I have a 2006 MDX that I also replaced the RR Window Regulator. Just so you know, you don’t need to remove the WINDOW or even remove the bracket that holds the small glass window. All you’ve got to do is unscrew the window from the existing regulator. Then push the window up and use 5 or 6 strips of strong tape to hold the window up in place. Once you’ve accomplished that, you can then remove the existing regulator and install the new one. Great video BTW! Thanks for posting .
I have a 2001 MDX with 330,000 miles and for $100 and a little time, I was able to do what you provided in video. Now driving again. Works great! Thanks.
Wow! I did it! Oddly, I had troubles getting the panel off of the door and then getting the screws back into the door handle. But, it helped me save over $400. Since my tires needed to be replaced last week at over $800, I needed this save. I've had my 2005 MDX for 15 years and it's got 225k miles. There's more to fix but this is now one thing off the list. :-)
Thank you! Less than $50 for the part and the satisfaction of DIY. Great video!
I have a 2005 mdx. I did not have to take the window out. I followed the instructions for honda pilot. which is almost the same car. thanks for the assist
Exactly what I needed!!! Same door and everything. The video was very handy because I pulled my replacement regulator from a Pull-A-Part junkyard. The price difference between $159 new and $29 at Pull-A-Part. Removing the side rail between the window and the little side piece of glass was key to remove the window glass that was all the way up with no power to lower it down. I removed the rail, side glass, and some molding to angle the glass were I could remove the screws holding the glass to the regulator. Removing the regulator was as you said after that. I connected the replacement regulator to my truck's power to lower the regulator before installing onto the new window glass...
One Tip... you do not have to remove the side rail to remove the window glass. If you remove all the screws holding the regulator first, you can maneuver the window glass were you can remove the two screws holding it. Supporting the glass the whole time of course. Once the glass is detached from the regulator, just push the glass all the way up and temporary duck tape in place while you replace the regulator. Once done, remove tape and ease the glass into place to install the screws...
I appreciate your help on this one...
Thanks!!!
Brother thank you so much we followed your directions to a tee and while we did wind up with one extra part, and I'm not going to mention which one, everything seems to be working perfectly fine so thank you so much!
Thank you for this video. You saved me some cash and allowed me to have that satisfying feeling this accountant has of having repaired/replaced something himself. The window was already taped up so I just didn't remove it. I saved $60 plus by ordering the Dorman replacement unit from Amazon rather than O'Reilly, but the window had to stay taped up a few days longer. Thanks again!
Thank you for posting this video. It made it easy for me to make the repair. I finished the job in under one hour
I have no automotive skills whatsoever, but I couldn't swallow a $647 price tag to fix-seemed outrageous. After some research, came across this video. Total cost using this video was only $45 for the part. Awesome video. Thank you!
Really good tutorial, literally step by step! You saved me $100's of $$$$. I'm a 63 yo woman, and if I can do it with your video, anyone can! Thank you thank you thank you! I ordered the part from Everyday Auto, less than $40, came in 4 days. It goes up and down, but seems a little off. I may have missed a step, not your fault, but may need to fine tune it, but not sure how. My car is a 2006 MDX but it was basically the same set up. I run a Facebook group for MDX"s and would love to share your video with my group. With permission of course! Again, thank you!
Thank you for this! Tackling this on my daughters MDX in a couple of hours from now.
As others have said, THANK YOU for this video! Seriously took me right at one hour to do this and no way it would have taken less than two or three without your help!
Brother thank you so much saved me around $500 your instructions were spot on.
Thanks, just did same window on my 2005 Acura MDX, it took me 68 minutes to complete. When I put the new regulator in, it wasn't lined up with the bottom holes to put the 10mm bolts in place. I was able to reach in from the side and get one bolt in to hold the window. I then had to plug in the window control to power the window down to get the other 10mm bolt in place. Also didn't remove the window and used duct tape to hold it up. Make sure you use enough tape because my tape came loose the first time and the window came crashing down all the way from the top! Lucky my hands weren't in there or the window didn't break.
Great video and I did Subscribe.
I like how you get quick into action than most guys who start with giving lectures which is a waste of time. Nice video!
Hey, this is a GREAT video. My 26 year old daughter and her boyfriend were able to follow this simple procedure and fix her MDX window. Neither one of them have done this before. 👏👏👏
Thank you.. it was quick fix on MDX 2006 window with your video… basics are really good . Thank you..
