Contrast & Drybrushing: Rebel Fleet Troopers for Star Wars Legion - Fast! [How I Paint Things]

  • It might be true that Battle Droids are the fastest possible miniatures to paint for Star Wars Legion, but Rebel Fleet Troopers come a close second! Though not the most skilled troops in the game, they're cheap and effective board fillers - best then to find a way to paint them quickly and easily, then!

Nothing says "I'm ready for battle" like a vest and a helmet :D I've always loved the rebel fleet troopers.

Came here to say this! Rebel fleet troopers have always been my favorite of the Star Wars troop types. Close second are the Rebel hoth troopers.

My favorite rebel uniform and now an easy painting guide to get them on a table. What a time to be alive.

I've been getting back into Battletech of late and using a technique much like this to get my models table ready in a hurry. I've had a lot of success with such super simple steps.

Just a fantastic finish! The figure is a great sculpt and looks like he just came out of the movie. Thanks for sharing this.

Your tutorials are really dangerous for our wallets, these new figures are incredibles, the paintjob on the jacket has exalted the details.
Normally for highlights on black I use or VMC Black Grey(your suggestioni) or a mix of Black & VGC Hawk Turquoise, to add variety, expecially when painting shoes or belts.

Nice results, and gets these troopers ready ready for action quickly. I’m pretty sure I wrote the first online painting guide for fleet troopers in the 90s when I was painting Grenadier/West End Games’ 25mm Star Wars figures. I still have some squads in the garage that could be completed, so I might pick up those grey contrast paints I’m missing and give this a try.

'Online' back in the day was a little beyond a wee Sledge, but I'm pretty sure I had some of those classic West End miniatures - that D6 RPG system was a blast, still a firm favourite in my circles! :D

If you want for shading the white try using soul blight grey, instead of apothecary white. 😊 Great content as always!👍🏽

Very neat, I wasn't aware of that technique - although I've dabbled unknowingly with similar (unconsciously unaware).👍👍😊😊
I've ordered some cheap eye make up brushes for dry brushing as you suggested BTW👍😊💜✌️

Another great video pal one figure I would love to see your version off is a us marine or infantryman from the Vietnam war as this is. Project I’m looking at and because all the colours are green how would you blend them together

what is your opinion on the new Speedpaints?

    • @SonicSledgehammerStudio
      @SonicSledgehammerStudio  Рік тому +1

I don't really have one. I haven't used them, and I won't until the reactivation issue is fixed. They just don't suit the way I ordinarily paint if I can't put paint over the top of them. I usually really like Army Painter's stuff, but the Speedpaints are a total non-starter for me.

I've heard there's additions to the range, but unless it means they're also redoing all the originals, I'm still not that keen. I'll wait until the old stuff slowly filters off the shelves.

@@SonicSledgehammerStudio I actually think they changed the whole line and replaced the Medium they were using before.
