im packing it so that it cant compress or slide around. by packing it as tight as i can it gets compressed as im packing and fills the whole shaft wall to wall. not so much an "s" shape but rather squished down and gets fatter so that it becomes the same dialeter as the inside of the shaft and cant slide or rattle or move.

    So I gave this a try. I have a set of 28.5" 332Gn arrows that needed to be upgraded to over 400gn. Using 3/16 Nylon braided rope at 3.1gn per inch, I added 32 inches of rope per arrow. The new weight is 431.20gn. When adding the rope, by spinning it near the end while shoving it in, it gets compressed into the shaft very nicely. 4 inches longer than the arrow seems to be just about right. I feel any longer and it would be hard to install. After a few shots, I can hear the rope if I shake it. At 20 yards it seems to have no effect on flight or accuracy. I compared them to my 411gn arrows and I found no difference.

  • @SamkoTradBow
    @SamkoTradBow  11 років тому +1

    Bill, I glue the insert in. then feed the rope down the nock end. then smash the insert end into a board jamming nad packing the rope down into the shaft. add more rope if it packs down past the end of the shaft so that its stuffed full of packed rope. then put the nock in and good to go.

      I have not done this in 10 years but I did shoot rope stuffed arrows for 10 years straight. Works great. yes the rope does compress a bit but never seemed to effect anything. But today there are so many options with different weight inserts and adapters etc i dont mess with the ropes anymore.

    • @SamkoTradBow

      it works and practical for heavy bow shooters. i need 1000 grain -1500 grain for my arrows and filling salt is the only reasonable option + heavy arrow point
      the salt wears the carbon out though

    So to do this, would i barshaft tune and find the right tune first and then add the rope? or would I have to tune arrows with the rope in? And when cutting shaft, cut the rope as well?

    • @SamkoTradBow
      @SamkoTradBow  Рік тому +1

      If you are going to always shoot heavy arrows there are now better ways to achieve that with the heavy components now made. If you want to bump up your arrow weight for a specific hunt this is a great way to do it and usually it tunes the same as the weight is added to the entire shaft not just the front.

      @@SamkoTradBow Okay. I have a 26.50 inch draw length. Just bought a bear super kodiak recurve bow 55pounds at 28 inch draw length as my hunting bow for next season. I am thinking of 100 grain inserts, 250grain 3blade broadheads, and however much nocturnal lighted nocks weigh. With a heavy forward tip would you recommend a 400 or 500 spine shaft to start out with? For bareshaft tuning. Reason why I want a heavy setup is I plan on going on my first hog hunt and of course I want more penatration.
      I currently shoot a kodiak magnum, 50 pounds at 28inch, 3riverarchery traditional only 600 spine carbon shaft, 200 grain woodsman broadhead, standard inserts, standard nock, three 4 inch parabolic left wing feather fletchings.

  • @SamkoTradBow
    @SamkoTradBow  11 років тому +1

    yep the arrow will go slower. I dont know how much as i never shot light arrows. but your bow will be quiter and your arrows will be more forgiving due to the slower speed and more weight. heavy arrows are not for everyone. but for me they are all i shoot.

    someone posted you lose penetration by doing this because the rope is absorbing shock is that true?

    • @SamkoTradBow
      @SamkoTradBow  11 місяців тому

      That is actually the opposite. The rope helps add penetration because of the jack hammer nature of the rope continues to move forward when the arrow hits.

    • @SamkoTradBow

      Corey Hope grab the arrow by the insert. Remove the knock and whip it hard and the rope should come out. If not take a stiff wire like a coat hanger and heat the end of it and put hot melt glue on the end of the hanger. While still hot jab the hanger into the shaft into the rope and hold it for 2 mins. The glue should harden on the rope and pull out.

    • @SaneAsylum
      @SaneAsylum 4 роки тому +1

      Nope. F.O.C. is the balance and since the rope is throughout it will be a balanced addition. It will up the weight, but not the percentage of weight that is forward of center compared to the amount aft of center. You can have a 3,000 grain arrow with 0% F.O.C. (or even negative) and conversely have a extremely light arrow (say 200 grains) with extremely high F.O.C..