I just got my new Motor in! completely installed with your help! Thanks so much!
Thanks for the video it helped me IMMENSELY
Thank you for posting this video sir. I was able to watch your video and replace the assembly on my wife's 2002 Acura MDX. Great job. Appreciate it. Liked and subscribed.
This video has now helped me out twice on my wifes MDX. Thanks so much!
Thank you, this video was so helpful. It only took me a couple of hours and now I have a working window again. You should post more videos so I can keep my car going 😁
Thank you!!!! This video gave just the right amount of detail for me to do the job myself. You saved me at least $200 and taught me a new skill. Liked and subscribed!!
Dude. Good video right to the point without talking about anything but the task at hand. Kudos.
Awesome and thorough tutorial! Nowmy window works again! Thank you!
Excellent guide. Thanks for going step by step in detail!
Thank you ..your video help me to finish it in a little over 1hr..couldn’t have done without it.
Great instructor! Followed step by step and made it work again. Thank you very much
Thanks again. I’ve used this video to fix multiple regulators over the years. It’s great.
So helpful! Did this job so quickly because of your video. Thank you!!
Perfect angles and instruction. Great video much appreciated. Thanks
Thank you!!! Easy to follow steps and saved me a lot of money by doing it myself.
Thanks man exactly same vehicle and problem same window, followed step by step just how you showed, and it went perfect, good job on the step by step process thanks again 👌✌️
Thank you so much! Followed your instructions and fixed my window!
This was so helpful! Great Instruction and visuals:)
Great video, exactly what I needed! Thanks so much for the information and God bless!
Great video. You saved me some cash. I appreciate it. I didn't take out the window. I just raised it and taped it up. Saves a little time I think.
I wish I read this comment before the repair. This is a great suggestion. It more time to get the window gaskets back in place than the actual repair.
Thank you so much for this video, I was able to change the regulator all by myself!
Nice! Glad it helped!
Great tutorial. I was able to replace the regulator on my '06 with relative ease. Crazy that the only thing broken on the old one was a little piece of plastic that holds the wire in.
One thing, you forgot the two little black plugs that help hold up the weather barrier.
Excellent video. Took me probably 3-4 hours to do, but I am a dummy. Thanks!
Thanks for the video but one thing you didn't tell me is where to find the two missing bolts I lost. LOL!
I put everything back in before finding them both next to eachother on the floor. Took another 20-25 mins to pull it apart, screw them in and put it back together again in the dark. Seriously though , this is much appreciated! Used window regulator cost between $100-$250 from the local wreckers in western Sydney.. would have been much cheaper if the pick n pay less wrecker had an MDX for me to pull the parts out myself. Can't thank you enough!
Thanks for your help! This really helped me out
Dude. Thank you so much for this. Saved me a lot of time.
Great Job on this vid. Perfect step by step. 👍👍
Subscribed, thanks for all the help. Nice tutorial.
Great video, I will use your instruction this weekend.
Thank you, I done mine with your video, thanks.
Thanks man that was a great job and made my job easy!
So helpful. Saved me big bucks!
Great tutorial. Saved me $$$
Thanks a lot for the video. This was very useful
Many thanks. Excellent video.
Great video. Just note that you don’t need to remove the window. Just use tape to hold it up while you replace the regulator.
Fearing to break the window is my mental challenge. Are you saying I don't need to remove the window seal and the window while doing this work? I guess practically I just need to be able to take out the old one and put in the new one then put it back together, right?
Video saved me some trouble, thanks
Thank you! Awesome video
Thanks for the assist! Works great.
Glad it helped!
good vid. I can do this. I agree with some posts that say you can eliminate removing the glass by just taping it up while replacing the regulator. having said that though i still found this video very helpful. thanks for uploading and i did subscribe.
Thanks!
Great video! I was able to watch it and get my rear left door window working again. It always takes me a long time, so this was probably 2.5 hours for me.
One additional issue I’ll have to troubleshoot later: when I put it all back together the power door lock is no longer working. I’m wondering what I missed.
EXCELLENT VID THANK YOU!
Plus 1 subscriber; thank you for the assist on my "new” Acura.
Thanks!
Thanks! Hopefully Soon I will do more videos on my Acura.
Wow you make it look easy ..I wanna try it on my mdx I'm scared I'll make things worse🤪
Great video! thank you.
This is so helpful. Thanks
Thanks took me about 20 minutes
very good ! just what I needed
Glad it helped!
Thanks for that 100% I think you make me save money 🤝🤝🤝🤝🤝🤝🤝
Very good teacher
Great video just under an hour job
Nice video, wish you would have completely removed the white plastic insulator. Kind of distracting not seeing the full uncovered door panel. I don't know if I'm more impressed with the video or the fact the 50,000 Acura owners had to replace this window. Before turning 65 I could have replaced this window in under an hour. Now after 75, I'll have to clear a five day week.
Thank you so much!
Gracias!!!
Excellent! Thank you
Thanks man for help me 🙏👌
Excelente video viejo
LEARNED. THANKS
Great video! Thank you. I did it exactly as you did but I did not have to remove the vertical window bracket (the one held by a screw under the weather stripping) nor did I have to pull the window out. I just kept the window all the way up with painter's tape and was able to fit in the new window regulator without problems.
Nice!
Tankyou for this video
Thank you very much. You helped me a lot!! I subscribed and thumbs up!! :-):-):-)
Thank you bro
Great helpful video with clear instructions. How has your experience been with Dorman regulator assembly - slow or fast or noisy? Thanks.
Thank you so much.
Nice video! I have an 06 MDX rear passenger side window is off track, I've done brakes but that mechanism he took off the door I feel apprehensive about trying
After disconnecting the window from the regulator, you can simply tape it up to the top of the door rather than removing it entirely. Makes the process a little easier in my opinion.
Good video
Thank you Sr.
Glad it helped!
Thankyou sir!
Thank you so much! Saved me a lot of coin! The only thing I’m not so sure about is if I got the spacer for the bracket that runs along the little triangle window in the right spot. Is there a particular direction it should face? Everything seams to be working fine. Thanks again!
Honestly I have no idea the spacer fell out for me as well and I put it back in the way I think it should go.
Thanks mate
Perfect thanks
Great video and I am going to attempt the repair, but just one question. In referencing to some comments and another Honda Pilot video of same issue, does it really necessary to take out the rail as shown in this video? It seems that I can take out and two holding screws and tape the windows at its up position while I swap out the regulator. Is this correct? Thanks for your video.
An excellent video, thank you. I have 2003 MDX and need to replace the window regulator. Where did you purchase your window regulator and what is the part number? Thanks again.
I just used amazon:
a.co/60vT5Ti
finally done it, i didn't realize there were another 2 bolts on the inside bolting the actual window onto the rail, after removing those tricky bolts i was able to remove the window mechanism.. the window does not go all the way down and the other side woks and doesn't go all the way down either but at least i'm happy with it, no more tacky tapes on my window but it did saved me when i left the engine running and mistakenly hit the door lock actuator and with no spare key remote only the bad window saved me.
You rock . Thanks for the help. I used this part for my 2004 MDX. www.amazon.com/gp/product/B005R0JMZC/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
A couple of pieces of advice: (1) be careful of the weather stripping at the bottom of the door. Mine came off without even trying (when I pulled to door off) but it tore one of the places where the holder goes. There are like 6 holders and you need to CAREFULLY take it off each one. (2) on the 2004 I didn't have to remove that bar between the main window and the other - I just took the bolt and screw out and I was able to pull the window out towards the inside of the car, not outside like you did. That way I didn't have to deal with putting the weather stripping back, which I didn't feel confident I would be able to get it back right. (3) I did drop screws down in the door a couple of times and I just used my magnetic screwdriver to get them out.
Door looks perfect. I also replaced the door lock because it wasn't working either with www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00QB47PJ8/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Anyway, I appreciate the advice!!!! Saved me probably $300.
Nice! I love it when people save money!
3:15 don't let the glass fall 😁
👍👍
My 5yr old slammed the door and the window fell inside the door a short time afterwards. Am I still going to need a regulator? Is it possible to follow this steps just to put back on track?
Most likely the regulator is busted as the track is part of it.
1 thing though, why does window need to be removed, can't it be held all the way up till time to attach to regulator?
I am actually really confused. What does the window bolt into? The regulator is a vertical piece of metal, but the window attachment is horizontal?
Its more like the regulator bolts into the window. there should be a cross bracket on your regulator that will line up with the holes in the window. I have before received a broken regulator where that piece snapped off during shipping.
Do you make house calls??!?
hello good tutorial but is not necesary to remove the glass or that bracket i just did one rear right 2005 MDX in less that 30 mins.
